Good Friday to one and all. We have acold front dropping into the state today, bringing a few showers and colder winds. This sets the stage for a seasonably chilly weekend ahead of what appears to be a bigger cold shot by next weekend.<\/p>\n

Let’s begin things with today and roll forward.<\/p>\n

Clouds and a few showers are moving in from the northwest ahead of the front. Temps spike into the upper 50s to low 60s ahead of the front then drop toward 50 behind it as the cooler winds kick in.<\/p>\n

This sets the stage for overnight lows to reach the low and mid 30s with Saturday highs mainly 50-55 with a mix of sun and clouds. Temps by Sunday morning reach the mid and upper 20s for some areas.<\/p>\n

Temps rebound toward the low 60s for highs into the first half of next week, but a huge trough looks to dig into the eastern half of the country starting Thursday. That trough is stout as a huge block goes up across Canada…<\/p>\n

A setup like that can bring winter weather with it, but odds favor that staying just to our north and east if it does. Still, the chance for the first flakes of the season somewhere across Kentucky isn’t zero at this point…<\/p>\n

The final run before the start of winter is in from the EURO Seasonal Forecast Model is in and it continues to show the same pattern it’s been showing for months now. Just like the EURO Weeklies, it’s focusing positive height anomalies across Canada into the Arctic with the trough underneath it in our region for December…<\/p>\n

That pattern remains into January, linking up with the trough back in the Pacific…<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The trough then intensifies for February…<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

This isn’t far from what I’m expecting to see this winter, to be honest. This brings normal to slightly below normal temps from our region and south with above normal temps across the northern tier of the country.<\/p>\n
