Good Sunday evening. Our arctic front continues to push eastward across the state this evening and will bring a period of light snow and flurries overnight into early Monday. This sets the stage for the beginning of a hyper-active winter period for us and much of the country.<\/p>\n

I’ve touched on the system coming in Wednesday night into Thursday. I have no changes to the thoughts on how that plays out and we will answer questions with that system as we get closer.<\/p>\n

I continue to watch in amazement at what the models are showing moving in behind it for late next weekend into the following week. I have never witnessed a computer model show temperatures of 50 degrees below normal… until now…<\/p>\n

That is just absurd to see. Will that even come close to verifying? We will have to wait and see… but EVERY model is now locked into a major arctic outbreak during the same time.<\/p>\n

The GFS was the last holdout and is likely why you are reading all these “warmer” forecasts I see you guys posting about. There are certain outlets\/agencies that will spit out exactly what that model says and never think twice about it. I wonder what they will say now that the model has joined all the other models for next weekend…<\/p>\n

\"GFS\"<\/a>See the arctic outbreak coming in behind it? Yep… the GFS is also forecasting temps around here to go below 0 during the same time as the European model I showed in my earlier post. Does it mean they are right? Of course not… but they are running straight toward the January pattern I’ve been talking about since I put out the winter forecast in early November.<\/p>\n
