We are starting off our new week on a rather warm note across the state as temps soar well into the 80s for everyone. This is looking like a warmer week than last week… even as much cooler air lurks just to our north. The clash of the air masses across North America may lead to some better chances for rain later this week into the coming weekend.

In the short term…. today will feature mainly sunny skies as thermometers begin to warm. The eastern half of the state will range from 80-85 while the west warms into the upper 80s…

We will see a weak front dip in here later Tuesday… this may bring a few more clouds into the north and east and there is just the smallest threat for a shower. Highs will be back toward the lower 80s in the east as the west may see yet another 90 degree day.

Wednesday will see a small cool down for most as highs range from the upper 70s to lower 80s. The next front arrives on the scene as we roll our way into Thursday. This front does have a little more moisture to work with and can bring some scattered showers and storms to the area. Here is how it looks for Thursday on the European Model…

You can see a ton of cold air on that map up in Canada, but it doesn’t look like it wants to surge southward into the states in one big push. Instead… it slowly spreads out covering all of Canada and then into the northern half of the U.S. by the weekend and early next week. That setup can mean a nice temp contrast from a hot southern states to a rather chilly brand of air in the north. In between… the chance for a stalled out front and some more showers and storms. You can see that here on the European Model for Sunday…

Does the corridor of best moisture include our part of the world? We will have to wait and see exactly where that boundary sets up… but we are in the game.

I want to stress again that I am loving seeing all this cold air building up in Canada. For winter weather fans… that is a great sign as it can lay down an early season snowcover across our neighbor to the north. Could this be a sign to an early start to winter? ***cough cough**** cough*** hint hint*** cough***

Let’s take a little trip to the tropics as there is a lot of action going on. We have a major Hurricane in Igor and Tropical Storm Julia right behind her big brother. There are also a couple more hot spots to watch for possible development.
