<\/p>\nGood Monday morning, folks. Our winter storm continues to pound the bluegrass state with freezing rain, sleet and heavy snow as of this writing. Heavy snow is taking over and will really add up early this morning. Several inches of snow will be likely for much of the region before this wraps up later today.<\/p>\n
As expected, this is\u00a0the most widespread winter storm of the winter… and that’s saying something this winter! The freezing rain to sleet to heavy snow trio have roads an absolute mess. Snow and ice covered roads will be likely throughout much of the day.<\/p>\n
Gusty winds of 30mph will create blowing and drifting of the snow and sleet. It’s going to be interesting to see just where we wind up with the snow and sleet totals when this is over. 6″+ amounts may end up common for areas along and south of Interstate 64 in central and eastern Kentucky. Doesn’t mean everyone gets that much, but the snow bands are impressive here at 3am.<\/p>\n
The snow tapers off from west to east late this morning into the early afternoon hours. Temps won’t budge much today as readings recover to around 20 for a high. Lows may hit the single digits by Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n
