Good afternoon everyone. A complex of strong storms ir pushing into northern Kentucky this afternoon as other storms fire up ahead of the main system. Any of these storms could become severe and most will produce torrential rains that can cause local flash flooding. The eastern half of the state will be especially vulnerable to the storms this afternoon.
With that… I give you the return of the radars…
Here is the latest from the Storm Prediction Center…
I will update things as needed so check back. I will also use Twiter to send out rapid fire updates so follow me @Kentuckyweather . You can find these updates in the top right corner of the blog.
Take care.
this is easy call for a severe thunderstorm watch today for the north and northeast. I use the spc mesoanylsis data, there data which indicates a pretty unstable airmass and no watch. we have had several warnings already and reports of severe weather with this cluster of storms. spc dropped the ball today.
WOW! the cincy area has really had alot of rain and storms in the past couple of weeks..while here in southern ky..we are parched…well not all areas are but i know it is in my area..I could sure use some of that thunderstorm activity…
really have to be concerned about winchester area in clark county now. 5 inches of rain so far estimated with the main cluster still to the north.
WOW!!! It is coming down in buckets here with dangerous lightning….Chris was right again!!!
Wow, I continue to have great timing on when to wash my vehicles.
No rain here in SW LEX but the wind gusts are doing some tree damage. Lots of branches just came down outside my office.
Nasty in Gtown-torrential rain, the lightning has really picked up in the past few minutes. Multiple episodes of gusty winds.
Warning for Lexington????? Winds are gusting…no rain, but it is dark and the winds are hard.
There is it….

Northern Jessamine County, lots of wind, little branches all around my yard. Also a lot of cloud to ground lightning. Time to shut the computer down! Rain just arrived.
Yep, and it’s raining harder now than it has rained yet. High winds a few minutes ago, like a hurricane, now just a straight-down torrential downpour. What a day….
Now it’s even worse.Winds lashing, and it has not ceased thundering since about noon. They finally did blow the sirens, though, when the TS warning was issued.
The Georgetown News Graphic is reporting on Facebook that numerous trees are down, especially west of Georgetown. They are reporting power issues at the east end of Scott County. We can discuss why the National Weather Service did not have a warning for this some other time.
do share the rain down here, its dry…
Chris, thanks for the warnings via Twitter! Your warnings were much earlier than the sirens here in downtown Winchester. NWS did not issue the warning (looking at the time stamp on their site) until the storm had been on top of us for quite some time. Kinda un-helpful, they were.
I’m more intrested in why the spc issued no watch or MD today for severe weather. LI and cape values were very unstable and the lapse rates were ok. pretty easy to see the line was going to maintain or strengthen this afternoon. we have had around 20 counties under warning so far and nothing from them.
finally something from the spc.

Some time ago, I needed to buy a house for my firm but I didn’t earn enough money and could not purchase something. Thank heaven my dude suggested to get the credit loans at trustworthy bank. Thence, I did so and was satisfied with my financial loan.
Tim, it’s trying to storm here…once it leaves, I’ll try to send it your way! LoL! 🙂
Awful wind and rain here in Northern Laurel County. Thunder and lightening. Were are the warnings for this?
storms just blew through my part of knox co. with gusty winds and MUCH NEEDED HEAVY RAINS!…
my poor tomato plants are plastered to the ground though…: Oh well we have to take the bad with good sometimes..we sure needed this rain…:) and its really coming down out there right now..
Pretty good storm here in Madison Co. today also. Storm hit about 2:45, and dad said he was driving down the road in the wind and said a garbage can came rolling past him down the road in the opposite direction, moving faster than he was. 🙂
That storm looked like a tropical depression moving through here. Very strong winds. Various small branches and leaves were everywhere, at least 2 stop lights on the Eastern Bypass had their power knocked out, snarling traffic for a bit.
Location, location, location. Not one drop of rain at my house in Corbin. The winds gusted for a few minutes with a distant rumble of thunder. Then, the skies cleared and the sun was shining brightly again.
Chris, what do you think about the activity upstream (IL, MO, IN)? Will these storms die out before they get here? I noticed the conditions are looking ripe for severe weather up there, and didn’t know if these storms would be making their way here or not.
Had a storm come through Hazard this evening. Bulan was flooding.
.04 here today Tim so be thankful you moved 😉
It has really cooled off at my place. We didn’t get any rain, but the breeze is wonderful!
Just got through cleaning up a tree that blew over in my front yard in SE Fayette. The tip of it landed in my neighbors driveway and on thier pickup. Just a small dent that their not worried about. Had several neighbors helping to cut it up and bundle it and put to the curb. It would have taken me all week had it not been for them.
It’s obviously what I am looking for , thank you for information , 徵信社 cheer!
