Good Tuesday everyone. There is not a whole lot of new things I can add to what I have been talking about day after day as rounds of showers and storms will continue for the next few days.
Just like each of the past several days… some of the storms will be strong or severe and will produce torrential rains that can cause flash flooding. It is not going to rain all the time so you will have breaks in between storms that will boost temps back well into the mid and upper 80s.
The storms will be on and off through Wednesday and you can track the action here…
The latest from the Storm Prediction Center…
Severe Risk
The next map shows where the SPC is monitoring for possible watches…
I am still focused on a very hot and humid stretch of weather that should be coming our way late this week into the weekend. Highs can very easily reach the low and mid 90s. Combine those temps with high humidity levels and triple digit heat index temps are possible.
I will update as needed so check back. Take are.
It’s 1:10 AM, and I’ve been literally up out of bed since 1:00. But, before it was lightning crazy!!!! I mean crazy!!!! And with no rain it seems. Now the rain has come and the thunder has moved on, but the lightning is still here. But, not like what it was. Man, it was bad!!!!
It’s 2010, and SPC still can’t get the maps on their various web pages to be in sync.
i really want severe weather of any sort. hail damaging winds, tornadoes, derechos, snowstorms, ice storms, blizzards. you name it. i just don’t want a boring summer.
Wow. LI as low as -9. CAPE as high as 4,000 j/kg. 100% insolation currently. This airmass could not be any more primed to blow the heck up. All we need is something to trigger it..and POOF.
Looks to me like southern KY is going to get the initial batch. If you live from Bowling Green to Somerset to Corbin…keep your eyes peeled. Your radar should be lighting up soon.
Another “like August in New Orleans” reference from Todd Borek at noon today. I think we need to start a drinking game. Every time he says that, we have to take a shot.
Amen to that 😉
I can go swimming, fishing, play around and all that summer stuff but nothing beats tracking and watching a big storm come in and leave its mark.
C IN / IL
Updated to moderate risk — was not expecting that.
i talk about where i think the biggest severe weather threat will be today on my site. just click on my name.
Central IL is about to get ROCKED. Many of those cells look tornadic to me.
The heat across the country right now is ridiculous, I honestly don’t see how road crews , etc. work out in this all day.. The mid 70s dew points is what makes it so awful.
Um yeah, Chris’s tweeter update is very accurate! LOTS of thunder and lightening here in Jessamine, earlier it looked like a freaking hurricane blowin’ through! SUn is out now, YUCK!
Wife is at Riverbend to see DMB tonight. Any estimate on when that stuff in Ill. will reach the Cincy area?
well if you will pay for all the damage that comes along hail damaging winds tornadoes derechos snowstorms and ice storms i have no problem with that whatsoever but if your not gonna foot the bill keep that stuff to yourself 😉

Numerous Counties under Storm Watch until Midnight … Storm over me now
I am in Louisville and have noticed the storms on the radar…hope they stay away from this area tonight. They look to be pretty strong!
