Good Monday everyone and welcome to a brand new work week. This Monday is starting off on a very chilly note… but that is not an indication of how the rest of the week will go. Warm temps and rounds of showers and thunderstorms will be the highlight over the next several days.

Before we get into the warm and wet weather news… let’s start off with a look at our morning low temps…

Temps in the 30s will be quite common to start the day and some areas will wake up to some frost. This has been well advertised on the blog for several days now.

Highs today will hit the 60s under partly sunny skies as afternoon clouds increase from the west ahead of a warm front. This warm front will move through here. That warm front will bring showers and thunderstorms in here overnight into very early Tuesday…

GFS Tuesday Morning

The main round of showers and storms will move north early Tuesday as we break out into partly sunny skies as both temps and humidity levels increase. This could lead to another round of thunderstorms late in the afternoon and evening and some of those could be strong or severe.

Here is where the Storm Prediction Center thinks the severe threat is for Tuesday…

1730 UTC Day 2 Outlook

Several rounds of showers and storms will be with us on and off through Friday, at least. It is not going to rain all the time by any means… but the chance will be there.  Locally heavy rains will be possible… especially across the northern half of the region.

Daytime highs in the 80s should be rather common during this time.

I am trying to get a grasp on the weekend forecast as the models diverge a bit as some show the front slipping to our south while others keep it close enough for some storms. We will fine tune that outlook as we get a bit closer.

By the way… there may be a heck of a severe weather outbreak across the plains today. If things get cranking out there… I may try to post some cool storm chasing links for you guys.

Have a great Monday and take care.
