Good Tuesday to one and all. The weather around here has been rather wild for the past few days and that doesn’t looks to change anytime soon. The much advertised upper level low is taking the slow train out of town and will actually exert a little more influence in the coming days. That will lead us into a cold shot of air moving in for the weekend.

The day will start out with partly to mostly sunny skies across the state with a few clouds moving in from the west. These clouds will increase quickly from the northwest as the closed low sinks southward toward the region. Some late day showers are a good bet in the north and west especially. Highs today will range from the upper 60s to low 70s.

These scattered showers will then increase a bit into Wednesday as out temps come down a few degrees because of more clouds and the upper low being closer.

The low will FINALLY open up and begin to move away on Thursday. I still can’t rule out a scattered shower or two… especially early. As this low moves away… a stout cold front will then move in from the northwest Thursday night. Clouds will increase out ahead of this and temps on Thursday should hit the 70-75 degree range. Winds will pick up during the afternoon.

A shower or two is possible as the front moves through. The big news with this front is the blast of cold air coming in behind it for the weekend. Take a look at what the European Model is showing…

That is one impressive cold shot coming into much of the eastern half of the country. What could our temps look like this weekend? Let’s ask the GFS…

Now THAT would be one heck of a cold start to October and COULD give us an early season frost if we clear the overnight skies out. As a fan of fall… i’m ready for it. You guys with me on that?

Time to do our daily tracking thing…

Current Temps

I will have another update coming your way later today. Have a great Tuesday and take care.
