Snow Pics and A Look Ahead

Good Evening everyone. Let me start out by saying thanks for all the emails and pics of the recent snows. I am a few hundred emails behind in answering so it is going to take me a bit to get back to you. Hang tight and you will hear back from me… eventually.

I wanted to share a few of the hundreds of pics I have received from this last storm…

Some great pics there showing just how much snow fell from this last storm. Our attention now turns toward the weekend and early next week as we have the potential for more wintry weather. The first system rolls through Saturday with the chance for some light snow. The bigger storm moves in for Monday and that is the one we will be focusing our energy on in the coming days. The models all went toward showing a low tracking into the Ohio Valley before giving way to a coastal storm. Take a look at the European model…

That would bring some overrunning snows to us later Sunday with a switch to a mix and rain Monday before a rapid switch to snow again Monday evening and night. Backlash snows would then roll through here Tuesday and Wednesday as very cold air moves back in. Now… that is what the MODELS are showing as of right now. Some changes are likely to come in their depictions.

We have a ton more snow threats to go over the next few weeks as our overall temp pattern grows colder! I will have a full update later tonight… take care.

I love a little bit of snow each year but….I am SO VERY ready for some sun and heat!!!!

Well done, as always. Thanks. I’m wondering about the timing for the next 2 snowmakers. We looking at possible daytime snows or rains during the day (or is it too early to tell)?

Chris….what is going on this is crazy. i get my license and we get the snow i always wanted when i was little lol. but yea this is pretty cool. so when are we looking at finally getting spring in here as of now?? and do you see that leading straight into a bad tornado season.

Some good rain would be nice…we need to get all this salt and chemicals washed off the roads. I’m sick of the nasty black slushy mess coating everything.

We have a TOTAL snowfall in Somerset for the year of around 12 inches. The biggest being a 5.25 inch snow few weeks back. Hard pressed to measure another snow that would exceed 2-3 inches….a buch of little .5-1 inch snows. Then there is my electric bills ugh! Bring on spring!!!!

I agree those who have had enough cold and snow…..I’m tired of it. We have seen our fair share of snow. I want green grass, flowers, happy birds, and sunshine.

I read your last post regarding your company. Wasn’t meaning to bash the business…..You must understand how frustrating it is for something as MAJOR as your HVAC to keep screwing up. I’ve read HVAC forums lately and learned a lot. Trane is a good company and seems to be the most recommended vs other brands. Based on what I have read, it has EVERYTHING to do with proper installation. Things can still go wrong (even with proper installation)..I called around and that’s the cheapest labor I could find for replacing a compressor. A Trane field service rep is coming to my house to look over the system to make sure it was properly installed.

Interestingly enough…Had I had the home warranty which would cost 400/year plus 50 dollar deductible for each visit would, at this point, based on what’s went wrong in the last 5.5 years, would have cost 2250 dollars which is actually MORE than what I have spent total on the HVAC repairs….LOL

00z gfs trended west to where areas north and west of lex have to worry about a frz rain chance.

We have a Geothermal unit…and am paying almost half for electric and heat what my grandparents are paying with their electric and heat.

thanks for the airtime CB!! Still have about 17 inches on the ground here not sure if we can deal with too much rain. temp hit 32 here today and even with just a little sun we burned off 2.5 inches. i am so glad i have got to experience this winter it has been memorable even if we do not get any more big snows, but i think the best is yet to come!

bufkit for the 00z gfs run shows mainly hvy snow monday with the regular precip technique and rain/ frz rain with burgeron. not sure which is better.

Thank You Chris for keeping us updated, i check the blog all through the day to see whats coming, and i cant really complain we have had a couple decent snow fall totals, but im still waiting for that BIG one LOL as so is everyone eles!! Does anyone know if we still may get a big one or are we looking at more small snow falls to come?? thank you, and i hope everyone has enjoyed the snow this year!
