Good evening… again. Another short range computer model is picking up on the heavy snow potential overnight and early Monday. This one is called the HRRR and only runs through about 8am. Here’s what it’s showing for snowfall by then…
Additional updates as needed. Take care.
If that verifies Louisville should be under winter storm warning!
My wife’s on the road and she called at 7:45 saying it was snowing in Perry county, IN. Could the change over be happening sooner than advertised?
What can Wayne County expect as far as schools are concerned?
Well, unless they close for rain, I’d say “There will be school in Wayne County”…..
Wayne will miss out on this one ..no snow for us ;( maybe next time!
this is a OHIO RIVER counties snow, its not a good sign to see the old dreaded LEFT TURN/WESTWARD showing up again. could be a long snowless winter as far as a BIG ONE GOES, snow like SE/E gets at the end of this might be the norm as far as much snow, 1-3 inch as storm pulls away,,
Now ROLO it’s still November..Don’t be canceling winter yet…This system had no other choice but to trend north..Blocking not strong enough just yet…Probably will see some cutters also…Hammer will drop for EKY sooner than later..
Death, taxes, and rolo cracking me up. Winter is here!
Fear the trend…
Do u know if London my is suppose to have snow in the morning.
I really doubt it.We aren’t suppose to go below freezing tonight. Its still near 36 degrees now and suppose to stay that way all into Monday.I am more concerned with the freezing that is coming Monday night and Tuesday. With all this rain there should be plenty of ice once it freezes.
Sleet being reported in Louisville
strangely enough, WLKY must see something different in the short range models and nowcasting, because they shifted the heavier band even further north and barely have Louisville in the 1-3″ now.
WAVE3 and Chris Bailey are almost identical in thought.
I know WLKY likes to use there in house model. Maybe there going strictly on that, I’m not quite sure.
Several reports coming in of snow in Harrison and Floyd county’s in Indiana that’s basically one county away from Louisville
I live in Floyds Knobs, Indiana about 10 miles west of Louisville and it switched to all snow about 20 minutes ago here. Much earlier than anticipated. 🙂
I love Wave3 and CB. Spot on as usual….
I be very surprised if Louisville doesn’t go to snow in the next hour no later than 11pm.
maybe…we have WLKY 1-3″, WDRB 1-3″, WHAS11 finally came up to 2-4″, WAVE3, 2-4″ and with pockets of 4-6″, and Mr. Bailey with the 2-6″ call (basically same as WAVE3).
Jeremy Kappell from Wdrb he’s really good with winter systems I’d be surprised if he doesn’t up his totals.
WSW will be issued as the night goes on for some counties south of the river in my opinion.
Louisville should already be in one.
Any chance of SEKy getting some measurable snow mon-tue?
May see some snow flying but little to no accumulation unless you live in a 2000+ elevation
BACKSIDE of storm looking strong, mignht be hope fore couple inches in S/SE KY by tomm midday.
Don’t be playing with our emotions like that. 🙂
I think we will have enough ice even if we get any snow.
So it will be very cold and slick either way.
Now THAT is the Rolo-coaster that makes our mainly cold rain and a little bit of snow events fun. 🙂
For this event so far the ride has been up, down, up, down and up. Cool.
we will see a cold ugly rain in southern/southeastern KY with some light snow showers and flurries on the tail end, as usual for us. Wasn’t expecting anything more than that from this system. Trend moved it steadily northward. Ah well better luck next time.
sleet, rain, AND snow in NE Louisville.
Temp 35.8
sleet, rain, AND snow in NE Louisville.
Temp 36
Brian Goode, wave3 said there will be 2 bands of heavy snow setting up tonight. One along and north of the river and a second one going through Bullitt Co and north eastward from there.
I’m in bullitt county ( Mount Washington), hopefully that pans out…
Heavy sleet in St. Matthews
Still no persistent snow in Owensboro. Only accumulation at this point is a trace of sleet. Should I be concerned about a bust? WSW still in effect until 6:00 AM.
I have seen these changeover occur 20 miles away and still take 3 – 4 hours to changeover in southern jefferson county/ northern bullitt county
Just changed over to sleet in St Matthews, east Louisville
No sleet or snow here in Valley Station, just rain and 36 degrees. If a prolonged period of sleet mixing with snow occurs overnight then 1-3″, otherwise 2-4″ for Louisville. That transition zone will be very close to Louisville. I would not be surprised if the Knobs in Floyd county Indiana get at least 4″ while Louisville only gets up to 2″, a difference of what, 10 miles or so?
all about placement Mike…
come to NE Louisville if you want to see some good snow!
Transitioning to heavy wet flakes as I type.
So, when you say Louisville only gets up to 2″, you mean SDF (airport) and points south/west.
We will get our 4″ on the east end. lol
Do you remember the year we got over a foot in Floyds Knobs and Louisville only got a couple of inches? We were out of school for a week and JCPS didn’t even have a delay. I want to say it was 1998 but can’t say for sure. We always get blasted up here. I love it and so do my kids…. Bring it Mother Nature. Lol.
I lived in Corydon then and we got like 20”. I’ll never forget that or 1994.
Well, correction…Sleet has mixed in and has dotted my deck in places…temp has dropped to 35 degrees, down 1 degree in the last few minutes.
I think most MET’s were calling for a transition over to sleet and snow after midnight.
So, there is the potential for that 4-6″ to actually happen across the city and surrounding areas.
Very heavy sleet falling at my house and now mixing with some snow. I’m near Bowman Field and Seneca Park. Temperature at my house of 34 degrees. Could this be an overachiever?
nope….because Bailey all along has said anywhere from 2-6″. So, if we get 4-6″, the overachiever status would be reserved for all of the expert MET’s who said only 1-3″. 🙂
Where are all the traffic and weather cams for tracking the snow?
good call…..CB may have forget this time around. Maybe, he will add them to the new update.
35 degrees here in Nelson County. Come on snow!
Sleet starting to mix w/ lt. rain in Bardstown. I still don’t care. {{{sigh}}}
Debbie I haven’t noticed it mixing in. Seems to be a light mist in eastern Bardstown.
Where are you? I’m right behind the new courthouse…..hang tight…gonna go check again (call 911 if I don’t come back within 5 min’s..ha-ha!)…okey-dokey…I’ve got on a dark shirt and there’s little white thingies bouncing off it (yeah, I had to go out in the street under the light, brave soul that I am…lol!), but not like it was before. Oh, well. Someday……looks like an Ohio River Runner once again! 🙁
anyone notice there are tornado warnings down south. This is a powerful storm system.
I see rain people. The sixth sense of modeling.
This is funny! Thanks!
Roger seeing big heavy snow in northwest KY near Henderson and Owensboro! Banding taking over. NWS saying 3-7″ in our area. Roger all smiles!
No snow in Owensboro yet. When does Rodger think it should start falling and piling up?
Sure Am jealous of everyone getting some of the white stuff. Sitting in Wayne wv wishing we were in on the action too.
Still all rain in Shelbyville. NWS says 3 inches for us and WAVE 3 has us on the edge of a second narrow band of 4-6. I would be very happy with 2 or 3 inches this early, hopefully it pans out!
Temperature is dropping pretty quickly now and sleet is starting to mix in.
Big flakes mixing in St Matthews now.
Bring it on!
Good thing we have a Cheesecake Factory in Lexington now, since easier to get to with cold/mix rain instead of snow 😉
These northern KY and Louisville folks needs to find their own blog. They bellyache every year about not getting snow, yet who’s getting hammered again?
Go Cats
No kidding. As I said before…if they forecast it for Bardstown, all I have to do is get in the car & drive north about 12 miles to see it! 🙁
well, look who jumped on the 3-5″ train….WDRB41 in Louisville. They have been steadfast and very adamant about Louisville not receiving more than 1-3″.
Better late than never. All abooooard!
20 minutes west of me, 2″ on the ground. Here: zilch. Pretty depressing when a bust seems to ear it’s ugly head so early. Only a few more hours of precip for Owensboro and we’ll be lucky to see any snow. 9 years living here and we ALWAYS get the short end of the stick. :\
rear its*
I wanted snow! 🙁 maybe next time.
Plain jane rain
I m gonna start living vicariously through northern kentucky. If I look at the pictures and then close my eyes I can see snow in lee co.
