Good later Thursday afternoon everyone. The snows across parts of the region really picked up in intensity this afternoon leading to reports of 3 or 4 inches in some spots. The northern half of the state appears to have got in on the heaviest band… but I have noticed a recent spike in the intensity across southeastern and eastern Kentucky lately.

The back edge of the steady, moderate to heavy snows will push through eastern Ky by late this evening. Snow showers and squalls are already building back to our west and northwest near Louisville. You can see it all here…

The snow showers and squalls will kick in later this evening and be on and off through Friday night and can deliver another 1″-3″ for much of the area. Before all is said and done… some spots are likely to have 6″ of snow on the ground.

Winds will pick up this evening and overnight as an arctic front swings through. This will create blowing and drifting snow and temps that crash into the high single digits and low teens by morning. Wind chill temps will be 0 to -10!

Sub zero temps are looking like a real possibility this weekend. Of course… you knew that was possible several days ago.

Keep posting your weather conditions and I will update later. Gotta go earn my paycheck!

Take care.
