Good Thursday evening, all. While heavy rain rules the roost for the next few days, I keep watching an interesting setup next week. It’s one that could bring a round of winter weather to parts of our region and would also hold any mild up at bay.
The European Model continues to blow up a HUGE storm across the northeast…

That’s a cold look around here, but one that keeps the main snow action to our northeast. It would spawn some snow showers and flurries, however.
The JMA has a more phased system that would give us a better shot at some snow…
It also shows a nice, seasonal blast of cold air through the middle of next week…
Enjoy the evening and take care.
no belief in the JMA.
maybe someday when the weather is quiet.
maybe somebody can explain to me what different data do these models inhale.
questions like does the JMA model performs better than the Gfs over the East Pacific Ocean.
it is quite obvious that’s a euro it’s better than the GFs here in North America.
TWC has Dec. warmer than average for the WHOLE month! Crazy.
what i can not understand is how different mets in the same area come up with so many different forecast…….example is last week at this time many mets that i will not name had 50s for highs all week this week and with today being thursday i have not seen 1 day out of the 40s and i 1 case out of the 30s……….CHRIS IS BY FAR THE BEST MET IN THE AREA OF WVA, KY. AND OHIO………IT GETS PRETTY BAD WHEN A PERSON FROM HUNTINGTON, WVA HAS TO GET ON THE INTERNET TO TUNE INTO CHRIS BAILEY TO HEAR HIS WEATHER FORECAST AND I ALSO LOOK AT THE BLOG SEVERAL TIMES A DAY………….CHRIS THANK YOU FOR ALWAYS KEEPING US INFORMED NOT ONLY IN LEXINGTON, KY. BUT ALSO IN WAYNE, WVA……ITS AN HONOR TO BE ABLE TO GET ACCURATE WEATHER FORECAST FROM YOU.
Eh..Give it time…Pattern should flip around Christmas..Weak El-Nino will deliver for J,F,M..
Winter Cancel!! Big Bad Blowtorch firing up next week and, by most accounts, will persist into late month.
Please stop trolling
Apologies CB. Honestly, I’m trying to recover from Pneumonia, and this wet and cold weather just makes things miserable for me. At this point I would take some prolonged sun and warmth.
I know you could dial up a nice winter pattern for all of us if you could, but I just don’t see it happening CB. Been living here for over 40 years and I firmly believe in my analogy that Kentucky winters are dead on like UK football. Always looks promising at the start, then falls to mediocre or worse by midseason.
does anybody think we will have snow for Christmas. I sure hope so.
