Good evening, gang. It’s another ugly evening across the bluegrass state with temps with some drops and flakes giving way to mainly flakes. That carries us into a colder Wednesday with some more flakes flying around.

The pattern for the rest of the week continues to show our huge upper low spinning to our northeast. That keeps out temps colder than normal and also tries to throw more clouds into town.

I continue to struggle with what to do with the weekend. The trend is to shunt a lot of the mild to our west and northwest continues with the GFS Ensembles control run taking it a step further. It drops that upper low back to the south by Sunday…

GFS

The European Model from a few days ago had something similar. If that were to happen, temps would remain pretty chilly through the weekend with more clouds around.

Whatever happens to our temps this weekend, another system should quickly close in on us from the west late Monday into Tuesday. The Canadian model shows the upper low cruising right on top of us…

That would bring some wintry weather our way with a track like that.

You will see some wild model swings with that system because we have so much upper level energy. This pattern has one of the more active jet stream’s that you will ever see and that’s likely to lead to some extreme weather down the road.

The Ensembles from all the models are suggesting winter really cranks up during Christmas week. Check out the setup…

CanadianThat could be fun!

Enjoy the evening and take care.
