Good Sunday to one and all. The major winter storm that blasted the state has left one heck of a mark. Thousands of people remain without power after close to a foot of heavy wet snow fell across parts of the region. Travel was a nightmare as hundreds, if not thousands, were stranded for a long period of time as the snow came down fast and furious.

I wrote a blog at the end of November titled Old Man Winter Will Own You!  detailing what I thought would become a very wintry period that would give the naysayers a dose of reality. That happened this week as the storm was way underplayed by many. This is not the winter to mail it in… old man winter is in no mood to mess around so you had better bring your A game or he will own you.

Let’s move on to what is going on with this active pattern as we head into Christmas week.

We will continue to see some light snows across the area early today before we break out into mostly cloudy skies. Our attention will quickly turn to a clipper moving in this evening into early Monday.  Here is a radar to track the snows…

The NAM is saying the best chance for a light snowfall would be more toward central into southeastern Kentucky..

A big storm will crank up in the days leading up to Christmas and should bring a wide variety of weather to us and that is something we will be talking much more about with an update coming later today. Have a great Sunday and take care.
