Good evening everyone. We are still in WINTER STORM THREAT mode with a likely upgrade to ALERT coming later this evening. I am working at the real job right now so I don’t have a lot of time to post. Here are my thoughts…
1. Winter Storm Watch out for southeastern Kentucky is not far enough west and north! This should include every county in eastern Kentucky!!!!
2. Rain and snow will break out from south to north Friday morning into the afternoon. Temps will drop as the precip starts and snow will take over.
3. Heavy bands of snow will set up Friday night into Saturday.
4. I will have a snowfall map online this evening. My early thoughts range from 2″-4″ in Lexington metro to more than a foot across extreme southeastern Ky. The map will fill in the rest for you.. but you get the idea.
5. This should be a wet snow meaning the areas who get pounded with the highest totals may have some power problems.

2-4 has been very consitent with gfs for lex, for once i am glad to be in southern lex, getting my max snow potential :D, may have to drive to eky though if i dont get enought here :D. i also agree with bubba g i think this could either pither out and be much less significant or it could end up being big the lines are so fine.

Chris, I totally agree with you on the Watch not being far enough west. Of course, I thought at first it was just because I got left out….LOL! NWS Jackson seems to underestimate snowfall totals in this area on a regular basis.
Looking forward to seeing that snowfall map later, as well as the live chat!
I think all of us have 2-4 for lexington what an unusual occurance that we all agree. look foward to the chat i for one will be on.

i am in 5-6” in south lex looks like pike county is game for well over 12”

Once again, it’s raining in Corbin and London … no snow.
every model run keeps trending this thing further and further west. have a feeling this will continue and we could see a nice storm for most of KY.

WLEX in Lexington still giving Lexington area only up to 2 inches of snow from this.

HPC says D.C and Baltimore may get as much as THREE FEET of snow. Geeeez.

🙁 I hope its rain.. A lot of people went to bed cold last week when the power was out, if this wet snow comes to fruition many people will be without power and will be cold. You can keep it.

Well, some of you have gotten to see Chris “first call” map, but some of us have not….I really do not expect Somerset to get more than an inch or two….that weems to be our limit, although the one two weeks ago did put down 3 here at the ranch! 😉

I’ve been hearing some stuff from forecasters around the Wilmington, NC area this evening and they seem to think the western trend is going to continue. All snow here and more than the GFS is currently showing….
Think London,Somerset, Mt. Vernon, Monticello areas see 1-2″ at most…maybe tad more towards London, Corbin

Rolo, I have lost over 50 pounds since February, and I took appetite supressant pills for one month….till I got used to eating 1000 calories a day. Diet pills are dangerous! We need you around to help track these snows!

I think this storm looks alot like the “DUSTING” of 1998! What do u think abouthe snow totals here in Pulaski Co. U say 2-4 but my gut tells me more! What do u think?
We got hosed last year in Pulaski County….Didnt Jackson get tons of snow last year? We literally hadnt covered the grass for several years until the small one we had this year….crazy!!
