Good Sunday evening everyone. Here is hoping you have had a great weekend. The weather was a bit on the bummer side today with clouds, showers and a chill in the air. The pattern that will be leading us up to and then through the upcoming holiday will be one that brings some fun to a whole lot of people across the country and that is likely to include us.

We have broken down the week ahead pretty good already. Cold shot coming for mid week then a clipper for the end of the week. It is what digs in behind this clipper that can really get things cranking as the overall look suggests a big time storm will crank across the eastern half of the country. All the models not named the GFS are showing this for next weekend in some form or fashion. The term “old school” may be used before all is said and done. Now… that does not mean thats what will happen around here!! It just says the pattern has the LOOK!

That is as far as the morning model run goes out but you have to love the cold high to our north with low pressure in the gulf. The European Model shows something similar, although a big more progressive with the overall flow…

The JMA model goes nuts with this storm and would represent a fairly extreme event.

Just something to keep track of this week and that is what we will be doing here at the center! Beyond this weekend… cold really takes hold and snow chances will be plentiful!
