Good Sunday to one and all and thanks for dropping by the blog. Our wet weather maker is rolling across the region today bringing numerous showers to us. These will continue into early afternoon before slowing ending from west to east. Any way you slice it… today is going to be a pretty ugly day.
That is what is going on with the short term.. the longer term looks cold and we are seeing a trend toward something brewing for the end of next week into the weekend that needs to be watched. In the short term… you can just watch the radar..
Temps today will warm into the low to mid 40s as the showers roll on. The rest of the forecast looks like this…
1. Monday looks like a pretty good day with temps actually warming toward 50 under partly sunny skies.
2. Tuesday will see a decent cold front working in. This will bring a few showers and falling temps. Some flurries will be possible behind the front.
3. Wednesday looks cold.
4. I mentioned to be on clipper lookout for the end of next week into next weekend. The models are now showing a pretty robust clipper diving in here that could develop into a pretty big storm across the eastern part of the country. This has potential! ![]()
5. That same clipper will usher in the coldest temps of the winter to date and will bring us a pattern that will try to lock in. This would give us a good shot at some snow for Christmas toward New Year’s! ![]()
I will give you guys more thoughts later today. Have a great Sunday and take care.

Thanks Mr Bailey for all your hard work now get some sleep
Always a big snow storm seven days out.
no a clipper will bring snow, but any storem in s or east will u guessed it over power the cold as this sysatenm we are getting now did.
clippers can be NAUGHTY OR NICE as well…NICE if your on the northeastern side of the clipper, where all the snow is…very NAUGHTY if your on the southern, and western side of the storm, where warmer, partly cloudy, and even light rain LURKS!!…lol..
Rain,fog
DREARY MORNING..

Did you get your house in Tim ?
TODAY ON….AS THE MODEL TURNS…
06z run…CHRISTMAS STORM…..
It appears the storm on this model today, has chosen not to be a WHITE CHRISTMAS MAKER, but instead a RAINSTORM on the 27th, that turns into a wind whipped snow storm on the backside….
rainy side…

A classic that never grows old, Bing Crosby’s …WHITE CHRISTMAS…
If it’s that close this far out, you can assure it will be all rain…
Cold come in = Dry
Warm comes in = Rain
Just like ole’ Yogi Berra said, “It;s deja vu all over again”…
…
eventually one will work out, have faith snowdome remove your dome!!! please!! 😀
Boyle County- Temp. 53* rainfall .28″ since midnight. Cloudy (11:30am)
The clipper could give the area up to 2″, but I am not seeing anything that suggests we are not mainly on the rain side for the events next week. Kentucky = fence and we are the rain side of it.
We need one actual result to bust the trend:)
Funny how when the models forecast nothing a week out, they are usually correct, but when they predict initial snow solutions for the area, they are almost always wrong.
CB earns every penny he gets, since forecasting snow for this area is like
picking lotto numbers;)
All I can say is a rainstorm on Christmas weekend would suck! Who do we write our complaints to!?! I’ll be in the Chicagoland area and probably be seeing white whether it is already on the ground or freshly falling from the sky… But… It would suck for you guys! Still a long way off! Hold out hope!!! Snowshoe trip tomorrow! Yippeee!!!!
Not disputing the BubbaCast.. but…
2″ x 6 clippers = 12″ not bad for the week of christmas! 😉
Also Christmas storm will get very interesting as we get closer.. I see a westerly trend coming on. 🙂
Agreed! Just would be nice to see the fence not set up to where it always seems to for non-clippers:)
if all we get is a bunch of 2 inch snows it may as well not snow 🙁 imo
i am tripping up to michigan during my christmas break for some snow boarding near battle creek and am going to do some snow shoeing and ice fishing!! see why i don’t have any friends, its hard being jeremiah jonhson!!!
Awwww, tommy…I’m your friend…anyone that likes both snow AND fishing of any sort rates quite high on my list of ‘friendable’!
(And yes, I can bait my own hook, throw out a line, and take the fish off, tyvm-my hubby of 24 yrs still gets off on that fact. LOL!)
Enjoy your trip!:)
Well, I guess waht we need to do is just to get through today, and use tomorrow to get going and enjoy the warmth, as that looks like the warmest day of the forecast, as I see it.
Ah,Bubba, someday our ship (aka snowstorm) will come in. but then, isn’t that what people who dream of big lottery winnings say, too? 😉
I say we will see some snow befoer the winter is out…..how much…well that depends on whether or not we can tear down the fence with one good system or not! Got the crowbar ready. Anyone care to join in? 😀
Thanks, Chris. Looking forward to the nest update!
Lol…thats clever Tim. I’ll be sure to tune in for the next episode 😉
I’m ready for a snowstorm to watch! How fun would it be to have a snowstorm to watch on the models for Christmas week?! I hate it when I start talking about stuff that is probably too good to be true…sigh.
Anybody know if there have been any changes with the 12z and 18z model runs for the systems later this week and next weekend?

watched the battle of yellow flags today
But Bubba!
Even if, say we do get a 20 inch BIG snow storm (like Feb 1998), who’s to say that will bust the trend? It certainly didn’t BUST the trend in the years following it.
