Good evening gang. One heck of a storm is cranking across the plains states and this is effecting a whole lot of people, including right here in Kentucky.
A HIGH WIND WARNING is in effect for much of the state late tonight into Wednesday for possible wind gusts of 50mph+. I would highly recommend taking the necessary steps to secure any loose objects around your house. Christmas lights and decorations are in trouble! ![]()
For this evening and tonight… it’s the rain that is the problem. Amounts of 1″-2″ will be common as rounds of heavy downpours roll through. You can track the rains here..
Thermometers will rise tonight and we will head toward 50 by daybreak before crashing into the low 30s by late afternoon. You can track the temps, rainfall and winds right here…

I will have another update coming later tonight so check back. Since I am wheels up at 6:40am flying to NYC to watch the Cats play tomorrow and staying through Friday.. your post times will be a little off. But… I will try my best. ![]()
Take care.

Could someone please explain something to me. It seems to me that with all the rain being forecast, there would be a Flash Flood Watch. Why is there not one?
Lightning in NW LEX
Seem like I remember back in 77-78 the word BLIZZARD flying around. Many areas north of us have BLIZZARD warnings not sure if that means anything for us.
Lightening detected between US68 and US421. At least 8 strokes in last hour.
Thanks Chris for the update.
Here is a good one. Wicked pics of ’77 Blizzard.

Using LEX normals, the average temperature is running 5 full degrees below average in Lawrenceburg so far this month. Wow.
You know, after reading the discussion from LMK this afternoon, the Christmas decorations are starting to be lesser concerns to me, and now I’m getting worried about shingles and siding blowing off houses instead.
Chris, have a good trip to New York. I’ve always found the best way to get a good dinner there at a tolerable price is to hit the Irish bars. Get some bangers and mash or fish and chips for less than $10.00. If you want to splurge, try Pietro’s, an italian place near Grand Central. Great food, but worth the trip to see the coat check lady. She’s been there since I first ate there in the early 90’s. She’s blind, uses no tags, and gets everyone’s coats right, by feel, scent, I have no idea, but it is amazing.

ok all together,,
WAA!!!!WAA!!!!WAA!!! IS what i like to call our WINTER WEATHER KILLER and if the pattern this winter is going to be different then next week storm we will DEFEAT WAA!!!
if next week storms moves west as the past decade has shown us, then u can FORGET BOUT A BIG ONE again this year.
so MYSELF I think next week MONSTER will set the table for the resat of the winter as far as PATHS of the storms. will the WEST TRENDS keep a coming as we get close or FINALLY will the SNOWDOME be BLOWN STRAIGHT H E doubble LLS!!
warm air will keep weekend just wet if we get any precip as well.
uhh really? that been my concern from start as thats what happen last year when IKE moved thru, who gives aISH about Chritmas decoration anyway.
really unlewss u have kids people should be ashamed to put up all that nonsense anyway.
DEE THE NWS is pitiful as a whole,
the water is already at bank full in places here in Manchester and look at radar, but nooo the NWS is worried bout the wind and people Christmas lights etc.lol
moderate rain now here in GUNXHESTER.
i may be wrong but i think there is some lightening out here in west lex or transformers?
Maybe the NWS is putting the Darwin Theory to a test?
I take it that you don’t believe in Jesus Christ?
Rolo buddy you don’t have much sense do ya pal, do you not understand the importance of christmas in a country that was based on Christ…so really more people should put the decorations up and the morons that don’t believe its neccessary need to be ashamed to even think a thought like what you said
Slack off, back off and getta grip…this Grandma says slow down and put the pot back on simmer! Take not offense and accept that in this season, especially, kindness, tolerance and being NICE are the meaning of the season. And the rest of the year, too. Disagree without becoming disagreeable.
I don’t think he meant it that way. Many people who believe in Jesus don’t decorate outside at Christmas. My parents don’t, but not because they don’t believe, but because they have no young children at home.
Funny! I lived in England for four years and my wife is from there. Do no forget the Bubble % Squeak.
Fish & chips are good over there, but maaaan they can be greasy! I needed many beers to function like Draino on that stuff;)
Rolo, everyone else will get snow, but we are getting a Windy Wet Willy!
Funny that the snow looked good LAST week for this week and nowwww’ it looks good for NEXT week;)
See a pattern;) 🙂
Non-north Kentucky squad, report in! Yes sir!
Rain? Here sir!
Wind? Here sir!
Ice? Here sir!
Verga? Here sir!
Trailing snow showers? Here sir!
Snow above the ankle? Went to Texas, sir!
🙂
If only we lived in “Next Week”…
The memories we would be having… ahhhhhh
…
WOW…somewhere in the middle of the BLIZZARD…6+ inches fell in just 2 hrs. with thunder!!!!….amazing!!!
ahhh…man!!!, just missed the mizer brothers on ABC family…LOL…..HEAT MIZER/SNOW MIZER!!!
yea BUBBA if next week doesnt pan out I will be back full bore aboard the
SNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOWDOME TRAIN!!
Tommy, in blizzards, thundersnow is very common. That is why they produce so much snow so fast. I think you mentioned severalinches ina couple of hours? Now THAT’s snowin’!
Chris, looking forward to the next update. Also, have a GREAT trip. question though…with the high wind warnings, are there chances of flight delays? Just wondering….;)
Enjoy! Hopefully, you will bring them luck!
Lisa, I agree I don’t belive Rolo meant it that way But you sure have to watch what you say on here or be like myself just don’t comment much at all.
Posted this earlier today but it never got past moderation. Streaming cam from Iowa Blizzard http://webcam.coolstreaming.us/show_live.php?id=50075&size=large
Fish and Chips … Every Friday night I would walk down to our local chippie for some fish and chips and have it wife my wife while we watched Coronation Street. I am five years back in KY after 14 in England. Glad to be home but I miss my other home as well.
Oh yeah — Bring on the snow and Steelers Rock!
i agree you don’t have to put up decorations to believe in Jesus, but I don’t agree with the attitude that celebrating Christ is nonsense whether it be with or without children…so I say let the wind blow and tie down your CHRISTmas decorations if you have them…just don’t take Christ out of it with a stinkin attitude of nonsense
on model front the EURO is basically showing next week storm as well, so the GFS is not a lone wolf on this.
weekend maybe a few showers/sleet but tempws above freezing.
just watch TAKEN, pretty darn good movie if I might say..
Speaking of FLASH FLOODING… I just drove from Gatlinburg and just finally got home. What a trip. Water everywhere, fog on Jelico Mtn., there were a lots of water standing in the road and I almost lost it several times. There were times it was raining so hard that you couldn’t see the road. I feel really fortunate to have made it this far. There should have been a flash flood watch as the ditches were filled with water… couldn’t see the streams as it was dark. The winds are really getting in gear out there also.
cold front is approaching western ky
Euro has the the early next week for the last several runs, it’s a good bet that the there will be a storm of intrest now the gfs is on board.
Mitch, Snow or Rain?
awesomeness awesomeness!!! no matter where i have to drive in north america i will experience that, after school i think i want to chase snowstorms, during the winter lol
Good job of getting people going on here. BUT, I’m not ashamed to put up decorations. I love Jesus, and I really enjoy decorating for His birthday. YOU need to be ashamed to say something like that, friend.
can some one give their opinion on next week and please post euro and gfs??? thanks!!!
Just read LMK AFD for the long range. They are pretty much saying not much with the weekend system and that southern areas would be all rain with only snow in Northern KY and Southern IND. and are saying not much of anything.

Rolo, Careful Bubba, Hate to tell you but you deserve most of those comments. I’ve supported ya in the past but don’t cross this line.
weekend storm not much in my view light frz rain or rain with light amounts.
early next week the models are having problems figuring it out right now there apperas to be a warm-up for sunday into tuesday then a low pressure to travel along a arctic boundary which comes crashing through Tuesday.Right now i see a low forming off the texas coastline early Tuesday and riding northeast east of the apps with arctic air coming in behind the system meaning snow more likely over rain. A lot of things have to go right for this outcome though and they usually don’t for ky.
Bubba G, It’s only Dec 8th. ( and I continue to keep telling myself that)
I preferred Minder, Fools and Horses and The Young Ones 🙂 Great shows to sit and watch with a good Indian take out dinner:)
I lived in the London area: St Johns Wood, Hendon and Northolt.
“A lot of things have to go right for this outcome though and they usually don’t for ky.”….YOU GOT THAT RIGHT!!!! LOL I mean I never remember so many systems being Great Lake Cutters???? Systems use to come out of the 4 corners and track due east and systems would pass to the south of KY. The last 10yrs it seems like there is a buckle in the jet and it makes a straight line for the Lakes…what gives? Then if we do get a system to pass to the south its either WAA or it tracks to far south and east or temps were too warm or storms in the gulf robbed the moisture..etc. etc. etc..lol Can’t catch a break for a snow storm
Agreed, but the opportunities are already passing by. This type of system hit us with snow in December 89. Gotta laugh and have fun:)
Just takes one trend buster to get things started in the right direction:)
I wonder if 11 years is the longest gap without one six inch or more snow for central KY? Just need one to start fresh!
The credit loans seem to be very useful for people, which would like to start their own company. As a fact, it is easy to receive a credit loan.
I had got a desire to make my own company, however I didn’t earn enough amount of money to do that. Thank God my friend recommended to take the business loans. Thus I used the bank loan and realized my desire.
