Good Friday to one and all. We are kicking off this weekend on a rather cold note across the state with many areas waking up to the lowest temps of the young fall season. Nothing like putting a little Brrr into the middle of your September!

Some of our official reporting stations may flirt with record lows this morning.  All of this is dependent on clouds not keeping our temps up this morning. That is possible for some areas… especially central and west. My question for you is… How low did you go? Let us know about the temps you had to start out this Friday. You can also follow the chilly temps here…

Today’s Lows

Currents

Highs today will hit the low and mid 60s for many areas. We will still have a bit of a breeze out there to add to the October feel. Clouds will be on and off as a weak disturbance impacts the area. I can’t rule out a wayward shower or a few sprinkles across the south during this time.

Our weekend will see some milder air fighting back in as high temps return to the low and mid 70s. We will still have a fair amount of clouds during this time and those clouds may bring a scattered shower in here for Sunday. I can’t rule one or two out late tonight or early Saturday.

This weekend is also the Battle Of The Bluegrass out at Commonwealth Stadium. Kickoff between the Cats and Cards will feature a few clouds around and temps in the upper 60s to around 70. Much of the game will be played with readings in the 60s. Tailgating weather looks to feature some clouds and I can’t wait to spend the day doing just that!! If you are having a tailgate and want me to crash it… just let me know. I can be bought! haha

The weather for next week will become fairly active as we get in on good slug of moisture resulting in on and off showers and thunderstorms. The middle and end of next week is likely to feature an upper level low cutting off somewhere across our region. This would result in an increase in rain and provide us with another cool down. Here is how the 6-10 day average of the European Model looks…

You can clearly see that cutoff low right on top of the Ohio Valley. We first talked about this possibility several days back and many of the models are now going in that direction. The GFS shows the rainfall potential from this setup for next week…

We shall see how it all plays out. In the short term… it’s all about the October weather of this Friday. Be sure to post your low temps for the weather world to see.

Have a great Friday and take care.
