Good Thursday evening gang and thanks for making the blog your weather source! Your friendly weather dude is hard at work right now (my nose is growing as I type that) but I thought I would drop in for a quick few words.
The models have been going back and forth in exact track for the Saturday system. It continues to look like a glancing blow of snow for the eastern half of the state. The last two runs of the NAM conitnue to bring a light snowfall into southeastern Kentucky. The Morning run was farther west and snowier…
Tomorrow’s runs will decide if this is only a light snowfall or something a little more for eastern parts of the state.
You want to see something that will make you mad? Check out this snowfall map…
Yes… that is snow for Houston, Texas and parts of Louisiana! Winter Storm Watches are out down there for what would be Houston’s earliest ever recorded snowfall. The old record was set way back on December 10, 2008. ![]()
In other news… a big ticket storm is on the menu for next week and this may impact my flight to see the Cats play in New York City next week. More on that storm with the next update tonight.
Just to tease you even more. Here is an oldie but a goodie…
Take care
man the 0z runs are nice looking, I BELUEVE!! come on,
we might wake up to a snoddragger with morning runs u never know.
Now your singin’ my kinda song Rolo!! 🙂
those er the dayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyssssssss!! man I pay 5 figures to get a BIG DADDY AGAIN CB, seriously.
96 repeat would be very nice!
I actually think idf u live in se/e ky u going get a few inches of snow, sharp cutoff.
the runs are actually getting better as they come in today.
maybe if i take the church 5 figures this week the ole man above might provide us with OLD SCHOOL 2009/2010!!!
I’m not too impressed with those snowfall totals for my area…but I’ll take what I can get. If the Tarheels win on Saturday, I might not even care that it won’t snow here! 😉
man that brings back memories of the weather channel forecasting weather. That was a great storm for southern NJ when i grew up as a kid, I think that was the one time where snow was up to my waist, I was only 10 then. It’s the same deal there with snow instead of waa it’s warm ocean water which changes snow to rain.
Another thing to mention is the potential for a wintry mix early Monday, i don’t if it was discussed earlier.
Only 3 days in…but so far the average temp. at my house has been 41.0 degrees. LEX normal would be 40.0, LOU normal would be 41.0…so we are right on the money. We may go slightly below average this weekend.
LOL..
This map tells the tale of our 11 year drought…

“Snow to left of me, Snow to right, here I am, Stuck in the middle again”

Another awesome map that shows the possible snow storms over the next few days…

Sad folks, just plain sad…. lol
…
wxman: Another heartbreaker for WKU football. I guess we’ll have to wait to next season for a win. they only lost every way known to man this year.
Well, Chris, the maps are leaving us out again….but, its early….so I am not giving up hope for the season…..it looks like at least someone in the state will see snow….maybe next time it will be us….
Looking forward to the next update, Chris. Hopefully, the news will be better for a few more of us.
Have a good night, all. And Mitch, don’t fret. WKU will get the hang of the new conference before you know it. We were rooting for them, too!
Lol at the 24-hour snowfall record set at Cincinnati during the Blizzard of ’96 – 12.8″. That only lasted 2 years.
Old school WX Channel sure was warm and friendly. Those days are long gone. Now its all doom and gloom Jim Cantore in your face. I can’t bear to watch anymore.
Another tough year for Topper football… hopefully the Basketball season will be better.
hey CB accuweather is saying there could be a major snowstorm next week whats ur thoughts on that???
There will be, just not in Kentucky apparently….
…
can somwone please post the 0Z runs??…. have they trended west?
I’m sure it will be Shane, hard to beat last year.
nope, that map above looks about right maybe flurries in lexington dustings from jackson east and 1-3 toward the wv/va lines.
its all cool tho i like watchin for em weather they impact us or not. but it would be nice to get it
monday morning snow, sleet or ice looking a bit more likely someone could see an inch of snow if things work out right.
Man that does hurt…lol. The storms up north is bad enough because we see that so many times each winter. However once you add the storms to the south too…thats when the pain really sets in!
0z NAM did indeed shift a TAD bit west not much however. 0z GFS was almost identical to the 18z but maybe in the slightest moved a tad west as well. Nothing major but still 36 hours from the storm I wouldn’t be suprised if eastern ky got a good snow out of this. I also wouln’t be suprised if they didn’t either. It’s a toss up right now.
The 0Z NAM was optimistic for SE KY. Some of ya’ll might get some snow but I wouldn’t bet the farm on it.

What are you talking about? WKU has a perfect record!! LOL.
