Good Friday everyone and welcome the 13th day of the month of November. Yes, this is Friday the 13th so if you are into that kind of thing… you may just want to stay in bed all day!
The weather out there today should balance out any negative forces this “unlucky” day may bring.
As a matter of fact… the weekend looks pretty darn good too. It is once past the weekend that changes to the weather pattern begin showing up. Here is how the forecast shakes out…
– Temps today will warm to near 60 under partly sunny skies.
– The weekend looks awesome… especially Saturday. Temps will warm well into the mid and upper 60s in most areas for Saturday.
– Sunday will see a weak cold front dropping southeastward into the region. This will knock temps down a bit as clouds increase. We may also see a shower threat late Sunday into early Monday and the NAM is picking up on this…
Monday Morning
Our cutoff area of low pressure will be developing in the southern plains Monday and will slowly meander northeast toward the Great Lakes. The European Model seems to have the best handle on how this system evolves…
That would bring showers and much cooler air in here for the middle and end of next week. The chill will come from the pure dynamics of this upper level low as the TRUE cold air is still locked up in northern Canada. As we have blogged about… signs continue to show up that this cold air will finally begin to move southward into the US Thanksgiving week. The GFS continues to be on the cold train…

Thanksgiving Day
As with anything… we shall see! ![]()
Have a great Friday the 13th and take care.

hopefully nothing to weird will happen tommorow on the 13th, I’m on central time so it’s not the 13th yet in BWG.
Enjoy the weekend folks b/c our old friend Mr.overcast is coming back by monday.
Hey Mitch! We miss you here in Versailles. You’re at WKU with my son. If you see a red head that went to Woodford with you that’s my boy. I think he remembers you from HS but graduated in 2006.
31 degrees this morning and so much for not scraping the frost
I’ve been watching TWC’s coverage on the Noreaster. The scary thing about it is how little it’s moved in the last few days.
I’m looking forward to a nice and dry weekend, hope you all have a great one!
Mornin’ chris and everyone….glad that the weather today is lucky looking. Hope we don’t get a lot of ‘breeay’ as I am fighting with an ear infection in both ears…..we still plan to put up the outdoor lights over the weekend, I think. (Chris, it was your extended forecast that turned the tide! 😉 )
Anyway, hope everyone has a GREAT Friday, and don’t forget that our CATS open tonight! GO BIG BLUE!!!
How lucky are we? Two consecutive weekends with sunshine and 70s in November?! Wow. In fact, except for a couple of drops (literally) on the 4th, we’ve had ZERO precip. this month and temps. are above average. A good turn around finally.
CB’s winter forecast should be posted on Monday. We do not want to see the work “mild”, since that will expose us to more chances of ice IMO.
Then again the 70s vibe would have been a red herring.
This should be a colder than laster year for this part of the country, so with moisdture hanging around, there should be some good chances of snow.
Just do not look at the last eleven years of trends and you will be OK 😉
Weird, my post is before I fixed the typos.
I meant well anyways 🙁
“With no rain in the forecast through Sunday, November 15th, the first half of the month looks to tie with two other years for the driest on record.” -NWS Louisville
Do you forecast any 0 or below temps for this winter?
Dropped down to 29 last night here in Fleming Co.
This is the only game of the year where I will not root for UK. Lets go Morehead!!!!! Stick it to the blue brother!
The 16 day GFS plots continue to show a chance of some frozen precip near Thanksgiving. It also continues to indicate temperatures air and ground would not be supportive of accumulation. After having watched the trend for many days it suggest to me at best possibly some flakes in the air and in spotty areas maybe a brief dusting. The uncertainty of course is how cold and timing/track of precip. Looks pretty usual to me as it seems not uncommon to have some flurries near thanksgiving. That of course all can change.http://wxweb.meteostar.com/sample/sample.shtml?text=KDVK“>http://wxweb.meteostar.com/sample/sample.shtml?text=KDVK

As a winter weather fanatic I generally look at the 16 day to see if I think there is anything worth looking deeper into. This is only one mans opinion.
Below zero is actually pretty hard to come by around here. Last year we did it multiple times. I think I hit -4°F at my house once. That’s COLD for Kentucky! I think this year we will maybe have one or two spells where we get close to zero and that’s all.
12z gfs does show thanksgiving flurries.
It also shows possible flurries or light rain for Black Friday. IF the GFS verifies, a lot of folks will not want to get out and shop early that day.
I’m still on my Nov.22-23 kick, as I posted a month or so ago…give or take a day either way…in other words..
Nov.21-Nov.24…Cold. Snow.(some shape, form, fashion, wee bit, middlin’, whole bunches…???!)
Let’s leave it @ that.:)
sorry but we have had more than a few drops and has been more recent that the 4th wrong again buddy
thanks for your thoughts Bubba G
We ALWAYS “mean well”, Bubba…it’s just that some of these ppl here…?!..well, they just tend to ‘backsplash” (I was trying to think of a better word, I couldn’t…lol)on us “self-predicter’s”??! (Hey, you guys…we TRY to show ya how it’s DONE, but does anyone “WATCH & LEARN”???!-Hel-lo, NOOOO!);)
Cold. Snow. 22-23…NO-VEMB-ERRRR…..?!;)
I’m talking about LEX and FFT which have both only had a couple of drops, literally hundredths of an inch, all month. So I’m NOT wrong buddy. You barely even live in Kentucky. 🙂
just as barely as you do Buddy maybe next time talk about lex and FFT and not speak for everybody 😉
Everybody does it BubbaG! I do ALL the time!! Makes no difference amoung friends!
