Good Sunday everyone. It is hard to believe it has been 10 years since our country was shaken to its core by the events of September 11, 2001. We all remember exactly where we were on the fateful morning and the feeling of that day is forever engrained in each of us. Our country will pause today to remember the lives lost and the heroic actions of so many on that September day and many of us will do so in our own private way. I know I will.

As far as the weather goes… it’s fall and the pattern for the week ahead will feature more of it.

Our short term will feature scattered showers and thunderstorms across much of the region today. We will have to watch for a strong storm or two with hail and high winds.

The new week will start off on a better note with temps making a run toward 80 for many on Monday. There will still be a small threat for an afternoon shower or thunderstorm in the east. Tuesday will see winds and clouds both increase as highs top out near 80 or a few degrees better.

A cold front arrives on Wednesday with scattered showers and thunderstorms. This front will usher in another big time shot of cool air for the end of the week into next weekend. I am still not sure whether or not this front checks up with waves of low pressure bringing some rounds of rain into Thursday and Friday.

One thing I am certain of…it’s going to get very cool again. Look at the departures showing up on the GFS…

There is a very real chance we see another string of days with highs in the 60s. If skies are clear…overnight lows could flirt with records.

Let’s track today’s weather…

Have a great Sunday. Take care and God Bless America.
