Good Thursday afternoon. I wanted to drop by for a quick update as a pretty good batch of showers and thundershowers has developed across western Kentucky into much of Tennessee. This appears to be on the nose of the warmest air surging northward toward us. Take a look…
Will this stuff be able to hold together as it moves in? Time will certainly tell but western and southern Kentucky will have the best shot at seeing some drops from all this.
The rest of the forecast is pretty much status quo with no changes to the weekend ideas.
A massive snowstorm is finally pulling out of Colorado after dumping one to two feet of snow. I have some fresh pics for your fantasizing pleasure…

First one to blink loses! ![]()
I will have another update later this afternoon or evening. Take care.

Fantasizing is correct.
WOW! What amazing pictures out of Colorado. I saw some pictures of snow drifts as high as the roof tops of a house.
Now THAT is what we need in KY. Forget the ice……
the 12z gfs has changed in tune big time for the long range now more in line with the euro ensembles.
Those pics are why I am going to end up in Colorado or Alaska. You just do not get that here, heck areas like northern ky that have good winters do usually get over 30 or so inches a season, and that much falls in one storm out there!!! Not only that but alaska and colorado do not have to deal with the cold we do, maybe the coast of alaska but the interior is like colorado very dry, the dry cold is much more tolerable than our wet cold. Yep when you think about it Jeremiah Johnson knew that living in the pow pow was the only way some of us can live!! Give me pow or give me death!! lol no one loves snow more than me!!!
Shoot, Chris! Makes me want it to snow….but instead, it looks like we are a fixin’ to get rain…..again…oh well. WE take what we get!
interesting, lol no 360 hour snowstorms
That last picture is incredible! Thanks for sharing Chris.
Eastern Kentucky usually fairs even better than Northern Kentucky in terms of snowfall, especially last winter! Black Mountain is Kentucky’s Denver 😉
I love the cats face. It is like “Mom, what is this thing outside my window?”
All it needs is a shiny nose!
I think it needs taters and a little salt….mmmm…..mmmmm….good!
Awesome pictures Chris! Got me in the mood for some snow. Might some flurries in the WV Mountains Tuesday morning I think.
No one loves snow more than you except for ME, tommy…and I have the advantage on you by what I am assuming to be several years’ worth MORE of loving it!!! 😉
Hey MikeM!!!!! How are you?
For a couple of days now, GFS has advertised some sort of tropical system to affect the east coast toward the middle of November. Anybody noticed that? That could be interesting.
This is such a great resource that you are providing and you give it away for free. I love seeing websites that understand the value of providing a quality information. Thanks for sharing.
Informative and persuasive.
I am glad that your blog is constantly evolving.
Cool. We are waiting for new messages on the same topic:)
