Good Saturday everyone. I am dropping in for a quick update on things to start our the weekend and will hopefully have another post coming your way this afternoon. The big news of the day is the much colder temps moving into the area. The big news in the extended is the potential for a wild pattern to close out the month into Halloween Weekend.

Here is a look at the headlines…

1. Temps today will fall from early morning readings in the 50s and will hit the upper 40s this afternoon. Winds will be rather gusty as well with the chance for a shower or two.

2. Sunday starts cold with low and mid 30s but turns out nice as temps warm to near 60 under partly sunny skies.

3. A weak system drops in for later Monday into Tuesday and will bring an increase in clouds and some showers. This system has the potential to trend a little stronger so we should keep an eye on it. As of now… highs will warm into the low 60s Monday then fall back into the upper 50s for Tuesday.

4. This will take us toward the end of the week. I warned you a few days ago that the models would go crazy trying to handle the pattern and that is certainly the case. It is a wild pattern taking shape so you should expect the models to go astray. The European Model is suffering from it’s typical bias of holding on to energy in the southwest so it is no longer on my “trust” list. Not that any model really is right now. The GFS has actually shown some consistency in the past day or so as it brings a strong cold front through here later Thursday… very close to what the European had been showing…

Here is what it shows in terms of actual weather…

Not the coldest of air masses… but still plenty cold enough IF it is to be believed. The Canadian Model is showing something similar to the GFS but is really cranks up this storm as it moves north of here…

Friday Morning

It goes crazy with the low as it slides into Canada on Halloween taking the pressure all the way down to 952mb…

That would force some very cold air southward into much of the country for the weekend into the first week of November.

What do all these maps add up to? Stay tuned!

Have a good day and I will update later today. Take care.
