****EVENING UPDATE****
Good evening everyone. Showers and storms are really increasing across central and eastern Kentucky. The best chance for severe storms is across eastern Ky… especially in Northeastern areas. Damaging winds and large hail are the main players into the evening hours. These storms will have torrential rains that can cause flash flooding as well.
I will continue to follow the storms through the evening and update as needed. Take care.

Good Saturday everyone and thanks for blogging with me. Our weekend is not looking like many of us had hoped for as we have the threat for some strong and severe thunderstorms out there today into tonight.
The old weather blog will be on top of things through the weekend and will have as many updates as need be to keep you up to date on things.
Scattered storms will likely fire up early today then become more numerous later this afternoon into the evening hours as the cold front moves closer to us. It will be at this point we will see our greatest threat for some of the storms to go severe with damaging winds being the main player.
Here is everything you need to track today’s storms…

The above map shows the areas the Storm Prediction Center is monitoring for a possible severe weather watch. That is a good one to keep track of through the day.
I know a lot of you are wondering about how the weekend will end and it looks like it will include more storms. That will especially be true across the west and south with more scattered stuff in the north. Showers and storms may really ramp up again Sunday night and Monday. I am concerned about enough rain this weekend to cause some flooding problems as well.
I will fire up the live, interactive chat as needed today so check in for that. I will also be using twitter for some updates so sign up to follow me or check out the twitter feed in the top right hand corner of the blog.
Have a great day and take care.
Winds are really kicking up in Lexington, but seems like just as the rain gets here it disappears on the radar.
Renee, I know what you mean! Here at our home in Lexington, we only received just a few sprinkles out of that storm that went by yesterday – we had thunder, dark clouds, and maybe 10 raindrops! LOL!
The most often quoted phrase in our home is “it’s going to miss us!” How’s that for an optimistic attitude! LOL!
Since I only know enough about computers to make me dangerous, I am having a difficult time understanding the whole “Twitter” concept. I have signed up, but what exactly does that mean? I do not get notifications.
I guess we can forget about going swimming today and tomorrow, lol.
Whew! It’s hot in Hazard today. Some rain would feel good as long we don’t get bad storms.
Have a great weekend, everyone.
Wow…really….it rained at our house for about 25 minutes….steady rain.
Afternoon all! Char, it’s hot in Somerset, too! Last time we checked, it was 89. Humidity is high today, too.Radar looks lke the storme are splitting us at the present time, but I wonder how long that wil last?
Well, gotta get supper started….we are having fresh veggies out of the garden..corn, cukes, tomatoes, green beans w/new potatoes, and a pan of cornbread! YUM! YUM! 😀
It rained?! Really! We haven’t had a drop at my house, in the Gardenside area. Where are you located in Lexington? We once again have a huge black cloud over our head, but so far, no rain. Congratulations on seeing the wet stuff! Our flowers sure could use a drink.
Umm, as I review these radars… I am not comforted by the fact that the little red circle, the only one in the entire USA, is where I am located. :/
Yummy, Coffeelady! I want to come and eat supper with you. 🙂 hmmm.
Nothing better than fresh garden vegetables, especially with cornbread.
Now that’s what I call eating. 🙂
I’m happy for you, girl.
That was yesterday…it rained for about 15 minutes today around 6. Weird …we are close…I live off Clays Mill.
