Good Thursday everyone. The blog is likely to be a busy place today as the threat for severe thunderstorms and torrential rains will be with us. The storms are getting off to an early start as we have a TORNADO WATCH in effect for parts of western and central Kentucky until 6am. That means by the time many of you read this… it will no longer be in effect or a new watch has been issued farther east. If so… I will update.

Here is the watch outline…

One round of severe weather comes through early today then we wait for more storms to crank up later this afternoon into the evening. These rounds of storms can bring a whole lot of wind damage with them if they can really get their act together. The atmosphere today certainly gives them a good shot of doing just that… especially if we can get some sun this afternoon to increase the instability for the next round or rounds of storms.

Watch the heavy rain and flood threat as well. Many areas picked up 1″-3″ of rain from the Wednesday storms so it won’t take much at all to cause more flooding problems today.

The long range picture does not get much better as more storms will be with us this weekend into next week. Yep… these could be severe with more heavy rains.

I will update the blog as much as I can today… a guy has to sleep sometime! But if my track record is any indication… I will likely be tracking the storms and updating the blog to keep you safe.

I will also be using Twitter as well so sign up for free text messages to your cell phone. You can also see my updates in the top right hand corner of this blog.

Have a great day and keep checking back for updates. Take care.
