Good Thursday everyone. The wet weather beat continues and it is one that many of us are probably sick and tired of already. Wednesday featured more severe thunderstorms and heavy rains across the state. Today will see… drum roll please… more showers and thunderstorms!

We have a front that is SLOWLY working southward across the region right now and has a wave of low pressure along it that will keep the rains going today. Some of the showers and storms will produce heavy rainfall once again so we will have to watch for flash flooding in some areas. A FLASH FLOOD WATCH is in effect for northeastern Kentucky near the Ashland area

Radar time…

Overall… today is going to be a pretty ugly day for most areas. Temps are going to be well below normal today with several locales staying in the 60s for highs. As a matter of fact… when it rains temps may drop to the upper 50s. That will especially be the case in the north. Cool winds will be gusty as well adding an extra chill to the day.

I will say this, though. Areas in the south may see some sun that could boost thermometers into the 70s for a time today.

Friday will see improving weather across the area from west to east. A stray shower may hang tough early in the day the farther east you live. Clouds may also be a little stubborn in the east that would keep temps near 70ish while those that get the most sun see temps spike into the mid and upper 70s.

The weekend looks good! Highs will warm into the middle 80s for Saturday and into the upper 80s to near 90 perhaps by Sunday. Both days look dry!!!!!

That dry pattern won’t last long and neither will the heat. We go back into a stormy setup by later Monday into much of next week as another big push of cooler air heads south into the central and eastern US. This will knock our temps way down once again!! Get used to hearing that this summer!

Have a great Thursday and I will update as needed. Take care.
