Good Saturday evening everyone. A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH is out for most of central and eastern Kentucky until midnight. This blog has all your severe weather needs covered and I will be adding LIVE UPDATES BELOW RADARS. Here is the watch…

5PM: SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING FOR CARTER AND GREENUP COUNTIES UNTIL 6:30PM

5:16: SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING for Lewis county until 6pm

5:54: SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING for Menifee, Montgomery and Powell counties until 6:30pm.

6:32 SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING for Boyd, Carter, Greenup and Lawrence counties until 7:30pm

7:00 Watching areas of Indiana and Illinois as more storms form there. These will come together into a cluster (MCS) and slide southeastward into Kentucky late this evening into the overnight. Damaging winds will be a big time threat if this stuff gets organized!!

7:15 SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING for Lewis County until 8:15pm

7:45 SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING for Campbell county until 8:30pm

7:57 SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING for Boyd county until 8:45pm

8:55 Two tornadoes reported on the ground into southern Ohio. One is just across the River from Maysville in Mason county. The other was reported near the NWS office in Wilmington.

10PM Thunderstorms are rapidly increasing across Kentucky. The atmosphere is primed for super cell thunderstorms that can produce tornadoes. Twitter is having problems.

No rain in Richmond (Waco area) yet today. There was an ugly black/gray cloud that passed by about 45 minutes ago. The wind is blowing my neighbor’s UK flag really good out there, but the sun is still shining. I’m going to guess its only adding “fuel to the fire” so to speak. I’m hoping if Mother Nature does decide to do something she does it before it gets dark, I don’t “do” severe storms when I can’t see the clouds – especially after the tornado a few weeks ago. It was only a mile and a half from our home! My heart still goes out to those people that lost everything or had their lives turned upside down in the blink of an eye!

Things have been sunny here in southern KY. Will this part of the state stay out of the watch area, or could we be in it later tonight. Just trying to get a feel if we should keep an eye on the weather in this part of the state.

Hey CB…I’m currently in Maysville. A tornadic supercell just passed by us to the North. It was spectacular to watch from about 20 miles or so away! It will threaten the Greater Huntington area if it holds together.

Waiting to see if these cells will eventually sag south of the river or
just train over SW Ohio…

Just had a storm blow through Winchester that popped up out of no where. Ton of lightning and heavy rain. Also had some pea size hail that came down after it stopped raining…found that kind of wierd.

I’m not sure which NWS office covers the area where that line is but I’m seeing multiple cells in that line putting down 1.00″ hail size according to doppler. That is severe T’storm warning criteria… someone is asleep at the wheel.

That is an estimate from the doppler. There have been no reports of 1.00 inch hail with this activity. And believe me…no one is asleep at the wheel.

Whoa- Lexington must really be getting hammered right now- just the low booming sound of thunder woke me here in Wilmore! The flashes are lighting us up a bit here and it is still quite North of us!
