Good Tuesday everyone. I hope all of you had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. It’s back to work and school for most people on this day… a day that will feature more in the way of storm tracking!
We had a lot of storms develop across the area Monday… and with a very moist atmosphere combining with slow moving winds aloft… those storms put down a whole lot of rain in some areas. That same thing is likely to happen out there this afternoon and probably Wednesday afternoon as well.
These storms can put down a quick inch or two of rain in less than an hour! That will be more than enough to cause some flash flooding problems once again so please keep up to date on where these storms are. Pinpointing where they will form is impossible so it will be a day of watching the radar. Did someone say radar?
As I mentioned… Wednesday will see more of the same with a few showers and storms trying to linger into Thursday. How about the rest of the extended? Here ya go…
1. The weekend will start off with a weak disturbance swinging through the area on Friday. This will likely touch off some scattered thunderstorms once again. ![]()
2. The weekend itself looks better as drier air moves in for Saturday with temps in the pleasant 70s.
3. Warm and humid air begins to slowly work back in by Sunday and Monday with temps heading back toward the 80s again.
4. I just don’t see this periodic stormy pattern ending anytime soon as it will likely last into June.
5. Wondering about the Summer ahead? I will have some forecasts for you before the week is over. ![]()
I will update as needed today so check back. You can also follow me on Twitter, both here on the blog and the regular Twitter. You can also sign up to have FREE text messages (tweets) from me. Have a great Tuesday and take care.

Everybody feel free to send your unwanted rain to me. My yard has missed out on everything in the past 12 days. I was in Paris yesterday and it was pouring but my road was completely dry when I got home. 🙁 The rain gauge had a whopping 1/10 of an inch. I heard parts of Lexington got over an inch on Monday. I need that so please direct it to eastern Bourbon County. Thank!! 🙂
Thanks for the update, Chris! WE missed most of the rain over the weekend, but finally managed to get a pretty good t-shower last night about 10-10:30. IT cooled off the house pretty good, as long as it lasted.
KP, I know you need the rain more than we do here, as we have had quite a bit of late. I would wager that you will get some before the week is out.
Chris, do you see Sunday as a pretty ice day, too? Got a bed to go pick up for the soon-to-be newlyweds, and I really do not want it to get rained on.
Had a great Memorial Day! We cooked ribs on the grill, and since our heat pump is on the fritz, we cooked the rolls on the grill, too! Sounds crazy, but they were really very good! (The ribs were, too! 😀 )
Well, back to work today. Hope everyone has a great Tuesday/Monday. Thanks again Chris, for all that you do!
Waiting on enough rain to make a stream mine is dry
new mesonet site in grayson county with another coming in mercer county!
VERY bad storm here…lots of lightning & thunder & raining so hard i cant see out my window…vivid lightning & the wind is awful!
standing water in roads and creeks rising here. FLASH FLOODING
send me some rain
Got some very bright lightning here in Winchester, but no rain yet in the downtown area.
Very pleased about Saturday. 🙂
not seeing any rain here yet but it really feels like rain, very muggy. in a few weeks when it gets truly hot if we still have this humidity its going to make for a hazy hot humid pattern.
