Good Thursday everyone. All eyes are on the unofficial kickoff to Summer that is the Memorial Day holiday weekend that is just about here. It’s a busy travel weekend and one that features a ton of outdoor ceremonies, cookouts and parades so the forecast takes on a little more importance than normal.
We have had one heck of a nice weather streak since Sunday. Wednesday was nothing short of wonderful with temps in the lower 80s under a blue sky filled with sunshine. We are going to keep the warm temps and sunshine out there today with highs going a few degrees warmer into the middle 80s. You will notice a touch more humidity creeping into the weather picture as well.
That humidity will be surging northward from the Gulf of Mexico where a storm is going to do it’s best to become tropical in the coming days. It is going to get downright muggy around here by Friday and that will last through the weekend into early next week. The tropical feel to the air will produce scattered showers and thunderstorms and the first chance will come in later Friday. The NAM shows this possibility…
These will be the afternoon and evening type stuff that will go up with a lot of areas staying dry into late in the weekend or early next week.
It is once we get into the start of the new week we will be seeing a greater risk of showers and storms that may produce some heavy rains. This happens as whatever forms in the gulf rolls northward into the Ohio Valley. You can see that very well on the European model…
That will be something for us to watch in the coming days and that is indeed what the blog will be doing! ![]()
Go out and enjoy another awesome weather day… that’s an order from your friendly weather dude! hahaha. Take care.

Morning, Chris. I can’t believe that nonone else has commented as of yet…but I am sure that by the time I hit ‘post’ someone will have beat me to the punch!
You are indeed correct about the beautiful day we had yesterday! And today looks to be a carbon copy! I am loving it. I also do nto wantit to get too dry, so a few scattered popcorn showers and t-showers won’t hurt anything!
Thanks for the update, Chris. I am watching that thing in the gulf, too. But my sisters in Florida were glad to see some rain. It really helped with the fire situation.
Have a GREAT Thursday, all. And please be careful if you are travelling this weekend!
Thanks weather dude…. you have yourself a wonderful day!
Here’s hoping the thunderstorms aren’t too bad this weekend, it’s a big race weekend in Clay City at the dragstrip.
Thanks Chris! It’s another gorgeous day! Too bad work gets in the way of making it perfect! LOL! I hope we can dodge some of these storms this weekend here in the central part of the state like we did last weekend!
Heading out in a few to the Guyandotte River to pull an all nighter targeting Trophy Flatheads. Beautiful day and hopefully a beautiful night!!!
The sky looks more like a UNC Tarheel Blue… 😉 I believe he’s a Tarheel fan! 🙂
Thanks Chris. Hope those thunderstorms don’t turn nasty.
intresting today in cincy late thursday pm the temp was a steady 91* on my car therometer only low 80’s measured in cent ky same thermo.this all thanks to soil moisture content. mesonet a good 3-5* warmer in the suburbs of cincy as well than lex.
I watch for every week-end now that wedding season is upon us. Got a big wedding tomorrow so I hope those scattered showers hold off until around 10 or 11 tomorrow night. Friday night weddings are unusual but they wanted the long week-end for a honeymoom. At the rehearsal tonight they were most nervous about the “kiss”. I’m most nervous about the “weather”.
