Good afternoon everyone. It has been a long couple of days for your friendly weather dude but what I am going though is NOTHING compared to what thousands of people across eastern and southern Kentucky have had to endure. Devastating flooding has been ongoing since Friday evening across many counties. Hundreds are homeless… roads remain underwater with some roads being swept away… businesses flooded… several homes washed away.
Having grown up in Magoffin County, I have witnessed many times what a powerful force mother nature can be when it comes to flooding. I am seeing that firsthand today as several of my family members have been battling the flooding since last night. What I am seeing here is what thousands of others are seeing after a night of 3″-6″ of rainfall.
Here are a few pics I snapped from earlier today of the flooding…

If you have any pics be sure to email them to me at chrisbaileyweather@yahoo.com and I will try my best to get them on the blog. I will be doing live flood coverage from my hometown on MyZ TV at 6 and on WSAZ TV at 7 for those who get those channels.
I will have another update coming up later this evening. Take care.

Thanks Chris for all you do. Our prayers go out to those affected by the floods and storms.
I hope your family is safe and okay, and all the people affected by these awful rains. Johnson County still has water over the road at Davis Branch, and I think parts of Floyd were flooded. Also heard that Pike county was hit hard.
thoughts and prayers out to those affected by the floods. congrats to any other graduates like myself today and a happy mothers day to all as well.
Happy Mothers Day. I’m not a “real” mom but I have 2 step-children and 3 grandchildren. I’m very lucky to still have my Mom. She’s 82. This is a bitter sweet day becaus several of my friends lost their homes to the tornado that went through Madison Conny.
Hello, guy! I am completely agree with this way of assumption and everything joined.
