Good Wednesday folks. The weather of the past few days has been ugly to say the least. Some areas have even been picking up a touch of sleet to go along with the showers. Well, if this weather is not to your liking… hang on as Summer in April is coming!
Before we get into the weather outlook… you will notice a new edition to the blog over here >>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Twitter seems to be all the rage these days so the blog is tweeting too. You can sign up to receive regular updates or you can just get them in the little twitter box to the right. That is going to come in handy during severe weather or if you just want to stalk me! ![]()
Today will be another day of clouds and suns doing battle. The gusty winds will be sticking around as will the occasional shower. Later in the afternoon… a stray thunderstorm may try to develop over the north and east. These could put down some small hail if they go up. For the last time this week… you can track the rains on the radar…
Highs today will range from the 50s in the east to near 60 in the west and south where we will notice a bit more in the way of sun. The Great Lakes low will finally begin moving out tonight and will take the clouds with it. The clearing will allow temps to make a run into the mid and upper 30s giving us the threat for some patchy frost. After that chilly start… let the games begin!
A warm front will swing northward across the region Thursday leading to a big time warmup. Highs will roll into the 70s across central and western Kentucky and push 70 in the east. Winds will become southwesterly and we will likely see a few clouds along the nose of the warmer air.
The 80s are coming! Friday will be the beginning of what should be a nice run of 80+ degree high temps around here. The pattern is a VERY warm one for a lot of folks with the plains states pushing toward 90. Here is the NAM Friday afternoon high temp map…
Saturday and Sunday will see temps make a run into the middle 80s. Record highs are in the upper 80s so we may, at least, be in the ballpark. Those 80s may hang tough into the first part of next week. This will be the warmest stretch of April temps since 2002 so it has been a while since we have had these kinds of temps on a routine basis.
Moral of the story… it’s time to break out the flip flops and shorts! ![]()
Have a great Wednesday and keep thinking about how nice the weather is going to be in just a few short days!
Take care.

We had snow flurries here in Gtown last night. Our lovely Youth Baseball association didn’t cancel games and our 9-10 year old team didn’t finish until 10:45 last night on a school night. We had kids on the field crying they were so cold and drenched from the mess falling from the sky.
Song of the day in Honor of the coming 80’s and sunny weather… “Hold On” By Wilson Phillips.
Time to pack away the sweaters and dig out the shorts!! I wish we could have a few weeks of in between weather, but Mother Nature never asks for input from me. 🙂
Frost on the windshield this morning. Had to use defrost, which uses more fuel, which is bad on Earth Day. 🙁
Morning all. We have bright sunshine here in Somerset this morning! Temps are not too bad. Lower 50s, so that is a plus. At this point, the wind is very light, too.
Chris, I am really looking forward to warmer weather! Apparently, your radar is, too. It will not load for me this morning to keep an eye on showers, so I guess it is taking a few days off from the weather we have had, too! 😉
In any event, everyone have a GREAT day. Warmer weather is on the way! YAY!!! And KP, I am like you. A true spring WOULD be nice, but I was not awsked for imput, either. 😀
In the tune of “Who could ask for anything more.”
I love summer….I love summer…I love summer, who could ask for anything more!?”
Chris………..I read this on the NWS.
22 April 2005 → A small cousin of the tornado, called a “gustnado”, was spotted in downtown Louisville. Over a span of a few blocks it caused damage typical of 70mph winds.
What the heck is a gustnado and what qualifies it as such?
Stayed just warm enough today to keep from having a frost it was 36 here the show is finally on the other foot this tiem 😉
Chris says he’s going to get a haircut. What hair? 🙂
Chris, we have had the most beautiful day here. Full sunshine since early this morning, and the temp is 66 degrees! The winds are a bit gusty, but not too bad overall. IF this is a preview for the rest of the week, all I can say is WOW!!!!
by the way, I am with Wxman…which hair did you get cut? They all look pretty short to me! 😉
Hey watch it that’s our sexy little weatherdude…… JUST KIDDING WXman but not about the sexy little weatherdude LOL
