Good Friday to one and all. It is no ordinary day or weekend as it is time for the largest gathering of hillbilly folk these United States have to offer. Well… outside of a University of Tennessee football game. I kid because I care!! Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to hillbilly heaven…

Pikeville Kentucky is home to the 2nd largest festival in the state of Kentucky… Hillbilly Days! Today and Saturday will easily see more than 100,000 people filter through the eastern Kentucky city. Here is the info on what HD is all about…

Come enjoy the festivities and craziness of Hillbilly Days and bring the family! There is something for everyone with hundreds of food and craft booths, a huge carnival, and music throughout the town. Y’all will be assured of having three days of outrageous fun, food, and frolic.

Hillbilly Days offers loads of fun for all participants, but there is true meaning behind the event. For 33 years, Shriners have faithfully traveled all over the United States and Canada to help crippled children. So, when you come upon Shriners all decked out in Hillbilly garb or driving one of those modified Hillbilly limousines, remember the children whose lives are being enhanced.

Hillbilly days improves each year as Shriners, the Pike County Chamber of Commerce, Pike County Government, City of Pikeville and local volunteers transform downtown Pikeville into one of the most unique festivals in the world!

Weather headlines…

1. Today and Saturday look good with temps in the 70s both days.

2. A stout low pressure moves in later Sunday into Monday with showers and thunderstorms increasing Sunday and hanging tough into Monday.

3. We will see a shot of chilly air moving in by Tuesday and this will take us into Wednesday as showers move away. If we can clear the skies out… some frost would be possible.

4. A RAPID warmup is likely by the end of next week as TRUE spring begins to take shape.

5. It is going to get pretty darn warm before April is over, folks!

That’s all I have for you today… I have to get my wardrobe ready for today. I have narrowed it down to three…

Decisions, decisions!

Oh by the way… don’t take offense to me having some hillbilly fun… after all, I am a good old eastern Kentucky boy! Have a great day and getrdone!
