Good Thursday folks and welcome to spring… again! 
After coming out of yet another ugly few days of weather… mother nature is ready to give us a string of spring at it’s finest around here. It’s temporary so enjoy it folks!!
Before we look ahead… I want to say a few words about the overall pattern of late. The call made here back in February was for a false start to spring during March. It was a warm month and was actually warmer than I thought it would be. But, the chill through the first half of April has been impressive so I feel good about March being a false start to spring. The blog is also on record calling for a warm period later this month that will likely last into May. My thoughts on May are actually similar to my spring thoughts as I think we may see a false signal for the summer ahead. By that I mean we are likely to see a period of “hot” weather in May, but I don’t think that will be indicative of how the summer ahead goes. I guess we will see and I will be sharing more thoughts on May and the summer ahead in the coming weeks.
Let’s get back to where the weather is now…
Highs today will reach the 60s under increasing amounts of sunshine. Friday and Saturday will be even better with temps hitting the 70s. Some clouds will increase Saturday with a small shot at a late day shower or storm. The main action will come Sunday into Monday as a stout area of low pressure winds up across the Ohio Valley. We will need to watch this for the chance for some strong storms Sunday. This low will be driven by a decent cold air push into the eastern half of the country. Here is the European model…

That is some very chilly air for late April and could easily give us a day in the 40s for highs on Tuesday. Showers will likely be with us all the way into early Wednesday.
The good news is that the pattern is ready to flip into a warm one and will likely do so pretty quickly by the end of next week. This time is should have some staying power!! The pattern I am seeing can easily produce several 80 degree days before the month is over. Am I rushing the warmth in here too early? Perhaps and only time will tell.

Bring on the 80’s with lots of sunshine!

YES it is being VERY stubborn. Crazy stubborn. I hate it. Look at visible satellite…it’s only hanging on over KY! Moving due west…meanwhile high clouds coming in due east! AHH!! It’s time for sunshine.
Thank Goodness! It is 11:30 and the sun is shining in my area! It’s about time I was reallyg getting depressed. I thought I was back into winter!
When is the sun coming out? It has been cloudy all day! I want sunny days.
The forecast high temps. for today are taking a serious beating! This cloud patch just won’t burn off.
These clouds just won’t budge. Temp actually dropped a degree.
I will certainly ejoy the nice weather…..if it ever gets here! WE still have clouds and 55 degrees here in Somerset at this time. To be honest, though, they are getting thinner, as it is getting brighter outside. Hopefully, it will not be long until we see sunshine here! 😀
As far as the cold early next week, I REALLY didn’t want to hear that! 😉 Oh well, we take what we get and go on, I guess.
