Good afternoon everyone! A TORNADO WATCH is now out for parts of western and central Kentucky until 9pm. The watch is just to the west of I-75. Here is a county breakdown of the watch…
Here is a look at the warnings…
Radar is showing the thunderstorms blowing up…
Tornadoes, large hail and damaging thunderstorm winds are possible for areas in and close to the watch area. The blog will continue to watch the storms and have updates as needed. I will also be leaving updates in the comments section. Take care.

Thanks Chris. Just passed that on to my daughter, who lives in Adair County.
I know you will keep us informed. Thanks again.
how r the storms moving? It’s weird I came 2 mt sterling Friday and 2day. Hadn’t 4ever and both days tornado watches! Maybe I should stay away from here!! LOL
Think Lexington will be in that threat soon?
Looks like it will be another hour or two before LEX is affected. Any of these storms will drop large hail…keep that in mind! Even if there is no warning, you may still see hail.
Renee, like Chris said, in and around the watch area. I’m in Nicholasville, but I think we will officially be in a watch soon!
The storm, by Bowling Green is looking nasty! Sun is really starting to peek out here.
I agree with you. The sun is really starting to heat up. We may see severe weather….stay safe!
The storms seem to be moving together too. Early it seemed to be pockets here and there.
Thanks WXman!
YOU too just keep it tuned here lol 🙂
It’s really getting warm here between Morehead and Salt Lick. Temp is 71* and pretty sunny
third time is a charm…Have tried to post twice, and keep getting sent to moderation heaven! 😉
Thanks, Chris, for the update, and to you Wxman, for all the info you give us, too. Sun is out here in near full force. Partly cloudy skies, and the temp is rising. The line seems to be pretty solid all the way down into Tennessee. Hopefully after they are through, that will be the end of the severe stuff!

bow echo with very gusty winds moving through frankfort
TORNADO WARNING FOR GRANT, OWEN AND GALLATIN COUNTIES UNTIL 6PM
I believe a Tornado Warning needs to be put out for that storm in anderson co.. Radar returns are indicitive of a twisting. Take a look at the storm velocity returns as well.
***Sorry thats more towards Frankfort when I look at it again***
we are still getting sunshine here in Bath CO
Is there any possibility of storms firing ahead of the line because of sunshine or is the line the main threat?
Tornado siren just went off here in Gtown. I think 1 sounding is a severe warning, continuous is tornado.
That storm in Grant County is still showing signs of broad rotation.
I believe the line is going to be the main threat tonight, if storms we’re going to fire ahead of it I think we would’ve seen it by this point.
It’s a severe thunderstorm warning which includes parts of Woodford, northern Fayette, Scott, and eastern Franklin.

Thanks for the information!
Is the line weakening now? It appears to be.
At least the southern part of the line in Ky appears to be.
Stout wind and rain in NW Fayette. Some lightening.
This line of storms should weaken out pretty quickly over the next hour or so. The strongest storms will be across northern Kentucky.
Bad part of storm just moved through my area in Frankfort. we had very gusty winds and pea sized hail. Lots of rain, thunder, and lightning. Just hearing thunder in distance now.
Thanks much Chris!!
Is the other line that is currently in Illinois and heading into western KY going to fire up and have some storms also or will that line just be rain when it gets here?
Keep them there we need no rain in Southern KY for about a week
some really heavy rain swept through here a hour or so ago 0.27 inches in 22 minutes, thats about 3/4” per hour rain rate and it was really coming down, big cool raindrops, no hail though. wind got to kicking but has subsided, sky looks ominous again but radar isn’t too intimidating.
btw, anyone watch harangs 3 hit 9 inning shut out yesterday? if the reds could get that kind of pitching consistently what a team they’d be
I’ve wanted to write resembling like this text on my blog and this gave me excellent thought. Thanks!
