Good Saturday everyone. The next few days will be MUCH better than our Good Friday which featured widespread severe weather across the state.
Check out this amateur video of a funnel cloud and possible tornado in Pulaski County. This is from the Osterloh family…
That is some wild stuff there folks!!!
1. Today will see clouds quickly move out with skies becoming mainly sunny. This will boost temps to near 60 by later this afternoon. Winds will be rather gusty.
2. FROST AND FREEZING CONDITIONS possible Sunday morning! Temps will head toward 32 or below in many areas. You know the drill by now.
3. The rest of our Easter Sunday looks good… but cool. Sunny skies will be noted and this will warm temps into the 50s. It should be another breezy day.
4. Low pressure moves in for Monday and Tuesday with rain and a few thunderstorms with us yet again. This could be ANOTHER nice rain maker around here.
5. Temps Tuesday and Wednesday will be on the cool side… again!
6. The end of next week looks like it wants to bring some much milder temps back in here with 70s a possibility.
7. The active and cooler than normal pattern is beginning to show signs of breaking down. The problem is it won’t really end until we get closer to the end of the month. Once it breaks… I think we get pretty darn warm around here!
Have a great Saturday and I will have another update later tonight. Take care.
Definitely a funnel cloud there. Tornado? Probably not in that shot, but if it had’ve grown to be a tornado it would have been a large one. Precariously close to a monster…
Nice video!
I thought it very interesting how there seem to be 3 little dips and then when it combined it really did look like a tornado forming. Great video to study. My poor ferns have been covered and uncovered so many times that they don’t really know they are ferns. I guess tonight they will be covered again. This is the last time that I buy plants before Derby!
wow Chris! What a shot! There is also one taken by a teacher at Eubank Elementary that clearly shows a funnel cloud ot her classroom window.
Sharon, I am with you. I didn’t buy ferns, but my azeleas are trying to bloom, and my day lilies are coming up nicely. They look like they are going to have lots of color, so I really don’t want them to ge frostbitten!
Thanks Chris, for all the hard work yesterday, as everyday, as you take care of your REAL job, and all of the extra work you pit in on here for us. It is appreciated.
So, are we at least gling to see warmer temps with our rains after next weekend, I hope? I can deal with the rain if the temps just don’t go plunging every time it does.
Gonna get out and enjoy the weekend, before the rain heads back into the picture. Everyone enjoy, and have a most BLESSED Easter!
Got moderated….so I will try this…
Thanks Chris for the hard work.
Eubank teacher also got shots out her classroom window.
Have a BLESSED Easter, all. Enjoy the weekend. chat at you guys later.
yesterday was something to see.
GENERAL QUARTERS my BLUEGRASS play.
I’m glad yesteday is OVER!!. Those kind of days I’d rather do without, severe wise…NOW we have ole dreary, drizzly,COLD conditions this morning..my morning walk was quite miserable to say the least…I’m really looking forward to this miserable pattern to BREAK..with sunshine and 70’s and 80’s!!! Not to mention if we get to many more heavy rain events to close together down here, were gonna be talking River flooding big time…take care all and have a WONDERFUL EASTER, no matter what the weather dishes out…:)
I’m with you Tim with the warmer temps. That would be ideal! It’s bright and sunny here in Versailles, but a bit breezy.
Thanks for sending the video Osterloh family! It was phenomanal!!
frost adv east tonight and frz.warning north. i think lmk is banking to much on the mixing layer. farmers in the bluegrass will not be ready tonight thanks to lmk’s overconfidence for no frost. hopefully they check this blog instead, cover everything up there will be frost tonight.
Sharon,
When I was growing up, we always had the biggest, prettiest, healthiest garden around. Enough to feed the whole county…lol! The reason was because my Grandpa NEVER planted ANYTHING (veggies, flowers, etc) until the weekend AFTER Derby Day. He always claimed there was less of a chance of frost/freeze after that date. A couple years ago, I put out some green pepper plants the week before Derby (they were on sale and looked mighty healthy, etc)…well, they definitely GREW…just the PLANTS,that is!?…They got to be tall as me (5′-3″)or taller, they looked wonderful, and I was imagining all these HUMONGOUS peppers. Yea, right. The biggest pepper I got all season off 6 plants was the size of a golf ball, and it had started to turn yellow & red and hard as a rock…my tomato plants were big, bushy, but about as sorry as the peppers. I got one yellow squash long as my hand and a cucumber that had dried-up seeds in it (neither were worth eating, so bitter) This year I am going to wait until nearly the end of May like I did before before I buy/plant ANYTHING. (And..I never had any luck outta ferns..I once bought 2 beautiful “Rabbit’s Foot” and “Asparagus” ferns to keep indoors..lol..they were dead as a doornail within a week!?)
Thanks for the Comment on our pics we sent in from Madison County, we both work for the City of Richmond, and are Firefighters here the fire station to the north of us was out on a fire run a house fire when all of this hit thats why we were out in it.. stay safe guys i see the Storm Prediction Center Has weatern and part of central ky in a slight risk for Severe Weather for monday!!!! http://www.crh.noaa.gov/lmk/?n=severeweatheroutlook
Well….I’m going to go with Grandpa from now on and wait and be patient. I’ll let you know if these ferns survive my covering and uncovering and covering and uncovering.
That was a great video! Last night I watched TG and he had some pix on there that reminded me a lot of the April 3, ’74 tornado that I watched tear thru Nelson Co. (which also killed my cousin’s mom in-law)I’ve seen clouds like that before, and never really paid attention to them that much. From now on, I will!
has shane stopped posting on his blog????
