Good Thursday everyone.We are FINALLY going to be seeing a good looking day out there across Kentucky. Partly sunny skies will boost temps today into the 60s. That’s the good news. The bad news is it won’t be sticking around very long. 
A plains low pressure will be developing today and riding northeastward toward the region later tonight into Friday. Southwesterly winds out ahead of this low will boost those temps up today. Clouds will begin to increase during the afternoon and some showers and thunderstorms will be developing from west to east late this afternoon into this evening.
By Friday… that low will be sitting right on top of us with widespread showers and thunderstorms.

If we can get some breaks in the clouds to allow more instability to develop… a few strong storms will be possible. Here is the latest outlook from the Storm Prediction Center…
As far as the Eastern weekend weather is concerned… Saturday will be a cool one with morning showers giving way to afternoon sunshine. It should be a breezy day as well with highs in the low and mid 50s.
Easter Sunday continues to look pleasant with morning lows in the 30s and afternoon highs making a run toward 60 with partly sunny skies.
The next low works in early next week with more wet weather. It will likely turn much cooler during this time as well.
I am doing a little summer research right now and will have a summer forecast out in May. Based on what I am seeing right now… it doesn’t look like a super hot summer by any means. We shall see.

Since the Redbud’s are in full bloom here, I believe we just went through Redbud Winter!Next is Dogwood Winter. I wish it would settle down on the raining, so we can get our garden started! It’s been either too wet or too cold to do anything. Of course, once we get everything planted it will dry up and then I will be begging for rain. lol
I believe redbud winter is coming up Dogwood winter must have passed us by as there are no dogwoods in bloom at least in my area but there are redbuds in bloom and next frost should take care of that if this one doesn’t

As far as Easter weekend goes, I guess that its really a pretty good forecast overall, considering the pattern we are in.

Thanks for the heads up on that one Wxman! Don’t like it, but its nice to know in advance that there is that possibility! And my daughter is off tomorrow, so she will be home tonight, which makes me happy if that kind of stuff is a good probability.
s for tommorow i see a thick overcast which would mean no severe weather but we shall see. and for the summer more spring rain= cooler summer.
Yeah, in fact, my bud and I think that SPC will put a Moderate Risk zone on the map later today to cover tomorrow…how far north they take that Moderate Risk is the question. Will KY be in it? Guess we’ll see at 17:30Z.
Just a quick note to my weather family.
I want you to pray for my mother Lorraine Johnson Stiltner.She is at Pikeville Hospital.She has had a massive heart attack and in Resp distress.It does not look good at all.The DRS are not giving her long but we all know they dont know it all.God does and I pray if its his will to please heal her.I love her dearly and I would be forever empty without her.There is no better friend then your mother tell her that today.I have been there for 2 days and I am heading back my sister is in from Indy relieving me a little.The sunshine is beautiful Chris I will open moms shades ao she can enjoy it too.

Might be terrific in Central & Eastern KY but is going downhill fast here in Western Ky.
Yesterday was a much nicer day down here in Western Ky.
I have not recorded a below freezing temp this month here. Amazing the difference in climate between here and Central/Eastern KY.
I also noticed where Jackson had almost 30 inches of snow! Seasonal total here…2 inches!
guess we trade days although the sun was nice it was a tick on the cool side especially with the wind but we will get our rain and storms tomorrow gonna try to get the lawn cut this afternoon/evening
Wow, it’s a beautiful day here in Hazard. Too bad I have to be inside working today. 🙂 Shoot, more rain and cooler temps. I am soooooooo ready for summer. I’ll keep coming here tonight and tomorrow to keep an eye out for severe weather.
