Good Wednesday everyone! I know a lot of folks are wanting to get this nasty January weather out of here and we are going to do just that. The problem is we are going to replace it with March weather. ![]()
Today will feature some sunshine with no real complaints. Temps will still be well below normal with low to mid 50s. Winds will make it feel even colder than that though. By later this afternoon… clouds will be on the increase as a fast moving, weak system dives across the state. With the freezing level so close to the ground… some small hail producing showers and thunderstorms will be possible late afternoon into the evening.
That will be a quick mover with clearing skies overnight. Another plains low will be taking shape on Thursday and send some clouds our way by afternoon. Temps will warm toward the lower 60s before some scattered showers and storms move in late in the day or into the evening hours and will really ramp up by Friday.
That is because the low will be moving over us bringing more rain and thunderstorms to go along with windy conditions…
GFS Friday Afternoon
If there is any good news about our Good Friday, it is that we will see temps near 60. As the low goes by early Saturday… showers will slowly move to our east with clearing from west to east. Temps will run on the chilly side again with low to mid 50s in what will be another windy day.
Easter Sunday continues to look pretty good when compared to the rest of the forecast period. We will see some sunshine, but temps will be below normal once again. We will start the day in the 30s and finish it with temps TRYING to get close to 60.
GFS Easter Sunday
That low you see down in Texas swings in here early next week and SLOWLY moves eastward bringing more rains and another chill down. ![]()
Seriously… if you are looking for an extended period of nice spring weather… your friendly weather dude cannot find it through next week.
The rest of April does not look that promising either.
I will update our evening shower and storm threat a little later. Have a great Wednesday and take care.

27 Frosty degrees this morning on the front porch
Forget Spring! I am ready for summer already Chris. Maybe we should move south.
Gosh…looks like the weekend AFTER Easter before we might see 70s again. 🙁
yep..27* frosty degrees across the river at my house as well Andy..
…………..
Chris …your just full of BAD news with this weather update now arent you?..lol..YUCK!
……………
well I guess at least today the sun will be shining and it WONT BE IN THE miserable 30’s…
BUT, it didn’t get cold enough to kill the plants/trees this morning, and Michael Porter is gone, so it’s a great day in Kentucky. 🙂 It’s all forward from here…
Well, Chris, we should have a BUNCH of pretty flowers in May, if April showers bring ’em! 😉
Just getting a little sunshine, and even mid to upper 50s beats what we have had the past two days!
For whatever reason, we always have either cold temps or rainy weather on Easter. But when its gone, then we usually get some very nice weather. SO we will just have to hang on until then, I guess.
Thanks for the update, Chris. Be looking forward to the next one. by the way, we hit 33 this morning, and no frost. Had alittle bit of cloud cover. I think that helped a LOT! (I know it helped my plants! 😉
I think the severe wx threat for Monday is increasing significantly.
im ready for more 70 degree temps. this cold stuff i was tired of the first week of march.
read the post where jkl got like the 5th most snow on record. while it did snow here in clay county this winter, and it was more snow then we have had in a few years, it WAS NOT in the top 10 snows for clay county. maybe for wherever the jkl office is, but not here.
i hope to get to put my tomatoes out sometimes this weekend. 🙂 maybe ill get a tomatoe before the frost sets in this year. i was just starting to get my tomatoes last year when we were getting our first frost.
i know this is your favorite type of weather wxman, but i sure hope not. ive already saw my share of severe weather for this year. i still got to fix my 2 meter ground plane back for the aprs station due to feb’s severe weather.
Jackson

sorry, i should of made my point clearer. i knew their office was in jackson, but i didnt know if they were on a mountain top or in a valley. that will effect the amount of snow also.
