Good Tuesday to one and all and thanks for stopping by the blog. Winter has moved back in across the state and I would imagine there aren’t very many people liking this kind of weather in April! We can call it THE BIG CHILL! The name is so popular that a movie was even made about it. Here is your proof…
Of course it was made back in the 1980s and I have no clue what it was about, but I don’t think cold weather played a leading role in it! ![]()
Snow showers have been common across much of the region since Monday evening. These will be on and off out there today… especially this morning. You can track them on radar…
Areas across southern and southeastern Kentucky have the best shot of picking up a slushy accumulation on the grass and elevated surfaces. The highest elevations of southeastern Kentucky will likely pick up a couple of inches. Ironically… parts of Tennessee may pick up more snow than areas of the bluegrass state! Hey… they can have it!!!!
With temps below freezing early today… watch for some slick spots on bridges and overpasses.
Speaking of the temps… with temps in the upper 20s to around 30… a freeze is likely early today then again Wednesday morning. Again… take care of those plants! ![]()
Current Temps
Low Temps
How about the rest of the week? Thanks for asking. The headlines break it down for you…
1. Wednesday will see improving weather as temps fight toward the 50s. A fast moving system will dive in from the northwest bringing showers to us late Wednesday evening.
2. Thursday looks like a pretty good day with partly sunny skies and temps climbing into the lower 60s.
3. Low pressure moves in Thursday night through Friday and will bring showers and storms to us. Locally heavy rains will be possible during this time as well.
4. The storm moves out Saturday taking the clouds and showers with it. Temps will likely be a few degrees colder as well.
5. Eastern Sunday continues to look pretty good as well. Temps will still be below normal for this time of year with upper 50s to around 60 for highs. The sun will be around.
6. Yet another storm will roll in for Monday and Tuesday with… you guessed it… more showers and thunderstorms!
That’s all I have for you fellow weather weenies today. Help us out by reporting any snow that you may get in your hometown. Have a great Tuesday and take care.

No snow here in Woodford. I do wish we’d get a little just to insulate the blooms and young plants from freezing.
Nothing here at Raccoon, 5 miles or so out of Pikeville.
Just a tiny bit of snowflakes on the cars this morning. 35 here (SW Franklin Co)
No snow here, although yesterday when I was feeding it was spitting tiny bits if ice at me. Didn’t stick. About 3 miles southeast of Mt Sterling.
“Eastern” Sunday? I guess that’s if you’re Eastern Orthodox? I couldn’t resist…
CB, that is a terrific movie, if you get the chance you should see it. Bit of trivia: The Big Chill was Kevin Costner’s first movie, yet you never see his face in it…why? He was the dead guy you see the mortician’s dressing in the beginning.
My niece’s husband said he encountered quite a bit of snow right outside of Lexington on his way to school.
Big snowflakes falling in Menifee County…a little of it is sticking to rooftops and wooden surfaces. It’s about 32 degrees.
Jeep was about half-covered in snow in Lawrenceburg this morning…this is nuts. Did you see the write-up on the thundersnow going on near Louisville?
Got a soggy skiff of snow on the grass here in beautiful downtown Winchester this morning. Roads are just wet.
morning, gang! Woke up to 34 and a little bit of snow on the rooftops, and on the deck railing. Saw a few cars on the way to work with a little on them, but nothing much, thank goodness!
Chris, I am looking forward to tomorrow, just because we are going to see some sunshine! I like warmer temps, but I can deal with 50s if I have some sunshine to go along with them!
OK, question to anyone who can help….I know to cover up my daylilies tonight, but I have azelea bushes, and a boxwood tree/bush in the front flower garden. No blooms or buds on either. Do I need to cover them as well? (trying to figure out how many sheets I am gonna need. 😉 ) Thanks in advance!

Did you hear anything on that wreck just past the school this morning ?
yeah, a 21 yr. old hit a garbage truck head on. Unfortunately the young man was killed.. they had the road closed until about 9:30 this morning. The Artemus fire dept. had to use the jaws of life to cut him out…my thoughts and prayers goes out to that family for sure…
Wow!, this was a real quality post. In theory I’d like to write like this too – taking time and real effort to make a good article… but what can I say… I keep putting it off and never seem to get something done.
