Good evening folks. Just dropping by for a quick update on the return of winter! This has been one nasty Monday with temps in the upper 30s to low 40s with rain showers around. Some sleet and snow has been mixing in and the transition to snow will continue this evening and overnight.
Temps will be a BIG problem tonight with many areas dipping into the upper 20s to near 30. That means we say hello to this guy…

A FREEZE WARNING is out for all of central and eastern Kentucky tonight so take all precautions to protect the tender plants. A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY is also out for the Virginia border counties in southeastern Ky. That is the part of the state that can pick up a couple of inches of wet snow with more in the highest elevations. The rest of the area will pick up an inch or less of slushy accumulation. But, with temps below freezing, some slick spots may develop late tonight on area roads.
I will have a full update tonight. Take care.

What about the ground temp? Is it too warm for snow too even stick here in northeastern Ky? I’ve always wondered about that phenomenon, even though I know the upper level air temp is very important also…
Guess that means that we will probably have school tomorrow in Jackson County. Oh well, I guess the kids want out for summer, but I sure do hate getting out in the mornings when it is soooo cold. I will just have to bundle up really warm. Everyone stay safe!
i’d say we won’t have school in pike tomorrow. we’re supposed to be lucky & get a couple of inches.
i would say alot of people will be out tomorrow if it gets as cold as its suppose to
rain/snow/sleet here very wet snow will only stick on grass and cars and roofs. clouds are going to prevent us from getting too cold.
We were “supposed” to be out for spring break this week….but, we only get Thursday & Friday out to make up some days…..If we’re out tomorrow for snow, I’d say the classrooms will be very empty on Wednesday!! I’m ready for sunny and 80 again!!!
Just damp and cold here. Yuck.
its been a rain/snow mixture here most of the day.. and I noticed that London is reporting FREEZING RAIN!!!..THATS A DOUBLE YUCK!!
its about 36 here i doubt we get to 27 what was originally forecasted now they are giving 32 for our area that should keep the kiddos in school i hope
With the temps we’ve had, I’m sure some snow won’t keep us out of school tomorrow. The roads will be way too warm. A least I hope so. 🙂 I want a summer!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, HECK!!:(
Ain’t seen a darn thing here in Nelson Co. since a rain drizzle around 3pm today…everybody else to the N/S/E/W is getting snow, sleet, etc..
I am so irked…
If anyone is on “Facebook” and would like to be my “friend”(serious weather bud’s/friends only…lol), I’m “Debbie Ballard”-the geeky lookin’ one holding the 2 pup’s w/snow in the background…),feel free!!:) I’m new to FB and after a slow start, am finally startin’ to LIKE IT!!!:) Not trying to get all the “friends” I can collect (not out to break a record here..lol!)-just interested in connecting with ppl. (i.e.=”weather geeks” like myself! I thought I’d be able to get back with a lot of “old” friends, but unbelievably, apparantly, a lot of ppl. I know aren’t there??! Oh, well….?!:)
(Chris B…you’re invited, too, of course!:) -No way would I leave YOU out!!!
Good evening temp in the low 30s and the radar looks like we would be having snow but mostly right now its sleet in Pikeville.

I will keep you and your mom in my prayers, Crystal. I do hope she will be okay.
Thanks Rhonda I have been so blessed to have my mom this long and her mind sharp as a tack so when I see her confused it breaks my heart in two.I was going to stay the night but they made me go home where i have been sick they said it wasnt good for her.She showed some signs of improvement tonight.I will be back there tommorow.
POURING the snow here. the wind is unbelieveable! its smaking the snow so hard against the house it sounds like hail coming down at times. theres no sleet mixed in either, i checked!
Crystal, your Mom is in our prayers here. I know that when my mom was at the end stage of Lung Cancer back in Jan.’06 and she was confused(and the med’s didn’t help matters, either..), I just felt so lost and confused, myself. It’s heartbreaking, and there wasn’t one thing I could do to help her but just be there for her as best as I could. Now my uncle is recovering from a Liver Transplant and one minute he’s “here” and the next he doesn’t know one way from the other, so I know what it’s like. You take care and know that we will all be praying for her!:)
Still no snow/nothing here in Bardstown…ohhh, welllll…lol!;)
Crystal, your mom will be in my prayers. So sorry to hear this about your mom. My father had Alzheimer’s for 8 years and was so confused and it is really hard to understand especially your parents. My heart goes out to you and you will also be in my prayers.
I looked outside a bit ago and we had really bad sleet… then, looked out just a minute ago and we have everything covered in white. That is in Hustonville.
