Good Tuesday everyone and thanks for blogging with me. The weather over the next few weeks is one that makes me say WOW as we are entering into a pattern that is pretty wild for this time of year. That does not make your friendly weather dude happy. ![]()
The good news is that the weather out there today looks very good as temps make a run toward 70 under partly sunny skies. Clouds will quickly increase ahead of a cold front and showers and some thunderstorms will com rolling east by evening and will push through the state tonight. The rains will move out quickly early Wednesday and the sun will return pretty quickly boosting temps to near 60.
Another storm will race in here late Thursday into Friday. This storm continues to look stronger and stronger on the models meaning our chances for showers and thunderstorms are pretty high. Winds should also be gusty as well. Highs Thursday will soar through the 60s and may hit 70 IF the clouds and rain hold off long enough. As mentioned, this is a tightly wound little storm…
GFS Thursday Night
I am wondering if that setup can give us some strong storms? Hmmm… something to watch for anyway. Heavy rains look certain at this point.
Friday will see a dip in temps as the storm pulls out to our northeast. That will set the state for a decent looking weekend as temps rebound into the 60s and maybe even 70s if we are lucky.
Sunday will see clouds increasing as a BIG TIME change begins to take place in the overall pattern. Blocking is showing up and that says look out below as cold air in Canada tries to spill into much of the US. The system sparking the change will be a deep plains low that may produce yet another blizzard there and may have a severe weather outbreak ahead of it.
GFS Sunday Evening
That low slows down across the Great Lakes as it senses the blocking. This allows the cold air to dumbbell in here early next week and could very well lead to some snow showers. ![]()
GFS Monday Night
Look… this is looking like a pretty wicked set up for the fist week or two of April and it’s one that won’t make a lot of people happy. The active storm track will continue and will be doing so with cold air overwhelming the pattern and that can lead to some interesting weather across the eastern half of the country.
GFS April 10th
Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! I will be highly surprised if we don’t see some snowflakes sometime next week. ![]()
On a brighter note… when this chilly pattern breaks… look out! We may go straight into a very warm late April and May across much of the region. ![]()
Have a great Tuesday and take care.

Chris, haven’t we already warned you about using the “S” word unti November? I am SO over the cold temps!
I agree with Chris. First half of April looks nasty and cold. ICK.
Hopefully, my camping trip this weekend will stay dry however. I hope that Sunday system continues to slow up some..
I’ve got a friend visiting from Houston next week. We’ll be at Keeneland Thursday through Saturday. (Blue Grass Stakes Day) Can anybody tell me how cold it might be? She may need to go buy some warmer clothes. As a former Texan, I can say with great authority that Houstonians do not own clothes suitable for a cold day at Keeneland.
Thanks!!
So uh, by partly sunny today… is the other part rain? I was surprised to see rain showers on the way to work this morning.
Yeah I don’t know who forecasted partly sunny for today…but all you gotta’ do is look at radar and tell that it ain’t gonna’ play out that way. 🙂
Lets hope that the pattern breaks sooner than later.
Sounds like we won’t be getting any spring-like weather this year. Gonna go from too darn cold to too darn hot. 🙁
Uh, I don’t know who said partly sunny today, but, here in Somerset, it is mostly cloudy, and we are already having rain showers….they are light, but they are there. And I was looking forward to seeing a little more sun shine today before the rains returned. 🙁
But to be honest, we did have a little sun, about 9 this morning. It didn’t last long, though.
And Chris, you can KEEP the snow. Tomorrow is April, and I am ready for spring time in a BIG TIME way! guess it will get here to stay when it gets here, huh? 😉 Ah well, thanks for the update. Now if we could just get an update on the coaching situation….. 😉
Oh well!!..snowed on easter last yr. and the yr. before that too(I think). Might as well make it 3 in a row…LOL..SHUT YO’ MOUTH TIM!!!!…Cant believe I just said that…I’m ready for full fledged spring!!!no more winter PLEASE!!!…
I can’t remember the last time so many snow and winter lovers were ready for spring.
i like pie!
Did y’all see the damage survey done for Woodford County? Looks like a carbon copy system for Thursday, and maybe again on Sunday.
good could use some drier weather barely got anything out of that here but will hope its not to bad for the people that do have to deal with it
Afternoon, everyone. Just checking in to see if the weather forecast had (hopefully) changed. I see that it has not, and in fact, I see a line of heavy rain, maybe some thunder, headed our way. Just my luck. Gotta go to the grocery, and about the time I either some out, or get home, it will pour. I GUARANTEE it! 😉
Any OFFICIAL word on the new coach yet?:D
