Good Tuesday everyone and thanks for blogging with me. The weather over the next few weeks is one that makes me say WOW as we are entering into a pattern that is pretty wild for this time of year. That does not make your friendly weather dude happy.

The good news is that the weather out there today looks very good as temps make a run toward 70 under partly sunny skies. Clouds will quickly increase ahead of a cold front and showers and some thunderstorms will com rolling east by evening and will push through the state tonight. The rains will move out quickly early Wednesday and the sun will return pretty quickly boosting temps to near 60.

Another storm will race in here late Thursday into Friday. This storm continues to look stronger and stronger on the models meaning our chances for showers and thunderstorms are pretty high. Winds should also be gusty as well. Highs Thursday will soar through the 60s and may hit 70 IF the clouds and rain hold off long enough. As mentioned, this is a tightly wound little storm…

GFS Thursday Night

I am wondering if that setup can give us some strong storms? Hmmm… something to watch for anyway. Heavy rains look certain at this point.

Friday will see a dip in temps as the storm pulls out to our northeast. That will set the state for a decent looking weekend as temps rebound into the 60s and maybe even 70s if we are lucky.

Sunday will see clouds increasing as a BIG TIME change begins to take place in the overall pattern. Blocking is showing up and that says look out below as cold air in Canada tries to spill into much of the US. The system sparking the change will be a deep plains low that may produce yet another blizzard there and may have a severe weather outbreak ahead of it.

GFS Sunday Evening

That low slows down across the Great Lakes as it senses the blocking. This allows the cold air to dumbbell in here early next week and could very well lead to some snow showers.

GFS Monday Night

Look… this is looking like a pretty wicked set up for the fist week or two of April and it’s one that won’t make a lot of people happy. The active storm track will continue and will be doing so with cold air overwhelming the pattern and that can lead to some interesting weather across the eastern half of the country.

GFS April 10th

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! I will be highly surprised if we don’t see some snowflakes sometime next week.

On a brighter note… when this chilly pattern breaks… look out! We may go straight into a very warm late April and May across much of the region.

Have a great Tuesday and take care.
