Good Sunday everyone and thanks for blogging with us! Here we are ready to round out the weekend with more in the way of nice weather across the region. The weather has been rather calm in recent weeks giving your friendly weather dude a chance to get a little R and R! The pattern over the next week is likely to be anything but calm and quiet!
Let’s start with where we are now and that is with more of the same. Highs today will reach 60 in most areas under partly sunny skies and this will make for a great way to end the weekend. Monday and Tuesday look good as well with temps that will be in the 60s for highs with more in the way of some sunshine.
It is once we get past this point that things will begin to get a little more active. It all starts with a strong storm system across the plains states. This storm is likely to produce a big severe weather event out there Monday and Tuesday. Showers and storms will then make their way toward us Tuesday night into Wednesday. Here is the NAM model for Wednesday morning…
We will have to see how the timing of the front into the state works out before we can see if we will see any strong storms out of this. The pattern from this point forward into next weekend is one that can produce a lot of rain and storms around here. I talked about this some with my last post. A deep trough is forecast to slowly dig into the western half of the country and slowly head toward the east. This can put us in a moist southwesterly flow as the next storm system moves toward us by the end of the week into next weekend.
The GFS shows this setup nicely…
FRIDAY NIGHT
That setup could produce widespread showers and storms across much of the region… IF it comes to pass. Check out the 60 hour rain totals the model is spitting out…
That is certainly something for us to keep an eye on in the coming days.
I mentioned a deep trough across the west… this trough is forecast by the models to work east after the rains leading to a colder pattern. Some of the models suggest some flakes would be possible! ![]()
GFS SUNDAY EVENING
Enjoy the next few days, folks! ![]()
I will have another update coming later tonight so check back. Until then… take care!

Nothing wrong with Flakes weeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Thanks, Chris for the update. Nice to know we are going to see a little nice weather before things get wet again. I am looking forward to seeing a couple more back to back nice days with warmer temps.
Andy, nothing wrong with flakes, unless it is dandriff! 😉 but if they come, I want to send them all to you and Tim.
Speaking of Tim, anybody heard from him? Haven’t seena post from him in a couple of days….just wondering if all is well, or did he have his surgery? Andy? Anyone?
Tim isn’t scheduled for surgery yet from what i understand he is suppose to be going to the Drs and discussing it.
As my grandmother says, we still have a lot of “winters” to go through before the warm air is here to stay. Redbud winter, blackberry winter, etc. At least we’re starting to see the light at the end of the long wintry tunnel!
I was also posting to see if you guys would please include my friend BreAnne in your prayers. She is having brain surgery to remove a cyst this week. I think in the eyes of a brain surgeon, this surgery isn’t too rough, but for us it’s pretty scary.
So if you don’t mind, send a prayer up for her. 🙂 Thanks!
Good morning coffeelady…and gang, and you all really dont know how much it means that you all are asking and giving me good information on the surgery I’m to have… Going to Lex. on the 28th, saturday morning for a Surgeon consultation, I will be sure to let you all know how it goes. Hey we’re all blog family right…lol… alot of us have been at this for over 4 yrs. together now…WOW…time flies!!!
NOW on to the CRAZY WEATHER!!…I’ll take 2 prescriptions of sunny and 75…
NO REFILLS on the cold, and more Fl..FL..I cant even say it..:(…..
LOL…LOL…
Well gotta run, as usual running late for church…take care and have a great day…
…..
Oh yeah coffeelady, we Finally got a new van…thanks for everything though. I appreciate it.
Going to Lex? Would it be Tibbs thats doing it? He’s the one that did mine. He’s a great surgeon but is getting up there in years.
I wish you the best of luck and Prayers are sent your way.
That’s true about all those winters, my gran used to say that all the time. Tab, your friend will be in my prayers for a quick recovery.
Tim, you as well…hope everything goes well.
Hello to everyone, hope you have a wonderful Sunday!
I just said my prayer!
Tim,
Tibbs would be my pick. He has a good name. I have had back surgery in the 90’s but he did not do it. Not all back Drs. are the same.
I vote for the spring weather. Although, my allergies are telling me otherwise. Thanks Chris for always keeping us informed.
Thanks for the update, Chris. Can’t wait til spring is here to stay- does it look to be wet over April and May?
Patty,
Went to my first Track Meet for the season and it turned out to be beautiful weather. It was cloudy and chilly the first couple of hours, but after that the sun came out and it was real nice. Sure hope the rest of them are the same.
next weekend should be wild going from severe weather to snow showers.
high for next sunday

Pat…That sounds so nice! I miss the meets. Chase isn’t running at WKU. He’s invoved in ultimate frisbee, a club sport there. They had their home touney this weekend, but I wasn’t able to go. I had to work ALL weekend! BOOOOOOOOOO! Need the money though.
