Good Wednesday everyone and what a wonderful Wednesday it is across Kentucky. Plenty of sunshine and temps that will be spiking into the lower 70s will make this day to get outside!!
This will mark back to back days with awesome weather for us and this is a nice payback from mother nature after the nasty stuff of this past weekend. Enjoy today though as we do have some changes coming for the next few days as a cold front slips in from the northwest. This front will bring showers and maybe a thunderstorm to us early Thursday and this will be followed by a big time chill down compared to today. The NAM shows this front nicely…
Thursday Afternoon
There wont be a whole heck of a lot or rain with this with most areas getting between a quarter and a half inch. Winds will be very gusty during this time as well… that does not exactly work out as breaking news during the month of March though. ![]()
The big deal with this front will be the temps and the big drop from today to Thursday. Check out the map I have put together that shows the temp forecast from the NAM…
You can see just how chilly Thursday will be with temps falling into the mid and upper 40s. We should stay there for highs Friday as well… even with some sunshine. Morning lows in the high 20s will be with us for Friday and Saturday mornings.
After that we will be seeing a nice warmup with 50s for Saturday and low 60s for Sunday with sunny skies still with us. A southwesterly wind flow will set up around here early next week boosting temps toward 70 once again. We will have to keep an eye on the chance for a shower or two on the nose of this warmer air. Otherwise… things look good into the middle of next week.
That’s all I have for you today. I do want to say how about those MOREHEAD STATE EAGLES and KENTUCKY WILDCATS!!!!!!!!!
Now go out and have a great Wednesday and take care!

Good Morning everyone. Thanks Chris for the update. I don’t like those 20’s coming back, but hopefully they won’t hang around too long. The weather is beautiful today and it’s my day off. I’m going to do alot of yard and garden work. (Maybe even get a suntan 😉
Thanks Chris for the update!!…Looks like my area down here along the border MIGHT get to keep those temps up around at least 60!! for Thursday, this is one time I’m glad to be on the warmer side of things…LOL..
Im like TBinFKT…aka..(julie)..LOL…Im ready to get out and work in the garden and yard…Hopefully I can get an early start this yr. to get things rolling..I’ve got to have Back surgery the coming weeks..and I dread it. Gotta go see the surgeon next saturday…so when you all get a minute or two just throw up a good word for me. SO HOPEFULLY I WONT HAVE TO ENDURE TO MUCH PAIN…O.k. enough of that I guess…have a great day gang, because I know I sure am!!!…
WOW…didnt realize how cold it was down here in the valleys this morning…
33* here this morning..brrrr!!!
Looks like next week we might see Spring severe weather season get off to a start…
yes, sir…heading out to enjoy the day 🙂
Thnaks Chris…..I had the sunroof open in the car yesterday. It felt sooo good!
No Tim! I’m always JULIE – never TBinFKT. Promise! But I do share the sentiments of getting out in the garden and such. More than that though, I want to go camping!
12Z GFS still shows the severe threat next week. But for today, it’s a top-down Jeep kind of day!
the flowers are just coming up and a freeze is on the way, can’t catch any breaks around here.
it’s great out there today!
Daffodils started bout 3 weeks ago they are usually the early flowers most prob are
LOL, Tim. No, Julie is Julie and I am TBinFKT. We are both from Frankfort tho. 😉
Average temperature for March so far at LEX is 45.4. At FFT it is 45.6. I’ve got 47.0 at my house so far. So we are slightly above normal. Precip. is WAY below normal at only .61″ at my house which is crazy low for March.
Maybe you should move to SE KY we got plenty of moisture i will gladly share with ya
and more coming
Evening all! Boy what a beautiful day it has been! I had the sunroof tilted and the windows down part way! I loved it!
chris, you think the rain will not be too heavy then, for this next system? I hope not, as we really need a few dry days here in southern and SE KY.
Wxman, I can say AMEN to Andy’s comment. We have more than made up for your lack of precip this month. Counting the snow, we have had plenty!
I know, I know, we will want it when it gets dry later in the summer. But, maybe it can wait until a little later to come, and just give us three or four days without the wet stuff….
I am NOT liking the AM temps for Friday and Saturday! Ah, well. Upper forties, and low to mid fifties are actually normal for this time of year, aren’t they? So, we are really just going back to normal stuff.
Tim, what kind of back surgery are you having? My brother was supposed to be having it next week, but since he has asthma, and rhuemetoid (?) arthritis, they wanted to do some tests first, to make sure he could go through it. turns out, he has soe blockages in his heart, and instead of back surgery, he is going to be having bypass, or open heart surgery instead. Please keep him in your prayers. And I will be keeping you in mine, too, Tim. God bless.
Well, time to wind down and get ready for bed. Thanks you for the update, Chris, and I am looking forward to your thoughts on the weekend weather, as well. Have a good night, everyone, and we will talk to you tomorrow!
Thanks for the update, Chris. Today was beautiful! 72 degrees and beautiful blue skies! Loved it!
Tim, you will be in my prayers. Keep my brother in yours, too. He is going to have to have open heart surgery in the next couple of weeks. Ironically, he was having pre tests for back surgery. (asthma and rhumetoid arthritis).
Looking nforward to the next update, Chris. Thanks again for all you do here on the blog!
