Good Monday to one and all and thanks for stopping by this little thing I like to call the blog!
Here is hoping each of you had a great weekend. The weather left a lot to be desired as we had some ugly conditions across most of the state. This brings us to today and what appears to be a touch more of the gloomy stuff.
Since the weather is calm… I decided to have a little fun with the start of a new week. In honor of this day… let’s hear it for some ladies from the eighties…. The Bangles…
Just Another Manic Monday it is!!!
Ok…. enough of the Bangles. Let’s talk a little bit about the weather.
We have some more scattered showers that will be moving across the region today as yet another disturbance swings through. Skies will be mostly cloudy with temps in the low and mid 50s. You can track the showers here…

The weather will be getting much better over the next few days. Highs will warm into the 60s for Tuesday and Wednesday under mostly sunny skies. We have a shot at 70… especially Wednesday ahead of a strong cold front. This will swing through here Thursday with showers and gusty winds and will bring much colder air to us. Temps will be falling during the day and by Friday may gave a tough time cracking 50.
This air mass does not look as cold for the weekend and I am loving it! The high that brings the chilly air for later Thursday and Friday will slip off the eastern seaboard bringing a nice return southerly flow by late in the weekend into early next week. This should allow for temps to warm nicely.
The overall pattern is a blocky one for the rest of March which will result in a yo yo effect as far as temps go. That blocky look on the models is usually pretty fun to look at and the Sunday European Model was cool as it kind of reminds me of the Geico commercials. See for yourself…

That’s the money you could be saving by switching to the blog for all your weather needs!
Have a great Monday folks and take care.
Wow, the Bangles and a stack of cash staring at me first thing Monday morning. I like what I see in terms of temperatures, bring on spring!!
By the way, I just saved $500 by switching away from Geico.
very foggy here this AM. I am still having trouble loading this page. It takes at least 4-5 minutes, where before it was instant. anybody else?
My page is loading just fine. It is also VERY foggy here this morning. I hope everyone is extra careful this morning. I’m ready for some really warm, sunny days!
After getting all that snow and ice off my car this past Friday morning, I’m ready for Spring!
Hey Chris, I like your idea of the songs for the day. 🙂
UGH!!!…Is it monday already??..(now I’ll be singin that song all day)..lol
double UGH!!..for more rain..:(
WE need SUNSHINE AND 70* GOOD GRIEF! we’ve had way to many rainy, dreary dark, gloomy days here lately.
Oh yeah, and Geico is who we have, and they we’re very easy to deal with, after my wife totalled her van last week….I guess that would be a TRIPLE UGH!!!..
Hilarity at its finest.
-Anyone heading up to Dayton to watch Morehead State play on Tuesday?? I’m going to try…
-Should I try and reschedule a softball scrimmage that is on Thursday for Wednesday instead?
Hey Teacher, if you go to Dayton, be sure to go to the coffee shop behind Mikes carwash. The pastries are unbelieveable!!! It’s on Fairfield rd just east of where you’re going. The mall is nice too. I used to live there. good stuff 🙂
The Bangles and the Bengals both suck. So does this lingering low level cloud deck. It’s time for this crap to get pushed out to sea and the sun to shine again. Depressing…
Chris..Since I’ve been bumped to second shift my song for the day is “A Hard Days Night” by the Beatles! Belivee you mean it applies to my work!!
Depressing is that last post, WXman. Thanks, Chris, for all your hard work on the blog. Monday’s sound track is Van the Man Morrison, What’s Wrong with the World? (Not enough Van the Man, IMO!)
RAINY DAYS AND WASTED NITES,,,
WE HAVE MODERAT RAIN IN GUNNYVILLE..
current conditions:
Tim’s backyard: OH WHAT A SURPRISE, MORE RAIN!!!…:(
UM…well I used to have a backyard, kinda looks like the Florida Marshes at the moment…lol..
Cumberland River is running high, down here. Had a huge mud/rock slide over south rt. 11 this morning, causing buses, local residents, and folk on their way to work this morning to be held up for hrs. SO WE ARE GETTING TIRED OF THIS MESS DOWN HERE…WE WANT SUNSHINE!!!!!!!!!!!…
My song of the day, “Tell me why I don’t like Mondays” by the Boomtown Rats.
I don’t like this Monday because of the lack of Sunshine, but hopefully we’ll cure that for St. Patty’s day tomorrow!
Good Luck to Morehead on Tuesday!
Southeastern Ky baseball coach here…season gets under way March 23rd and wondering does the long range extended look like?
Coach…I’m wondering the same thing…we are camping (not hardcore camping this time, we’re RV’ing) from the 28th to the 5th. I so want sunshine…our softball team starts practice that week too.
please look into your meteorological crystal ball and see what we’re in for…
Looks warm (60s) with occasional chances for rain (every few days).
The clouds are finally breaking up! Woohoo!!! Temps. are going to hit the 60s and the evening is going to be beautiful!! SKYWARN class tonight in Anderson County.
well the 12z run of the gfs is showing a snowstorm for march 27th and 28th…WE ALL HOPE THAT CHANGES!!…

Good Monday afternoon to you all. I hope that the gloomy weather will leave for a couple of days, anyway. Kind of matches my mood today, though.
Ah well, we will get better weather tomorrow and the next day. We just have to be patient.
Chris, my song for today would have to be “Rainy Days and Mondays”. Just seems to fit today….. 😉
I know many folks on this site are not big Bill Meck fans, but I thought I’d mention anyways that Bill Meck is doing a “Bill’s Weather 101 for Grownups” at the Eagle Creek Branch of the Lexington Public Library tomorrow night (3/17) at 7:00 p.m. This program is free to the public; we’ve got nearly 50 people signed up, but we still have some slots open, so if you’re interested just call the library at (859)231-5560 to reserve a place. I would love to have Chris Bailey come and do a library program for us, if he didn’t live so far away from Lexington. Maybe next time we’ll see if T.G. will be willing to come. Thanks for letting me mention this.
think that was the most i seen slide off that hill they are still working on it must happened after 7 it was clear when i came through this morning
Speak for yaself 😛 but i’m a non believer now anyways ruined the perfect op this weekend for snow
Hi Chris. Things will not get boring in the least with spring around the corner, that is when our major storm systems start to kick in. Besides, I don’t know about you but I am soooo ready for summer! This is one winter we will not forget for a long time. The big ice storm of 2009. It was bad! Thank God it is over and lets look at those easter lillies blooming…..warm weather on the way soon. 🙂
BACK in BLACK!! AC/DC my musac this evening.
you smell that??
the smell of hoss poopp and spring meet at keeneland!!!ahhhhhhhhhh
I’m afraid I’ll have to go with an upbeat, feelin’ good song, folks…”Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head”….that’s what it has been doing all day. If it doesn’t stop, some creeks are going to spill over.
It may be Monday, and it may be raining…but I am alive and happy, my friends and family are, too,…and so, I am thankful!
Life is easier when you look at the glass and see it half full…:)
Are you kidding – this has to be the day for Rainy days and Mondays!!!!!!!!
