Good Tuesday everyone and thanks for dropping by the blog. I will keep this one short and sweet as I will be updating the threat for thunderstorms coming later in the day. Today is looking like a warm and windy day across the state as a warm front moves northward through the region.
This front will touch off a few showers or thunderstorms early this morning… mainly in the north. You can track this on radar…
The main threat with severe weather along our cold front will be for areas just to our west. Here is the latest from the Storm Prediction Center…
We are likely to see a squall line of storms develop across the western Ohio Valley and come racing southeastward toward us this evening and overnight. While the setup is not optimal for severe storms… there is a lot of wind energy available for these storms to tap and that is what we will be watching for. That is what I will update on later this afternoon.
Temps today will be very warm with most areas well into the 70s. Can I hear an 80? It is certainly possible with enough sunshine… especially in the south. You can track the temps here…

Much colder air moves in on Wednesday and we are setting ourselves up for an ugly pattern after that which will carry us into the weekend and next week. More on all that with the later post as well.
Have a great Tuesday and make sure you enjoy this big time warmth!
Take care gang.

Good morning all.Tim I am glad your family is okay and Megan and all the sick ones get better.
Is anyone else getting an error when you go to comments and try to post? Something about an application error?
Chris what would that be?
Rolo are you in bed at 623am?You must be I see no song for today!!!!!!!!
had that several times yesterday its a Server error
GFS has gone from Sunday wintry mix to Sunday t-storms and 50s in 24 hours. LOL. Forecasting in March is a tough tough task.
Very bad timing to get severe wx tonight…but like Chris says let’s keep an eye on it anyway.
New Day 1 outlook has the Slight Risk line nudged farther east into Kentucky now. Frankfort, Louisville, Shelbyville now in the 2% tornado area..
A nice balmy 68* already on Herrington Lake in Boyle County.

Sun is just now starting to shine
“WITH REGARDS TO POTENTIAL SEVERE WEATHER OVERNIGHT…NEW DETERMINISTIC MODELS ARE A BIT STRONGER WITH A LINE OF STRONG STORMS COMING THROUGH THE REGION TONIGHT. WHILE THE LINE WILL BE COMING THROUGH IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT…NOT AN OPTIMAL TIME FROM A
INSTABILITY/HEATINGSTANDPOINT…ENVIRONMENTAL WINDS JUST OFF THE SFC WILL BE QUITE STRONG AND STORMS COULD PRODUCE SOME DAMAGING WINDS AS THEY MOVE THROUGH. WE`LL BE ADDRESSING THOSE CONCERNS LATER THIS AFTERNOON THE AFTERNOON DISCUSSION.” -NWS LMK
Thanks MJ!
Some of the worst storms I’ve ever seen here have been at NIGHT. Remember sept 2006. 7 inches of rain in Lexington. I vaguely remember it being around midnight or 1 am. I know it seemed to storm FOREVER. Scared me a few times.
Looks like they did a special sounding at ILX at 14:00, but for some reason it won’t open so you can view it.
Afternoon everyone. I guess everyone is out enjoying the weather from looking at the lack of comments. Can’t say as I blame them. Wanted to get on earlier and coment, but didn’t even get a chance to get on and read it, much less comment!
Chris, looking forward to your thoughts about the storms we expect later tonight and early morning. I really hope that they don’t get severe! NOt fun anytime, but especailly late at night or early morning. Is there a chance that we may be spared the strong storms? I remember about 10 days ago how I got woke up at 5 AM for a severe t-storm warning. And again at 6, and 6:15……I just want to be better prepared this time. 😉
Well, I know we will all be checking in frequently this evening. I know I will be!
CB we need the 18z gfs moisture a little further north
18z gfs THU MAR 28
I will keep on dreamin.
Been enjoying the beautiful weather today! And when the sun set installed my new power supply on my PC.
As regards to severe weather it’s looking pretty tame right now, I hope it stays that way.
Finally, go BIG RED! WKU plays tonight on ESPN 2 at 10 for a chance to go to the NCAA. I’m all for 3 or 4 Kentucky schools in the tourney!
Pretty slow on the blog. I don’t say a lot on here, but I need to say this in case it helps someone. Some of you know I am an attorney. This is not political.
If you are in foreclosure, or are having trouble with your mortgage, know this:
In advance of the actual institution of the government’s mortgage relief program, financial institutions have chosen to run headlong into a scorch and burn foreclosure policy. I live in Lex, and as of now, I am aware of thirteen people who have been served with foreclosure suites since Saturday. These are people I know, who all are 30 days late. Not 60, not 90, but 30 days late on their mortgages.
The common thread is that in ALL of these suits, the lender admits in the Complaint (suit papers) that it does not have a copy of the promissory note, upon which such a suit must be based.
YOU CAN”T FORECLOSE ON SOMEONE UNLESS YOU HAVE THAT NOTE.
They don’t have a copy of the note because the notes are bundled and sold to investors, and the investors have all gone kaput.
If you are in trouble, write your lender and demand a copy of your note. If they don’t have it, keep the letter. It will serve you well down the road.
This is going to be the next HUGE scandal, economic problem, whatever you want to call it. Judges in Florida are throwing out foreclosure suits like yesterday’s trash over this issue.
Why do I know this? Because I was served Saturday.
And for those of you who think you are fine? You should immediately demand that your lender “show you the note,” and all assignments thereof.
Look forward to some thunder and lightning tonight.
Slow day on the blog. I just submitted an lengthy, non weather related post, but got put in moderation. I hope the full post shows back up. The point was, I have figured out something that has gone horribly wrong with mortgages. Something that will be catastrophic, if the law is followed.
If you are in trouble with your mortgage, or even if you are not, make your lender SHOWS you the promissory note. Your note is a negotiable instrument, as easily transferred as a one dollar bill. From my experience over the past week, you can have NO confidence that your mortgage payment is going to the institution that actually owns your loan.I will await additional moderation, but will check back.
Ok, that one did not go to mod.
This is a serious problem. I am a lawyer, and can say with a certain assurance that this is going to be the issue of the year.
go WKU! we’ll have 3 ky teams not named UK in the NCAA depressing and no NIT in lex b/c of the sweet 16.
PEAK WIND GUSTS WITH DEVELOPING STORMS COULD APPROACH OR BRIEFLY
EXCEED SEVERE LIMITS FOR A PERIOD THIS EVENING. BUT…CONVECTION IS
EXPECTED TO REMAIN PREDOMINANTLY SUB-SEVERE.
FRONTOGENETIC FORCING NEAR A SLOWLY SOUTHEASTWARD ADVANCING COLD
FRONT HAS SUPPORTED INTENSIFYING CONVECTIVE DEVELOPMENT DURING THE
PAST HOUR OR SO…APPARENTLY AS IT FINALLY INTERACTED WITH A
PRE-FRONTAL AXIS OF STRONGER DAYTIME HEATING AND TONGUE OF LOW-LEVEL
MOISTURE. STILL MAXIMUM CAPE IS FAIRLY WEAK…AND UNLIKELY TO
IMPROVE…AS DIURNAL COOLING IS NOW ALREADY UNDERWAY. DESPITE THE
CLOSE PROXIMITY TO A VERY STRONG SOUTHWESTERLY MID/HIGH LEVEL
JET…WHICH IS CONTRIBUTING TO DEEP LAYER MEAN FLOW OF 50-60
KT…THE BULK OF THE GENERALLY LOW TOPPED STORMS APPEAR TO REMAIN
BELOW…AND UNAFFECTED BY…THE HIGHER MOMENTUM FLOW. THIS PROBABLY
WILL LIMIT THE DAMAGING WIND POTENTIAL IN A WEAK LAPSE RATE
ENVIRONMENT UNFAVORABLE FOR STRONG DOWNDRAFTS. HOWEVER…MODELS DO
SUGGEST A PRE-FRONTAL 40 KT 850 MB JET WILL INTENSIFY IN EXCESS OF
50-60 KT ACROSS THE LOWER OHIO VALLEY NEAR/SHORTLY AFTER 03Z.
BUT…BY THIS TIME…A STABILIZING AIR MASS SEEMS LIKELY TO
CONTRIBUTE TO WEAKENING/DIMINISHING THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY.
from the spc our severe weather chances are not that high for overnight.
the long range is looking warmer as once again the gfs is trending toward the euro.
Nobody look at the 0z NAM for Thursday night! It can’t be I recieved a sunburn working in the yard yesterday and now possible accumulating snow! it cant be.
MITCH I GUESS AFTER LOOKING AT YOUR 14 DAY OUTLOOK CHRIS IS GOING TO TELL US TONIGHT WINTER IS OVER……
I thought everybody knew winter was over. 🙂 Well, that’s to say if we can’t get the big one, we don’t want snowflakes here and there. Marsha, I believe Chris may finally throw the towel in when it comes to any major winter events being left.
You may be right I’m like you if we can’t get the big one just let it be over……
T-O-P-S TOPS TOPS TOPS! I’m so happy WKU is going to the big dance one more time!
WKU is making a habit of punching their ticket to the NCAA tournament..Not all is lost in this fine state, 3 teams for the state!!..But most important the best team in the state this season is WKU…TOPS TOPS TOPS……
