Good Sunday to one and all. It has been one heck of a weather weekend across the state. Highs were well into the 70s on Saturday to go along with some sunshine and gusty winds. This taste of spring is just what the doctor ordered for a lot of folks… myself included! ![]()
With the warm and windy conditions also comes the chance for some strong or severe storms this afternoon and evening. The Storm Prediction Center has placed much of the area under a slight risk for severe storms. Here is the latest from the SPC…
We will be watching for a broken line of storms developing to our west that will come racing eastward. Damaging winds and large hail will be possible and there is just enough shear that an isolated tornado may be possible. The best chance for severe weather will be across central and western Kentucky. A slightly higher risk will be farther northwest into Indiana and Illinois.
Here is the radar for you to track the storms…
The blog will keep an eye on the storms and will update as needed through the day and will go to live blogging if we have t so be sure to check back with us.
On another note… how about those Morehead State Eagles!!!!!! OVC champs and heading to the NCAA tourney for the first time since 1984!! At least I will have a team to cheer for in the tourney this year since it looks like the Cats are NIT bound. We won’t dwell on the negative… let’s stay positive and say GO EAGLES!!!!!!!! ![]()
Take care.

Congrats to MSU!!!!!! I’m so glad they won!!!!
Morning Chris, and congrats to MSU!!! That is awesome. I am so glad thay won. From the highlights I saw, it was a pretty good game.
As far as the weather goes, the weekend has really been nice! Great weather to just get outside. and that is what I did yesterday.
I hope the storms don’t get severe on us, but this is the time of year when we have to look out for that stuff. I don’t mind thunder and lightning, as long as they are not at severe limits.
Got the weather radio on though, so, if it does gt bad, I’ll know it!
But chris, one thing…just because March is Severe Weather Month, please tell it that that does NOT mean is has to behave that way! 😉
Have a great day, everyone. Chris, I know you will keep us updated.
squall line in missouri is likely to build up might be something to keep eye on
Thanks Chris for the update, we will need to keep our eye to the sky.
I am glad MSU won, they did not do too well while you and I were in attendance, but that did not keep me from rooting for them!!!
Congrats Morehead. Great win in double OT. Must say I thought Austin Peay was going to win in OT. Austin Peay lead the whole game, MSU score with about 6 seconds left in regulation to take their first lead of the second half. Then Austin Peay hit a right place right time shot to send it into overtime. Looked like peay had it going their way. But with 2 seconds left in the 2nd OT a freshman hit a baseline jumper for his first points of the game to give MSU a 2 point lead. Luckily MSU’s coach put someone ON THE MAN INBOUNDING THE BALL and Peay got off a bad shot. Go eagles. Now I don’t have to root for Louisville in the NCAA. Hopefully WKU will make it too.
BTW what’s the chances of Pitino coming back. If I was Mitch Barhardt(sp.) I would ask him what it would take to have him back on the sidelines at UK and give Pitio what ever he wanted.

moderate risk now for areas along the ohio river. wxman, chris, myself and likely one or two i have not named have been indicating this severe threat for days now and to quite a few in the weather community the increasing threat for severe weather may come as a shock which is kind of sad. the squall line has already formed in missouri with severe storms some with tornadoes. this will be a very active day by mid to late afternoon.
Slim to none…and slim left town.
Pitino has stated several times that he is not interested in coming back.
Well, when SPC issues a “moderate” risk, they mean business. We are close to the moderate risk are. Things could get interesting later.
I went to bed when the Morehead game went into OT. Glad they pulled it out.
Did anyone catch Seth Davis’ comments on CBS at halftime of the UK game?
He intimated that Billy Slide is toast.
Does he know something?
Lost our brilliant sun here in Winchester, and it is windy, windy.
That squall line in MO looks like it means business. I see some pretty intense stuff there. Yikes….
Funny thing is, I think Morehead would beat the Cats this year, so better team for the tourney.
Bill “NIT” G is special kind of dude… not really.
im ready for some nice mean thunder storms i no most dont want them but im from texas and you dont get better there then strong storms!
68* here in East Bernstadt. Winds picking up a bit at 17mph. It’s mostly cloudy but the sun has peeked out a few times today.
Looks like the storms in MO are picking up a little steam over the last little bit, judging by the last few radar images. Could be an interesting evening/night around here.
Since this isn’t a pro-UK site (haha), I just gotta say GO HEELS!! UNC over Duke by 5 pts later this afternoon…my prediction! 😉
Where at in Texas? I am a Texas Transplant too lol I grew up near the panhandle 🙂
