Good Saturday everyone and welcome to spring! Temps out there this weekend will be more typical of mid April rather than early March. The weekend will also be noted for us losing an hour of sleep. Why? Because it is time to…

It is a few weeks earlier than normal this year and all that means is we get even less time to sleep. Oh well… such is life.

Temps are the big story out there today as highs hit the 70s across the entire area. If we can get enough sunshine… temps will have a shot at heading close to 80 for the first time since October. Time to break out the shorts! Well… that is after I break out the tan in a bottle.

Winds will be very gusty today as well under partly sunny skies. Again… this is one heck of a day shaping up out there. Our Sunday may not be as nice as we are likely to see more clouds ahead of a cold front that will swing toward the area. This front never really clears the area but should spawn some late day showers and thunderstorms from west to east. There is enough instability for the chance for some strong or severe storms Sunday evening… especially across central and western Kentucky. Here is the latest outlook from the Storm Prediction Center…

SPC Day 2 0700Z Outlook Categorical

Will the front be able to cause a few more showers and storms Monday? That is something to watch out for as it returns back to the north as a warm front. This front will be draped across our region Tuesday as a strong cold front enters from the west. This is a good setup for possible heavy rain producing clusters of showers and storms withe the chance for some severe weather as the front moves through Tuesday night. Tuesday into early Wednesday could be active so check back with us over the next few days.

After that… we say goodbye to the spring weather for a while. The pattern continues to look UGLY for the middle and end to March meaning winter is not over. I am in denial of this happening so that is all you get on that right now.

I have to give props to my Morehead State Eagles as they are playing tonight for the chance to dance as they take on Austin Peay in the OVC tourney down in Nashville! As an MSU grad… it would be sweet to see the Eagles make their first NCAA  tournament since the mid 80s! Fear the Eagle…

You have to cheer for Morehead against Austin Peay! I mean… do you really want to say the cheer “LET’S GO PEAY”? Go Cats and Go Eagles! Have a great day gang and I will update later. Take care.
