*****7PM UPDATE*****
Good evening gang! First off let me say this is not going to be a big update… your friendly weather dude is not so friendly right now after watching yet another UK game go down the toilet. You have a lineup to start the second half that causes a 20 point swing in the game to give your team A 10 point lead then you mess with that lineup? Incredible.
As far as the weather goes… just keep doing what you are doing and posting your weather. I apprecaite all you guys do for the blog. The setup remains the same… a swath of heavy, wet snow through the evening hours. There will be a sharp cutoff with this bad boy and radar will be our best friend tonight.
Again… sorry about the shortness of the post. But I am in a bad mood and need to blow off a little steam now. ![]()
Thanks again and take care.
PREVIOUS DISCUSSION
Good Saturday afternoon. I wanted to drop by with an all inclusive blog to track the rain and snow that is rolling across the state today. Things still appear to be on track for a swath of heavy, wet snow setting up somewhere across the area. Pinpointing where this sets up is a pain in the backside to say the least!
When dealing with these types of situations… you can put some smiles on some faces and can put frowns on others as we will likely see some fairly sharp cutoffs to the accumulating snows. Who smile and who frowns is an hour by hour process folks! By the way… that was a great mid morning update discussion from the NWS in Jackson! They sum up the forecasting headaches very well!
A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY is out for the southern and eastern parts of the state…
Radar continues to show heavy amounts of precip working slowly from south to north…
What we should start seeing is the precip shield run into an invisible wall across the far north later this afternoon. This will pile the air up and we will see the moisture get stretched out in more of an west to east fashion through the evening. Where that “stretching” occurs will be the area that can get heavy, wet snow.
Temps are colder than the models were forecasting across many areas with a lot of readings that have fallen off into the upper 20s and lower 30s.
Current Temps
Winds today are fairly gusty as well and are strong out of the north and northeast. That is one thing you look for in forecasting snow around here… a northeasterly wind!
Current Winds
I have added some area web cams to help track the rain and snow this afternoon…
Lexington
Somerset
Richmond
Stanton
Pikeville
Today is a day where your REAL TIME reports are going to help more than ever. Let us know what the weather is doing where you live… temps and precip type especially! Please give us a good locater on where you are as well.
I will update as needed so check back. Take care.

Thanks chris…Nothing here yet even though the pink is showing up on the map!
As of 12:40 pm in South Laurel County
35F with Rain, heavy at times… been raining steadily for several hours now.
Pressure starting to drop a little
Thanks Chris. It is raining, 36* in Hustonville at the moment.
32* here in Richmond Radar shows us covered in pink but nothing hitting the ground right now has been that way for a while.
Thanks for the update, CB. There’s a lot of pink in our area on the map, but at the moment, here at the Johnson Floyd cty line, nothing is coming out of the sky. I didn’t think verga showed up as pink?
Rain and 35 in my neck of the woods which is northern Clay.
Nothing here yet.
31* in versailles with cloudy skies and untreated roads any ice to start will make things very hazardus quick.
Chris nothing coming from the sky yet the temp are about 34 we have a little bit of wind……
In south central Laurel County right on I-75 half way between London and Corbin it is raining and 37 degrees at 12:55pm
stil got plenty of rain here in Knox County lemme go see what the door says the temp is hmm hoovering between 39-40
Just went outside here in Northwestern Floyd Co. (about 3 miles northwest of Prestonsburg) and I have sleet mixing in with a light rain shower. I’m going to say this is a good sign that I already have some sleet mixing in. Means the upper atmosphere is colder than the models have progged up to this point. If we can get a heavier burst of rain then the dynamic cooling should help bring temps down and cause a transition to snow a lot sooner. With winds currently coming out of the Nort, we shouldn’t have to worry about temps rising. Guess I’ll just sit back and wait to see what this bad boy does. Good luck everyone.
Foggy…35* in Morgan County…Hazy fog…winds light to none….
Mitch is morgan co still in the game?
37* here 7miles east of downtown Somerset. Heavy rain and we have many spots where water is overflowing across the road. Becareful if you are in this area.
Rain here in Pikeville coming down pretty good my temp is 39 degrees I hope it continues to fall!!!!
35* with rain here about 2 miles north of Burnside. We have had sleet mixing in from time to time, as well. right now, though, it is mostly rain. We had sleet mixing in earlier. Lots of water standing on the roads, and running through the drain right now here, too.
hardest rain of the day out there atm

…MESOSCALE UPDATE…
AFTER WATCHING EVENT UNFOLD WE ARE BEGINNING TO THINK THAT FREEZING
RAIN MAY BE MORE OF A THREAT… AT LEAST INITIALLY… FOR AREAS
ALONG AND NORTH OF THE MOUNTAIN PARKWAY. TEMPERATURES HERE AT THE
OFFICE AND POINTS NORTH ARE HOOVERING NEAR 32F WITH RAIN DEVELOPING.
LAPS DATA AND SPC RUC BASED MESOANALYSIS TOOL SHOWS WARM NOSE ALOFT
EXPANDING AS 850 MB LOW TRACKS TO OUR SOUTH ACROSS TENNESSEE. RAIN
WAS STILL FALLING OVER WESTERN KENTUCKY UNTIL JUST RECENTLY WHEN
SOME SLEET BEGAN TO MIX IN AND WARM NOSE MAY BE JUST WARM ENOUGH TO
KEEP PRECIP LIQUID UNTIL 850 MB LOW PASSES BY AND COLD ADVECTION
BEGINS ALOFT THIS EVENING. THIS MAY PROVE TO BE GOOD NEWS IN A WAY
AS IT MAY KEEP SNOWFALL TOTALS DOWN SOME. WILL CONTINUE TO MONITOR
BUT NO CHANGES TO ONGOING FORECAST OR SNOW AMOUNTS AT THIS TIME.
LoL may need a flood watch soon if this keeps up
Lexington – Hamburg Area
32.1 Degrees on my digital outdoor thermometer. Nothing falling from the sky. Radar shows us right in the middle of the blob…must be virga. No meaningful precipitation at all, so far today. Where is the precipitation?
our heaviest rain just passed here. High water in many places over here. My yard is flooded. Many streams and creeks up here as well.
Nope. You’ll be lucky to see more than an inch.
LOTS OF RAIN ALL DAY HERE IN CAMPBELLSVILLE TEMP IS 35 AND RAIN HAS SLACKED OFF BUT LOTS OF STANDING WATER IN FIELDS AND DITCHES RUNNING FULL……IF HAD BEEN ALL SNOW WE’D ALREADY BE HALF OF FOOT IF IF IF IF IF IF IF IF IF
In NW Woodford Co., it’s 34 degrees and no precipitation falling yet. It was 35 degrees at 7 am, then fell to 32 degrees during the morning and now has risen back to 34 degrees. Should be an interesting day!
FOLKS look at prcip moveing east basically, that wasnt the track with the models.
im telling ya tonite when this get on eastward we going to see a NICE BAND OF SNOW SET UP in SE/EAST KY.
cause it will be churning and once we get on the other side pull cold air in, the WRAP AROUND should be good. UNLESS IT DRIES UP, but from all accounts it going to CRANK.
might end up with some good snow yet.
best snows i ever saw had a period of moderate to heavy rain before hand.
starting a sleet/rain mix now…temp at 34
Reposting my comment from yesterday because it’s an even better chance now:
JR in Morehead wrote 3:30p.m. 2/27/09:
This is similiar to the 96 storm set-up. Gulf moisture with artic cold, get hit once then wraps back around and smacks us twice.
Looks impressive on radar, but not a drop or flake to speak of in Wilmore.
Rolo, can i have some of that snow for morgan co PLEASE…..
I don’t like your answer can I have Mitch please…. just kidding…
Rain has slacked off a bit for now. My rain gauge is showing over 1 1/2 inches of rain so far, and water is standing everywhere. It is getting colder here, too. the winds are out of the ENE.
Radar showing pink in my area, nothing falling to the ground. The winds have been terrible since about 8AM this morning. Temps sitting on 32. JR, I do hope that you are correct….sure would love one good snow. Keep the ice away please!
Well it is cold enough. I still just don’t see much precip making it to the Frankfort area. Or Lex for that matter.
dry as a bone in lex 🙁
Ok it is getting close to time to leave. What time do you all think the ice and/or snow will reach the Cumberland Falls area? I have a 5pm wedding with reception following. What time frame are we looking at? Any thoughts???
Nice verga storm here in Gtown. I hope nothing falls from the sky, the road departments are not ready.
Well I just got home and down here we have had over 1″ of rain and the creeks and streams are high and some out of their banks…still about 38* moisture looks to be moving to the north outta this area at least for the time being, I’m beginning to think flooding is gonna be more of an issue down here than any kind of winter weather.
Leestown rd – Lex – 32.2 and NOTHING
Strong NE wind and not a drop of anything all day here in North Richmond. Temps have climbed too.
Tommy have you quit with your blog man
Bubba G i am downtown Richmond and i have 32.1 * here i dont see where temp is rising
Rain really coming down now in Pikeville temp 38 degrees.
Hello everyone..!!
Our storm is not what we wanted, so lets all give our predictions on the game today..!!
LSU-84
CATS–70
I know, I hate to type that, but it looks like the players have given up on this coach, and really, who can blame them..?? I hope Meeks goes for 40+, ’cause UK needs to have another AA to help us in recruiting…
I hope and pray I’m wrong on the score and the CATS make me eat my words…!!!
GO CATS….
…
Hi, everyone! Hope you’re having a great day!:)
33°/cold blustery wind here in Bardstown/Nelson Co. near MOKH). Nothing here precipity yet, but looks like it’s on it’s way coming NE from around the Evansville/BG area. NWS/LMK has out Special Weather statement concerning it. I bet we will all get a surprise w/ this one!?;)
Crystal-I told you before, but got moderated..lol..CONGRATS! on your new kitty!
1-4ish
Not a drop of anything so far, so ignore the radar. I’ve been in the pink for hours. Don’t have a thermometer but cold and gusty winds from the NE.
i hope it will be better than that but i’m not hopeful however vegas is with ky as a 1.5 pt favorite.
ruc has a snowband along the blugrass pkwy coutnies later today.
Retracting last post…
32°/Lt. Sleet in Bardstown now!
You go girl..!!!
…
snow at ft.knox and louisville.
Mitch what is this storm doing is it ba go or is it a wimp?
I’d say your score prediction is accurate. 70 for UK maybe a little high.
I’ll go with:
LSU – 80
UK – 65
Talk about depressing…I just read where parts of northern GA. could see isolated spots of 18″ of snow !!!!!!!!!!…how wrong is that!! while here we are I’m having flooding rains…some of you are having a verga storm!!!!…just wrong, wrong, wrong!!
a general 4-8″ will spread across the states of miss. al. and Ga. …:(..what are we doing wrong…

snowing in lou. and owensboro..so maybe thats where the accum. will be.. by looking at the current radar trends…i cant see HOW in the world were gonna get any accum. snow down here.
Still dry here in Nicholasville! For what it is worth, GO CATS!
Here is the Map for wymt.com
http://www.wkyt.com/weatherradars/misc/3708536.html
I know where you’re coming from Tim. I’m thinking its about time to pull the ole paddle boat out, seeming is all we can get here is a heavy cold rain. I’m still keeping my fingers crossed for later (if they don’t turn blue and fall off because I’ve crossed them so hard to cut the circulation off in them) we’ll see though
Just changing over to BIG wet flakes! I’m still thinking this might work out…;)
*********AMBER ALERT************
a girl from frankfort area…see local amber alert for detailed information
Wild- it is around 38 degrees here on Mockingbird.
Not a thing falling yet in the big city of Richmond.
it looks like p[recip is trying to get more orgainsed for areas such as danville campbelsville and lexington verga should give way to precip in the next hour. hvy rain will move east over the next hour se.
the main action will delevop overhead later this afternoon and tonight.
Debbie where are you at,location wise?
Hang in there Tim, once the Upper Level Low moves in watch out! I’ve got totals map up on my blog.
Is Lexington reporting Snow?
Sitting right on the Rowan Co/Fleming Co. Line right outside Morehead, temp 33, no precip whatsoever actually coming down, but looks heavy on the screen. So really what is the deal?? Why is this one so hard to forecast, I noticed Chris took his initial snow totals map, does that mean he thinks it has changed considerably?
wish i could tell ya but dunno its quit doing stuff here and temps continue to be between 38 and 40
nevermind, scrolled up and found you
Tim, I’m in Bardstown(Nelson Co.) right across from My Old Ky. Home. It’s looking better with every look out my window!
Here’s hoping you’ll get in on it, too, because I know how badly you’re wanting it!:)
Anyone think they will post a heavy snow warning or watch? Now that is something to I might get excited about ha.
thanks shane!
Well found out the hard way that the ground is still frozen beneath the surface
There will eventually be snow with this snowstorm, right?
thanks deb. good luck on your snow totals too.
30* here in Richmond Ky and sleet is starting to hit m windows here downtown @ 3:15pm
Also tim where did u see that AMBER ALERT????
Andy Rose…..I have a friend who is in Knox tonight and wants to go out….I called her and told her not to but she swears there’s not going to be any bad weather there! Keep me posted so I can call and fuss at her all night!!!!
Really cold drizzle now in Powell Co.
No precipitation at all in the Hamburg area of Lexington yet today. Temps rose at my house from 32.1 to 33 degrees as of now.
very light sleet and frz rain in versailles. 31*
We need it as badly as you guys S. of us, Tim. Everyone thinks we get hit every time, but that’s not the case! They could put out Heavy Snow Warnings all around us, and we’d STILL be in the “donut hole”….lol!;)(Or we’d get 3” of ICE)

.SHORT TERM…/TONIGHT AND SUNDAY/…UPDATED
INITIAL AREA OF PRECIP FALLING LARGELY IN THE FORM OF RAIN IS
SHIFTING EAST ACROSS SOUTHEAST KENTUCKY AT THIS TIME. TO OUR WEST…
ANOTHER AREA OF PRECIP IS EXPANDING IN COVERAGE AS UPPER LOW SWINGS
INTO THE PICTURE AND UPPER LEVEL DIVERGENCE INCREASES. WHILE SOME
SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN IS OCCURRING ON THE NORTHERN EDGE OF THE
PRECIP… LITTLE IF ANY SNOW IS OCCURRING YET. IN FACT… LITTLE IF
ANY PRECIP HAS OCCURRED FOR OUR NORTHWEST COUNTIES. UPSTREAM OBS
SHOW SNOW MIXING IN WITH THE PRECIP OVER THE WESTERN AND CENTRAL
PART OF THE STATE. THIS IS OCCURRING AS COLD ADVECTION BEGINS ALOFT
IN RESPONSE TO BACKING WINDS AS THE 850 MB LOW SKIRTS BY TO THE
SOUTH. PRECIP SHOULD FILL BACK IN OVER THE AREA LATER THIS AFTERNOON
AND EVENING. THE TREND OF COOLING TEMPS ALOFT AND SNOW MIXING IN
WITH THE RAIN WILL CONTINUE TO ADVANCE SOUTHEAST LATE THIS AFTERNOON
AND EVENING AS WELL WITH PRECIP GOING OVER TO ALL SNOW FROM
NORTHWEST TO SOUTHEAST DURING THE EVENING HOURS.
FORECAST SNOW/ICE ACCUMULATIONS AND CURRENT ADVISORY WILL BE LEFT
LARGELY IN TACK AND UNCHANGED. WILL TWEAK EXPECTED SNOWFALL AMOUNTS
A BIT… OPENING UP THE RANGES AS BANDED NATURE OF PRECIP WILL ALLOW
SOME LOCATIONS TO SQUEAK OUT 4 INCHES WHILE OTHERS MAY NOT GET AN
INCH. WILL ALSO EXTEND THE TIME OF THE ADVISORY FOR OUR TENNESSEE
AND VIRGINIA BORDER COUNTIES UNTIL NOON ON SUNDAY AS LATEST GUIDANCE
INDICATES THAT THE BACK EDGE OF THE SNOW WILL LINGER A TAD LONGER
FOR THOSE AREAS… WITH AN ADDITIONAL INCH POSSIBLE AFTER DAWN ON
SUNDAY.
GENERALLY PREFERRED THE WARMER GFS MOS GUIDANCE TONIGHT BUT
CONTINUED TO LEAN COLDER THAN GUIDANCE FOR SUNDAY… ESPECIALLY FOR
SOUTHEAST KENTUCKY WHERE MORE CLOUD COVER SHOULD KEEP TEMPS BURIED
IN THE 30S.
I would expect IF there was going to be heavy snow, we would see some warnings given that it is basically “now”.
Unless weather people are now forecasting based on when already falling 😉
This puppy has mix & light snow written all over it. 1″ to 4″ as thought.
Barely starting to “spit” a little snow in Mercer County
I’ve seen a few flakes (and I do mean just a FEW) at my Lexington house between Hamburg and Richmond Road. I am hoping for a lot (and I do mean a LOT) more!
it came across my noaa radio
rain mixing with snow, 36 degrees in southern Pike.
kk
new MODELSD says NO, still to far east..
no more shift from previous run.
you forget some people prefer to wait till it gets worse or bad before putting any warning or advisory out
Which models are you looking at?
Yep, but that is not forecasting and warning- that is reporting news 😉
*winter weather adv. til noon sund. for
knox, whitle, pulaski, laurel,McCreary….new forecast coming across the noaa radio from Jkl…all this mess to change to snow tonight 1-2″, 1″ additional tom. snowfall totals 1-4″ by sunday, some locally higher amounts poss.
I am a little curious myself, because the ones that I am looking at has a lot of moisture sticking around East KY through midday Sunday.
Chris we really need a little comment….
Now Jackson has expanded weather advisory till 12 pm Sunday with only 1-2inches expected only
I got sleet here in lexinton. The north side off newtown pike.
Hey guys!
Nothing new to report… ready to watch the games with some of my buddies now! 🙂 A man has to have a little fun on a weekend. 😉
I will update shortly after the game.
Take care.
and we can do that ourselves so whats the point if they wait till its to late kwim ?
you have to excuse rolo he hasn’t decided what it will do yet in a few hrs he will be back onboard
Tina that is for tonight with an additional 1″+ tomorrow.total snow accum. 1-4″.lets hope it tops the upper end of that . highly unlikely but we can hope…:)
Chris said nothing news to report
Wonder what that mena.
I would say that means he is sticking with what he posted last night and this morning.
I sure hope you don’t post again until after 6:00. If it’s before then that will mean our Cats are playing like they played against SC.
Just began to just barely snow here at Clay’s Mill in Lexington. One of those…have to look at the trees or an object to see it.
well I dont know whats worse, a pitiful ballgame…or this pitiful weather….:(
Hopefully this game will be a winner, cause I doubt the weather will…LOL…
I sure hope your right. Our luck we’ll just get 1″. only if it had been colder this morning we could of been digging out of a foot of snow. Big dreams huh! Well I’ll get to watch it unfold tonight while I’m at work. Hoping for 4+++
Light rain falling again
ummmm exactly what he said Nessa nothing has changed his outlook since this morning
That is my point- either the do not expect a heavy snow out of this or they are waiting til it starts falling.
Funny and sad either way 😉
First flake falling in Paris!
Still no snow in Millville area. We had a little bout of sleet earlier, then it quit. Dry and 33 degrees. GO CATS!
funny till somebody gets hurt then its sad like everything else lol
Wow- people here are excited over the chance of an inch or two of snow and mix (it will not be much more than that).
Just like UK basketball our snow expectations have hit rock bottom. How the mighty fall. 🙁 😉
Light sleet in West Liberty-Morgan County temp says 38-but it seems much colder
Starting to get some sleet, freezing rain, and a few flurries here in Lewis County. JR, anything in Morehead yet?
I thought that the upper low was gonna go to our south, and miss us? now if I understand correctly the upper low is whats gonna bring our snow later?…oh well shane, you or mitch if you gotta minute, explain please…you can watch the game and type at the same time…lol….i am…lol…
Starting to sleet here in western Franklin Co. Temp is 34.
Flakes have disappeared in Paris!
snow and sleet mix picking up in versailles.
Sleet has finally started to fall here at my house out on Black Creek Road in Clay City.
Well, we got a few flurries about an hour ago, and that has been all here in Jessamine!
So far this storm has been a joke here. Still not a thing has fallen from the sky although the radar states the contrary. Oh well, yet another non-event.
you have fallen
I just saw something interesting on the watch/warning map in Western KY at this hour – bubbleland in Fulton Co., is under an advisory, but is completely surrounded by warnings! Very strange to see.
no ANDY, the NAM said still to east. i mean i can lad u to water but i cant make u drink.
my own thoughts was the upper low look to be moving more north than models showing, but models sticking with their track.
KEVIN GALLOWAY IS A STUD AND BILLY MUD DRUNK GILLPISE STILL WANT PLAY HIM, KID NEED TO BE GETTING 30 MIN A GAME.
36° and light sprinkling rain in south central Laurel County.
What were you expecting up to this point???
Just started sleeting here in Grayson, ky Carter County…
34* here. sprinkiling.
Verga turned to sleet about half an hour ago, now covering the deck. Temp has dropped to 32. Just a gloomy ole day in the holler!
Still does not make it any less sad. As the Cats get man handled due to Coach Squiggies coachin’ skillz we will all look in wonder at our 1″ to 2″ mix ;). Far east should still get up to 4″, but most to the west should be 1″ to 2″.
98 was sweet- big snow AND big Cats!
Memories, like the corners of my mind…
Chris: It is sleeting and spitting snow here in Georgetown. It started about 30 minutes ago. We sure miss seeing you on the news!
Dottie
him and rolo been hanging out this weekend 😉
well snow appears to be wraping into west tn. just wonder how far east this will get
Well….it started snowing so you could see it pretty good….now it’s sleeting.
The Cats are trying, so have to applaud that. Not their fault about who is leading them. One day it will get better.
Point about the weather is that three years ago we were only pumped for big snow chances and now we have fallen to much lower expectations.
We can not deny that both our snow results and Cats performance appear to correlate in the same trend downward.
misting light rain and 34 degrees, in downtown Pikeville.
Cats are playing with HEART and PASSION in the second half. Whatever happens from this point in the game- they have showed the good stuff again 🙂
Nothing falling from the sky in Richmond yet.
It is light rain here in Letcher Co.
Ice rain in Richmond. Why does that not surprise me?

… WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 12 PM EST SUNDAY…
THE WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 12 PM EST SUNDAY.
PERIODS OF RAIN WILL CONTINUE ACROSS THE AREA THIS EVENING… GRADUALLY MIXING WITH AND CHANGING OVER TO SNOW OVERNIGHT. THERE MAY ALSO BE A PERIOD OF SLEET OR FREEZING RAIN BEFORE THE PRECIPITATION CHANGES OVER TO SNOW. THE SNOW WILL THEN GRADUALLY DIMINISH SUNDAY MORNING.
AT THIS TIME… 1 TO 2 INCHES OF WET SNOW AND SLEET IS EXPECTED BY SUNDAY MORNING WITH A TENTH OF AN INCH OF ICING FROM FREEZING RAIN ALSO EXPECTED. AN ADDITIONAL INCH OF SNOW IS THEN EXPECTED SUNDAY MORNING BRINGING TOTAL SNOWFALL AMOUNTS TO 1 TO 3 INCHES.
A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW… SLEET… OR FREEZING RAIN WILL CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SLIPPERY ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES… AND USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING.
More Information
… WINTRY WEATHER EXPECTED TONIGHT…
.A STORM SYSTEM WILL CONTINUE TO DEVELOP OVER THE SOUTHEAST UNITED STATES TONIGHT SPREADING A MIXTURE OF RAIN… SNOW… SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN INTO THE AREA. THE PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED TO CHANGE TO ALL SNOW OVERNIGHT. THE SNOW SHOULD BEGIN TO TAPER OFF BY SUNDAY MORNING AS THE STORM SYSTEM MOVES AWAY FROM THE AREA UP THE EAST COAST.
Well, as is the norm here…the snow quit, then the heavy “sleet storm” came, and thus, the nice coating of ice on every walking surface…but there’s some nice ominous snow clouds coming in from the south & west, looks like, sooo…after dark…as always!
And I still think Billy G. reminds me of a coked-up Tom Arnold. Does anyone else here get dizzy during his interviews??!
LOL TO TRUE WAS PUMPED ALSO LAST YR ABOUT A SUPPOSED WINTER STORM AND ACTUALLY HAD A WARNING BUT ENDED UP WITH A WHOPPIN 2 INCHES
What do you weather gurus suspect the roads will be like from 10 pm to about 1am between Lexington and Louisville? I have to go over and pick up relatives at the Louisville airport……
I give up one min i look out and its sleeting the next i look out and its snowing and now i look out and nothing but we are still in the pink on the radar lol I H8 Radar SNOW!!!!!!
SORRY BUBBAG
I just dont see it happening , it might but I’m not seeing it…
It is 28* and misting a little rain here in Garrard County. Husband has hard jaws over the game.
*smack* QUIT DRINKING ROLO’S HOOCH 😉
I think its time for a new season and sport!!!! because winter and basketball in ky. just literally sucks anymore.PERIOD!!…time for spring and baseball…
UM, ITS REALLY snowing in Lexington!
Doesn’t look like we’re gonna get ANYTHING at all out of this puppy other than a few flurries or light freezing rain. It figures that the deep south would get their SECOND major snowstorm of the season, while our snow drought continues…
starting to change in laurel county to sleet
NE BOYLE COUNTY: Sleet and 31*
Been working all day so I gotta catch up on whats all been said.
Meanwhile my updated thoughts that might get blown out of the water http://mjhdp.tripod.com/stormtracker/id17.html
WTH??
Coach Squiggy puts Stewart in COLD at the end of the game, Stewart blows the coverage for a three and Coach Squiggy freak out on him- I wonder if Coach Squiggy will change his mind now?
The Cats almost one in SPITE of their fearless leader.
Here is Coach Squiggy before he got the Cats gig: He has some serious singing chops 🙂

Freezing rain in Clay county at the moment! Be careful out there folks!
31 degrees and heavy freezing rain/sleet in southern Lexington. After about 20 minutes of it, my car was covered in a sheet of ice. Roads are just wet though.
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! 1 MORE GAME CLOSER TILL WE GET A NEW COACH AFTER NEXT SEASON, UNLESS BILLY RESIGNS.
we bulit a 10 point lead with galloway on point, then bill G takes him off point and put on the 2 G, lol
the SMARTEST COACH IN BB, NOTTTTTTTTTT
BILLY G at the last vandy game put HARRELSON IN BATHROOM STALL at halftime. made him stay there till 2nd half startted.
TRUE STORY.
HE SHOULD WENT OFF ON AJ STEWART, HE GOT LOST, NOTHING MORE U CAN SAY.
I’m in Northwestern Clay Co. very close to the Clay/Jackson line. We have light sleet tapping on our windows. (I’d much rather have snow) 🙂
no snow on the SW side of Lexington. There were about 8 flakes a few hours ago, and since then only periods of sleet.
Icy outside here north of Hazard. No snow yet, though.
You are real close to me bet I could holler and you would hear me.
kyt has changed snowfall totals but not much the 3-6 area shrunk just a bit and changed to 3-4 but is same every where else
Neil?
Their 2nd? My dad lives in western NC and they have had ZILCH in Brevard. I take that back, I think he said they got like a half inch a while back.
We got a quick 1/2″ or less in NW Lex, now we keep getting waves of sleet.
Andy Rose wat was laurel county in
HARRODSBURG RD. @ WALLER AVE. 6:28PM EXTENSIVE ICING……..FREEZING RAIN/SLEET. ROADS WILL BECOME HAZARDOUS, LIGHT ICE ACM. WILL MAKE DRIVING VERY HAZARDOUS. ALREADY ICE COVERED ROOF TOPS GRASSY AREAS AND BUSHES. BE CAREFUL!!!!
On what side of town? It is freezing rain here (Clay’s Mill)….my front porch looks like a month ago and how that started….oh…I hope we don’t get that.
Jeannine Edwards does!!!
Freezing rain and sleet in Jessamine county….cars are covered with ice.
Can someone explain the verga? We’ve been pink or blue for hours, but almost nothing falling. It evaporates, why? Can you tell that it is going to do that?
Looks like all roads lead to Bubba, since my estimate was 1″ to 4″ 🙂
Al we have gotten so far is a liiitle’ bit of ice rain and that is it. As expected, the heavier stuff is using us as a guide rail and going to go south and then east- right past us.
What is the count? GA & TN have gotten at least eight major snows in the past eleven years and non-north KY has gotten the big goose egg.
3-4 still i think
Funny- “Verga” has a very rude slang meaning in Spain 😉
so does his update mean the snow totals are the same
I’m talking about Mississippi/Alabama area which are indeed in the deep south and MS in particular had an 8″ snowfall back in December…
Now it’s 28* and the rain has changed to sleet.
UK basketball STINKS! I’m sick and tired of this garbage…. We may never see them atop the basketball world again
Was wondering the same thing. Is Whitley County still in the 3-6 range or are we looking at 1-3 or nothing. Any input would be appreciated. Have kids traveling back to college tomorrow.
they removed the 4-6 and replaced it with 3-4 and narrowed the zone Whitley is still slated to get 2-4 according to kyt
went over to all sleet after the cats loss. wtach out for slick spots even in the areas with no adv’s.
The 6 o’clock weather showed Laurel County in the 2-4″ range now. Clay county is in the 3-4″.
Thanks Andy for answering. I guess we will all just have to wait and see if we are more on the 2 or 4 side. I love snow, but I think I’m ready for spring. Too much disappointment this year.
HURRICANE HUNTERS have been flyin into storm.
last run of models had info from them. and the 00 defintly will have a better grasp on it, folks a slight shift w/nw can bring on a suprise.
Pretty pathetic to turn on TWC and see footage of heavy snowfall in the Memphis area…grrrr!;(
STILL 32° and FRZ RN/Sleet in Bardstown…don’t know about the highways yet, but if they’re like my back deck & front walkway, it’s time to break out the ice skates once again! Be careful everyone!
Doing nothing in berea, has been sprinkling on and off, feels very cold, but still nothing. Waiting to see what happens!
Nada here in Corbin!
Where bouts are you in relation to the old blue bridge?
F5 http://mjhdp.tripod.com/stormtracker/id17.html
well it ben fun to track if nothingelse………………………………………………
VINNY we finihed 2nd, couldnt get to winner.
well my boys are here, going to hack a few roosters and gamble some. see ya in a few.
HEY COACH BAILEY. NOT weatherman but COACH. YOU ARE CORRECT. THE PEOBLEM WAS FIXED FOR ABOUT TEN MINUTES IN THE SECOND HALF.
MAYBE YOU SHOULD BE THE ONE WITHOUT A CONTRACT MAKING 2+ MILLION A YEAR.
HARRIS SHOULD NEVER SEE THE FLOOR.
It has been sleeting/freezing rain for over an hour. I in SE Lexington. Our chain link fence already has a good coating. Slick on our drive way too.
.4 in sleet in versailles this getting to ready outrageous there’s been no winter weather adv for the counties which have been under that band for the past few hours. roads, driveways and all surfaces are now ice covered and it is very slick. and they can see the band has moved very little in the past few hours i’m sure they can see this at lmk
here’s there terminology for adv’s
this is would require a sleet adv.
Issued for expected sleet accumulations of less than 1/2 inch.
WE ALREADY AHVE THAT IN THE AREAS UNDER THE BAND
there terminology for a winter weather adv
Used when a mixture of precipitation is expected such as snow, sleet, and freezing rain or freezing drizzle, but will not reach warning criteria.
MOST OF US HAVE SEEN THAT
get with it lmk.
Rolo:
You got a derby pony yet..??
…
Anyone know what is supposed to play out in Berea? I missed the evening news.
Sleeting very hard in Carter County at the moment… Sidewalks, vehicles and roads beginning to get covered..
in there defense
…PERIODS OF SLEET AND SNOW…
A MIX OF SNOW AND SLEET WILL CONTINUE OVER MUCH OF NORTH CENTRAL
AND EAST CENTRAL KENTUCKY THIS EVENING…WITH THE MIX BECOMING ALL
SNOW AFTER 7 PM EST.
TEMPERATURES WILL FALL INTO THE MID AND UPPER 20S AND SNOW WILL
BEGIN TO COVER ROADWAYS…RESULTING IN SLICK HIGHWAYS THAT ARE NOT
TREATED. SNOW WILL ACCUMULATE TO LESS THAN 1 INCH WITH SOME
LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS…ESPECIALLY ACROSS THE NORTHERN BLUEGRASS
REGION WHERE TEMPS ARE COLDEST AND SNOW WILL BE MODERATELY HEAVY
AT TIMES.
but look at the defintion for an adv again.
the general population does not get sws’s they get adv’s chris has said this many times
roads are geeting slicker and more dangerous by the minute.
It is after 7pm and it is all ICE here in north Richmond- no snow- zip, zilch.
We won’t be at the top of the basketball world with Billy G as our coach. this guys should be coaching Div2 or something. Mitch, what were you thinking two years ago? Were you that desperate??
Well, folks, after getting heavy rain all stinkin day, now we have cloudy skies and a little drizzle.
Temp is at 34. In southern KY…..
THE DOME LIVES!!!!! Hahahahahahahaha!
Nothing but a little very light rain down here on the border and temp still at 35*..I am going with you Tim….I am afraid it might be over before it started for us….But I sure hope we are wrong!!!
sleeting here in gunnchester ky.
aka MANCHESTER.
got 32 degrees.
dang it…
This dang sleet/FRZ Rain been cutting down my snow totals for 11 years now…
Bring on spring..!!!
…
AS of 8pm along route 770 cloudy and 32F. Looks very pathetic for snow right now unless your in Western Tennessee or in the deep south.
Hey rolo….. Update me on the forecast..
YEA VINNY, I LOVE DUNKIRK.
rare to see a horse 2nd time out, and first at a route go 8 wide into turn at GULF and win like he did. 2ND TIME OUT. Like the angle train up to FLA DERBY, win and u got earnings.
PLETCHER has this horse fit and will only get better.
it has been since 1882 that a horse with no 2 year old foundations has ever won the derby. APOLLO i think it was.
Been sleeting (or freezing rain) here for awhile in Frankfort. Roads are slick. As far as I know we are under no warnings or anything????
the national weather service forecast graphics shows the heaviest snow from 1-4 am and it looks like the radar is building with moisture
Rolo,
At first I thought you was from Winchester since Winchester is a GUN and could be Gunchester. Anyway Trapped from Trapp has Freezing rain.
Sleeting in the Millville area for the past hour. Our deck and fence are glistening again, which makes my stomach sink. I hate ice! We can hear it ping on the carport roof. It’s windier tonight than it was last month and the sleet is very, very fine.
Just started snowing in Corbin!!! Bring it on 🙂
It’s windier tonight than it was during last month’s ice storm, though, and the sleet is very, very fine.
I tell you folks what….when the UK men’s basketball coach gets more pub on a weather site chat room, that coach is somewhere sweating bullets. Hot Seat…yeah, you could say that. if this guys jobs isn’t in jeopardy, then we are doomed for 2 to 3 more years of this sorry excuse for coaching
drizzle and 33* here
looks like the snow will not explode like I thought…oh well… atleast we still have UK basketball!
Isnt it odd how the areas of most precip have no advisory and areas with advisory have not much precip.
Ice on the deck and sidewalk.
First a little snow, then a little sleet, now a little freezing drizzle in NW LEX.
:/
Well after heavy cold rain all day it has finally gotten cold enough to snow in pulaski co:) Problem is when the cold air pushed in the moisture moved out:( Where have we seen that before?
Andy Rose—-what’s it doing your way….my friend called from down there about an hour ago making fun of me for warning her about bad weather!
Well the radar sez something should be comin’ down, but nuthin’. So I was expecting.
what you think of “Beethoven”
I think he’s a sleeper…
He had a bad trip in the Holly Bull, but still was trying hard at the end… Going that wide in the first turn took everything out of him, IMO…
…
may as well be nothing looks like drizzle with really fine snow maybe starting to mix in
The moderation police are working, lol. I hope this goes thru .
Memphis snowcam http://www.tdot.state.tn.us/cctv/cctvmemp/CCTV_86.asp
It is still Sleet in Letcher Co.
I looked by the light on my back deck. Something is falling, but it’s not snow. More freezing rain I think. I’m just north of Hazard.
A——MEN sister..!!!
…
Sleeting and rain, snizzle i guess in Pikeville temp 34 degrees.I hope we change over soon to snow.I have been out all evening wild out there.
Chris I gave the ladies at the drug store your web site they wrote it down because they were wondering what the weather was going to be doing and I told them your site can not be beat. They remembered you from wkyt.We may have some new posters if so welcome ladies.
Heh…pretty soon we’re gonna have to throw LMK in the same classification as Billy G….I won’t say what that is in MY terminology, but you get the gist of it 🙂
Sleet/Frz.Rn showing no signs of slowing here, nor changing to snow here in Bardstown. I just stepped out and it appears to be getting heavier, and the winds are a lot gustier than before, as well.I’m not liking the looks of this too much at all!?:(
Amazing and we have to beg for every snow flake lol!!!!
But who did he beat? And Pletcher is a loser. Always a bridesmaid but never a bride.
I’m actually close to the Kennedy Bridge.
Crystal, I agree. I come here all the time to get the weather, especially if we are expecting any kind of bad weather. Chris is right on!
read above for my commenrts on that if your interested.
THanks! Keep me posted of any changes if you can!
Misty drizzle in Berea, I wished there was something worth posting! 🙂
Just snizzle here in East Bernstadt.
Bring on Spring! 😉
Ice pellets have been hitting the windows here in Lewis Co. for the past hour.
the last couple radar frames shows snow back building in and around bowling green now the MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION is . will it make back in to central and eastern ky?????
BETOVEN finshed 3rd today in FOY.
I feel the same way, Bernie. 🙂
Icy outside, but no snow yet. If we get the snow on top of this ice, all I can say is BE CAREFUL!
Nothing now in Richmond but a very light freezing rain and have yet to see a flake today, other than a certain coach. Is this system goin’ bustolla?
alot of moisture developing into central tn, and looks like maybe its trying to fill in into east ky and southern ky…HOPEFULLY!!
Beginning to think there’s a snowdome over Clay Co. We’ve had barely more than a little bit of sleet this evening…
massive dry slot is getting some of you areas north of 1-64 east of lex will cotninue to see frz rain and sleet through midnight with accums of ice. the back edge band from dry ridge to shelbyville to e-town is expected to move very slowly on the lastest ruc run lasting several hours this will be our snow producer tonight if you’re se of this band still expect at least an inch of snow. roads are getting icy stay safe folks.
Hi Bernie I miss ya neighbor!!! Looks like snow is mixing in now with my snizzle 34 degrees in Pikeville.

Big kudos to the NWS for NOT getting excited about this one.
HOUSTON WE HAVE SNOW FALLING IN PIKEVILLE WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
TEMP 34
Did I mention IT IS SNOWING IN PIKEVILLE
WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Time for another Martini my night cap
It is still Sleeting in Letcher Co.
33*(feels colder) here in Morgan County…light to heavy sleet has coated cars, bird feeders, mailboxes, etc., but travel was easy for us a of 9PM.
Folks, I am sensing a miss with most of this system:
1) The timing keeps getting pushed out to when the snow starts for most. That is a trend.
2) It was supposed to be late afternoon, then evening and now early morning
3) CB said himself that it would be less snow the later it starts
I am sensing a big bustolla on this one or best case an inch or two for all accept far east- SE in KY (maybe still several inches- maybe).
Is it sticking Crystal? I’m too cozy under this blanket to get up and look! How sad is that?????
Something of interest over the last few hours. The center of the southern storm was over nw S.C. at 1008mb about 4pm or so and at 8pm the central pressure has risen to 1010mb and drifted almost right over central Ga.
Help me out here folks, now that would seem to put less moisture into Ky. and also hint that this eastern storm is not going to strengthen? Strengthening would mean better chances for higher snow totals in Ky?
Just laying a little on the top of the cars no where else.
It is sleeting here in Ravenna. More than has fallen in the last few hours. The temp is 34 on the old front porch. Is this going to be another “almost” a big one?
I too live in Letcher County (Isom)…which part of the county are you in?
Oh no now it is trying to turn back to sleet noooooo

Actually I think I misspoke. Its more like that storm is forming over central Ga. but the pressures are up some.
Very light sleet in morgan co….
I’ve just got one thing to say (from London)–if anyone says the word “snow” in front of me the rest of the year, I am not responsible for my actions. I’m mad!
Spitting tiny ice chunks, like granular sleet, steady for about 30 minutes, hard the last five. Whole world sounds like static on the radio. Temp was 28 according to the car, the wind and wet make it feel really cold.
Not a thing happening here in East Bernstadt now. NWS still calling for 1-3″ for this area tonight but honestly, I am beginning to think that’s probably overdoing it [quite] a bit.
If anyone wants to chat [or co-miserate], Freaksters is open…
http://www.freaksters.com
it isnt doing anything in Letcher Co. now.
Berea………..Nothing! Im going to be up all night, staring out my window, hoping snow magically appears!!! LoL, Good luck to everyone, hope everyone gets a little!
pouring the snow. sticking. 32*. about 1/2 inch on the ground.
Are you at coon creek?
TWC…reporting….5″ in Memphis.. a town called stanton between memphis and jackson tn…reporting a whopping 8″!!!
I LIED!! I just checked and its ICING!!!!! LoL I dont mean the yummy kind, it is SLICK on my porch and is coming down pretty good for now!
It’s 31 here in downtown Winchester, lightly sleeting at the moment. We’ve got a thin coating of ice on everything, plus some granular stuff crunching underfoot. No sign of flaky stuff as yet.
i still see it differently than the nws after there 9:45 discussion. the 02z ruc still looks about the same.
Freezing rain here in the western portion of Rowan County (Morehead)Decks covered in ice. Waiting for the big fluffy flakes.
