*****7PM UPDATE*****

Good evening gang! First off let me say this is not going to be a big update… your friendly weather dude is not so friendly right now after watching yet another UK game go down the toilet. You have a lineup to start the second half that causes a 20 point swing in the game to give your team A 10 point lead then you mess with that lineup? Incredible.

As far as the weather goes… just keep doing what you are doing and posting your weather. I apprecaite all you guys do for the blog. The setup remains the same… a swath of heavy, wet snow through the evening hours. There will be a sharp cutoff with this bad boy and radar will be our best friend tonight.

Again… sorry about the shortness of the post. But I am in a bad mood and need to blow off a little steam now.

Thanks again and take care.

PREVIOUS DISCUSSION

Good Saturday afternoon. I wanted to drop by with an all inclusive blog to track the rain and snow that is rolling across the state today. Things still appear to be on track for a swath of heavy, wet snow setting up somewhere across the area. Pinpointing where this sets up is a pain in the backside to say the least!

When dealing with these types of situations… you can put some smiles on some faces and can put frowns on others as we will likely see some fairly sharp cutoffs to the accumulating snows. Who smile and who frowns is an hour by hour process folks! By the way… that was a great mid morning update discussion from the NWS in Jackson! They sum up the forecasting headaches very well!

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY is out for the southern and eastern parts of the state…

Radar continues to show heavy amounts of precip working slowly from south to north…

What we should start seeing is  the precip shield run into an invisible wall across the far north later this afternoon. This will pile the air up and we will see the moisture get stretched out in more of an west to east fashion through the evening. Where that “stretching” occurs will be the area that can get heavy, wet snow.

Temps are colder than the models were forecasting across many areas with a lot of readings that have fallen off into the upper 20s and lower 30s.

Current Temps

Winds today are fairly gusty as well and are strong out of the north and northeast. That is one thing you look for in forecasting snow around here… a northeasterly wind!

I have added some area web cams to help track the rain and snow this afternoon…
