Good afternoon everyone. Our day is going as scripted so far as temps have soared toward 50 in a lot of areas under partly sunny skies. We are seeing a wall of rain and snow approaching from the west and this will overtake the state through the rest of the day and evening.
A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY is in effect through Sunday for much of eastern Kentucky…
I am a bit surprised some of the other offices have not issued an advisory for their areas.
Here is everything you need to track today’s crazy weather…

Thaks Chris! No precip of any kind in Versailles yet.
Another 50 degree day, woohoo! No snow accum. Because the ground is so warm probably.
sunny and temps. in the 50’s down here…the preverbial calm before the oncoming storm…that looks like its full of JUICE !!!!..question is do we see more rain than snow…still KINDA looks mostly wet out in west ky. but the temps are down in the upper 30s
you would think somebody around paducah should be seeing some HUGE wet snowflakes about now…
Those temps are dropping rapidly in West KY
Thanks for taking the time to update us, CB. I’m hangin’ with you on the forecast. I trust your weather knowledge.
idk if this is possible…. but. two counties to the west of LVille in about a 8 mile difference one place is 46 and one is 33
shawn the ground here in lawrenceburg is half frozen so i think will see accum. Just keep looking at that louisville cam eventually there will be snow on the ground. but i notice east ky is sunny with know clouds in lawrenceburg its been cloudy and windy all day
Adam it is possible, Looks like the temps are really starting to crash.
I know it’s possible, but that’s crazy should see snow on the LVille cam anytime now.
Temps in Versailles are 50.9 and the wind has really gotten wild!
is that rain or snow on that lou. cam??
Snow being officially reported at Paducah right now.
good question it looks yo bright to be rain so im gunna go with snow lol
well its about time…lol..its sure took its slow sweet time…lol…
Very windy and 55 in southern Pike Co. Ground is still frozen where the sun isn’t shining and the Cats up 8, Go Big Blue!!!
i have snow shower at 49 degrees people \NO LIE i promise this is very strange
looking at the radar, the back edge of the precip. looks to be at paducah shorty..
and interesting the last loop shows precip falling in frankfort and the lex. area as snow, while still showing up on radar as rain in lou….im sure the precip in the lex. and frankfort area is prob. verga….but it wont be for LONG !!!
I just got called by Matt Jones on Kentucky Sports radio haha

Rolo,
Dude you’re nuts, Matt Jones and his site is awesome. Had q and a with Seth Davis yesterday. He’s pretty on top of things UK bball and fball. Just my opninion and I respect yours as well.
Hi Evry1. Rain has just started here in Western Franklin Co. Well, it started about 45 mins ago. Light rain, but the winds have certainly picked up. 48 degrees.
Wet Snow falling in South Louisville as of 323 pm, been snowing for 20 minutes with temps in the mid 30’s… no accumulation yet.
Where are u in west franklin co.? I’m in the Heritage off Cardwell Ln.
rolo WILL GLADLY EAT HIS WORDS if BILLY G gets it done.
but 1 game doesnt make a career TIM.
56 degrees and sunny in gunchester..
will see a flake or 2 but that be it.
As of 4pm light wet snow falling and is now beginning to accumulate on grassy surfaces with temps right around 32F
Unless you live in far east KY or the north area of that, there will be little accumulation. Too warm now and the precip will not be around long enough with the cold air to make an impact for most.
It will come down for a while like a wall of white, but in the end- all bark and no bite.
for those of you wanting an early spring it doesn’t look good as thursday it will be warm with highs near 60 but with the usual price of strong storms. the gfs is off the trail a bit compared to the other models for next weekend, most of the guidence has a arctic high moving into the northern plains with ne flow leading to cold temps again by next weekend and maybe more snow next monday to ring in march.
as for today we’re still on track with a hour or two of rain then a few hours of snow with totals for the weekend including sunday around 1 maybe 2 and mostly on grass.
still on track today with a few hours of rain then a few hours of snow the ground at the lou site is covering up nicely for all of you skeptics out there. still sticking to an inch or two for the weekend which includes tommorow.
Unless 1″ to 2″ is a bite to you. Perhaps a chihuahua bite 🙂
Yep…and noticed on the I-75 cam the ground is starting to get white as well..
You gotta watch those darn chihuahua’s they pack a mean bite sometimes…lol
please people let chris the say what were going get if he says were going to get 1-3 I trust him !!

Jenn..what county is stamping ground in?
Started raining around 4pm in Mercer. I still say there will be more rain than snow. Whatever hits the ground as snow will melt. No accumulation.
C Mon snow, 1-3″ is a dream. At least in my neck of the woods.
well dont go by the radar because its showing rain in my area and its all snow now

Mix here in NW LEX
Still raining here in LExington at 5:15.
clouds just now rolling in down here in knox/whitley county area, with gusty winds, and a temp. sitting at 53*
It’s coming, all snow now here in masterson station area…. just too warm to stick.
Correction….we have rain /snow now.
OK, this is wacky. I stood looking out my kitchen window and watched the rain turn to snow within minutes. It’s been snowing pretty hard here in Mercer for about 30 min. And I stand corrected, there is some accumulation already. Didn’t think it could happen with the warm/wet right before. Wow, what a temp gradient.
Mitch thanks for keeping us all in form when Chris can’t because Chris cannot be with us 24 7 I trust your forecasting you are almost right up there with Chris…..
and ANDY i could care less if u care about gambling, nothing wrong with being a monk.

53 degrees here on east 80 in gunxchester……..
man what might have nbeen if that in gulf would form up with this, it might have been something…
looks like its snowing hard in lex. the cam shot is smeared with snow…lol
We went from 47 degrees and light rain to 36 degrees and white-out conditions in Eastern Franklin/Western Woodford Counties in less than an hour! Even by Kentucky standards, this is freaky weather!
it is all it has done has been moderate snow rolo is right what a chance we had
The snow line is coming farther and farther east so Hoping for the snow tonite
NE BOYLE COUNTY: Snow and 37*
Mixed precip changed to snow near 5:30pm. Aty the temp fall rate I would guess 32 here at 6:30pm. No accum at this time. Light to moderate snow.
F5 http://mjhdp.tripod.com/stormtracker/id17.html?x=78&y=17
light to moderate snow, definitely not a very heavy snowfall.
It’s accumulating a little on grass and raised areas, but an IR thermometer reads my driveway at 38F (air temp is 36F) so roads are just staying wet.
It’s very frustrating when you post a comment with detailed conditions and it goes to moderation :/
ground covered here in Georgetown
35 degrees
Only very light snow now in NW LEX after a short burst that accumulated a dusting on grass & raised surfaces.
I give up. Two posts now with conditions and both go to moderation.
NE BOYLE COUNTY: 34* moderate to at times heavy snow. Slushy dusting thus far.
F5 http://mjhdp.tripod.com/stormtracker/id17.html?x=78&y=17
folk the wrap around not going to do much either, maybe far northern and north eastern might get a bit.
but overall theree not going to be know 3 inches anywhere.
After I posted it changed over to snow.
Light slushy snow falling in north Richmond. Ground is slightly covered.
Main issue is slushy surface that will freeze when temps drop.
Watch out for any non grass surface: decks, porches, driveways, etc and bridges on roads. Be rough tonight, because these light events are usually the most dangerous for slick surface -related accidents.
Slushy light snow falling in north Richmond. Ground is slightly covered.
now rolo are you backing off a bit ? while ago you said a flake or 2 now your saying less than 3 so that means your expecting more than a flake or 2 now ? 😉
He changes his mind like a woman… 😉
I still think 3 is possible because that’s what most people are still forecasting
teacher pull your bottom lip over your face and swallow please !!!
Cmon snow snow showers and squalls tommorow and tonight will add up to the 1-3 yes theres a northwest flow that will bring snow showers
Snow is really coming down here in W. Franklin Co. Backroads are becoming slick. 32 degrees here now.
no I MEANT,
there giving 3 inches in places,
i dont see that anywhere, even in the far north/north east part that has best chance of the wrap around u see north and west.
75 percent of us want see much of that at all.
so i still say our area ANDY IS ISHED OUT OF LUCK.
but black mountain probably will pick up a quick inch or 2 were they are higher up. so u can actually say it snowed tham much if u like toooo.
I just love givin my thoughts, and Chris THE LEGEND Bailey is the reason I can.
he gave us a special place here to voice concerns, jokes, sports, horses and opinion about weather.
folks in today world that hard to find.
so HOPEFULLY I am wrong and the snow geese get some good snow.
44 here and winds houling.
closing in on 3/4 inch in versailles with roads becoming slick.
cant wait till TURKEY SEASON OPENS!!!!
already got me one scouted out and basically tied up waiting on me.
