Good evening gang and thanks a bunch for all the weather reports from where you live. I appreciate it more than you know and I am sure your fellow bloggers agree.
The heavy snow band I blogged about earlier in the day has taken shape and it is turning out to be a thumper. Snowfall of 1″-3″ will be common across much of central and eastern Kentucky over the next several hours. Local amounts can hit 4″ under the heaviest snow bands. Here is the radar…
Our buddy MJ has put out a WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY for much of central Kentucky….
FAYETTE KY-BOURBON KY-NICHOLAS KY-JESSAMINE KY-CLARK KY-
GARRARD KY-MADISON KY-CASEY KY-LINCOLN KY-ADAIR KY-RUSSELL KY-

FRIDAY…
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN LOUISVILLE HAS ISSUED A WINTER
WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW…WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 AM EST /6 AM
CST/ FRIDAY.
LIGHT TO MODERATE SNOW IS EXPECTED ACROSS THE ADVISORY AREA
TONIGHT AND WILL DIMINISH LATE TONIGHT. MOST LOCATIONS WILL SEE
AROUND ONE INCH OF ACCUMULATION…BUT SOME ISOLATED SPOTS MAY SEE
UP TO TWO INCHES OF ACCUMULATIONS. THIS SNOWFALL COMBINED WITH
PREVIOUSLY WET ROADS AND TEMPERATURES FALLING BELOW FREEZING WILL
LEAD TO HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS OVERNIGHT.
A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW
WILL CAUSE PRIMARILY TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SNOW
COVERED ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES…AND USE CAUTION WHILE
DRIVING.
The NWS in Jackson is also expanding their advisory to include all of there counties! Travel will become very hazardous quickly this evening so be safe if you are out driving.
I wanted to share the Somerset Cam with all of you… it is a thing of beauty!
Send me your snow pics or youtube videos of the snow and I will put them on the blog. Email me at chrisbaileyweather@yahoo.com .
An you guys were doubting my call on this heavy snow band setting up! Don’t worry… I was too
haha
Updates as needed through the evening and night. Take care.

Chris why do you think eastern or se ky didnt get in on the snow?
Thanks Chris for all you do…you are ahead of the others in forecasting this storm.
TALK TO ME OLE CB!!!
heavy snow with inch plus on ground in clay co off highway 80.
C u was spot on on the snow band, I see more than 4 inches in places.
Just the wait now.
so is it time for 1st call on snow fall amounts Chris ?
Michael where are you located?
Thanks Chris, we have faith in you.
chris, downtown Somerset is a Christmas card right now! As it is outside my house. The ground is white, the roads are getting covered as well, andit is still pouring snow! Our temp is down to 33 and the snow is coming down hard! Last time I looked outside, we had probably half an inch already, and it is still peppering it down.
I had to laugh when I saw the weather advisory, though. It is all around us, and pouring snow, but as of yet, we are not in it. Jackson needs to get on the ball here! Roads are getting slushy and snow covered. Please, if you have to be out, be careful!
Jackson is just nowputting us in a winter weather advisory for snow….sorry, but I think you are a little bit late…
Thanks so much Chris for all that you do for us. I know it is greatly appreciated. I don’t think the local channels have even issued any warnings or anything. I know my sub-division is slick and the know is still coming down pretty good. I love it!!!!!!!!
I read the blog all the time but this is my first time to post. It is pouring the snow here in Menifee County. It started about 30 minutes ago and already has everything covered….trees, cars, sidewalks, and beginning to stick to the roads. Also, some major lightning and thunder at the onset of the snow! A truly strange sound!
31.8 here in Jeffersonville. All covered with beautiful snow. Everyone be careful if you are on the roads tonight.
Chris who doubted you not me……
I spelled snow wrong!!!!!!!
The radar is still showing green over Magoffin County…but we have probably 1/2 inch of sleet on the ground and now it’s starting to transition to snow.
Welcome Jen, I am new to this blog too. I also read all the time. I have been welcomed as I am sure you will be too. Enjoy I hope you like the snow as much as we all do.
Give it a couple of minutes. It will be here!
Crystal its pouring here in morgan co ground is white I’m going to send Chris some pictures later….
Thanks! The snow is still coming down…It looks like a postcard outside!
I guess I must be on the edge, its just barely snowing at all here now and what did fall earlier is about gone, just slushy spots around and on car tops
Just got home from work. What is normally a 15 minute drive took nearly an hour. Roads are just that bad in Laurel Co right now, especially the closer you get to the Rockcastle Co line. Snow is falling heavily right now and looks like we have already picked up *atleast* half an inch of snow.
Working on sending you some pictures, Chris! 🙂
The latest NWS advisory call for 1-2″ of snow in southern KY, looking at radar, who thinks they are selling this a little short? I’m not saying this is Winter Storm criteria, but 2-4″ would be a more likely scenario.
Still nothin’ doin’ in Jessamine! To look at the radar, you’d think we were in the bullseye, but nothing…
I think it is Rolo that usually comes up with the songs on here, but tonight it should be ‘Simply The Best’ by Tina Turner…that goes out to you Chris!
Sorry…I got excited about the snow and forgot to put my name!
I’m not claiming to be a meteorologist, but I could have done better than that NWS… They were obviously caught with their pants down..
You are welcome. It is still snowing here as well. I hope I am in the “heavy band” and get around 4 inches.
Is it not snowing in the Lexington Metro????
Nothing in Lexington either, but it sounds like just about everyone else getting it. Must be a small snow dome.
Snogo is getting active no school in Magoffin and Knox so far
Crystal, it should be starting to change over as it’s now sleeting in Williamson.
Not so joyous down here, lol. Rain, now nothing…probably would still be too warm anyway.
still pouring the snow here 😛
Freaksters anyone ?
why does the radar show blue over madison county?? there is nothing falling at my house.
Temp. has fallen to exactly 32.0 here in Anderson Co. now…but there is no precip. reaching the ground.
snow picking back up again, I was starting to get alittle nervous, thought I was gonna miss out, when rolo said he had almost an inch.
I am in Jessamine County too and keep looking at the radar and then looking out the window. Where are you snow. Would love a snow day tomorrow.
Not me
No snow yet to mention on county line with Fayette near Winchester RD / W Lexington Ave. My boy is praying for it for school reasons. LOL Let it snow***** 33 degrees
Lawrence County and it has just started in the last 15 minutes.
timmy this baby not down yet, need another degree oon temp for BEST CONDITION, we had alot more if it wqs below freezing.
stillCRANKING in GUNCHESTER…….
I am on the south side of Lexington near Fayette Mall and its not doing anything…this is so disappointing.
It is a bit frustrating to watch the rain/snow line slowly inch closer to Ashland in Pac-Man-like fashion. I do enjoy the look of the map and the potential for continuing snows, not just the flash-and-dash to which we’ve grown accustomed these last several years. If we could only drop the temps just a bit quicker, all would be well in this Winter Wonderland, which in past years has meant, “I wonder where winter is?”
We’ve now changed over to snow here in Magoffin County and the roads are already covered. The said on the radio that the Mountain Parkway is “treacherous”!
No snow flying in the Masterson area of Lexington… that dry pocket must have really sucked up the moisture… anyone with any knowledge… what gives!?! Do we have to wait for total saturation again? Here’s keeping my fingers crossed…
Wxman…nothing here either in Nelson Co..earlier it looked so promising, then it just stopped. That was when the radar had us in the dark green rain..lol..now we’re in the deeper blue and NADA-ZERO..??? What gives??
little mix in harlan thats it
I think not….
Got a couple of pictures to upload and senf to you, Chris, but it will pribably be tomorrow before I get it done. Right now, we are going to watch “A Charlie Grown Christmas” on DVD. The christmas lights made a pretty backdrop and you can see the snow falling! Haven’t seen is snow this hard for a long time, Chris!
You hit it right on the head. I said I would believe it when I saw it. Well, I am seeing it. Nice to know that you were having a few doubts, too! 😉
I’m gettin in on some of Rolo’s old school snow now!! I swear I believe those flakes are as big as silver dollars!! not if that keeps up I might get my inch..lol..
Light snow here in Eubank now and 30 degrees. NWS? Please check your instrumentation at your reporting station in Somerset? When all the stations around you are reporting a few degrees cooler than you all day it might be an indication that something’s amiss.
On the radar, interesting stuff. Look down in Knoxville and to the SE of Knoxville. That precip is going to be thrown right back into SE Kentucky and the NW wind is bring the energy from the clipper into town much faster than expected. Also, the precip shield is holding fast right at the TN/Kentucky Border and the western edge of the moisture in South Central TN is “training” right up into SE Kentucky.
I am in McKee and it is absolutely coming down big time.
That dry air is coming in like a bandit from the west….it will be a squeeze play even for Lexington Metro…the city may not pick up that much…but just down the road in Winchester…it could be a different story.
Heavy snow here in East Bernstadt (Laurel Co). We have 1″ of snow so far.
Chris, sent you a few snow pics! 🙂
Have to look at the county by county radar if you want to see what’s really going on……as NWS in JKL put it….atmosphere doing a “squeeze play.”
Moisture to our south is moving south, moisture to our north is moving north, and some of the moisture to the east of the Lex metro area is trying but slooowwlly making progress back to the west a bit.
Reminds me of snapping together a bag of corn or something into a Zip-Loc bag.
Nothing yet in SE Lexington….if wishes were snowflakes…..
its going to get better I believe tim.
I agree Chris B. I live 7 miles East of Somerset and I have 30.5* they are always a couple of degrees warmer. Heavy “rolo’s old school” snow right now…like tim said about the size of half dollars…closing in on an inch here in Pulaski Co.
YEA Chris! You are the best. The teachers at school kept quoting other weather persons and I kept saying, “But Chris says…..” I guess they will learn to listen to us. Southern Jackson County is covered with at least an inch and big flakes falling. I love it. Everyone be careful out there.
Heavy snow in Corbin – got at least an inch already. Whoooooohooooooo and there is alot more coming brother!!!!!!!!!
Boy, all our local tv statiions hit this right on the head …. yeah, right!!!!
Chris, you are da MAN!
Still only freezing rain here in Grayson, Ky with a little mix of snow…
Not our friend MJ.
Thats why we have the blog someplace reliable to plan ahead not to tell is what its doing atm outside
Still snowing…already have about 1 inch and the pine trees are bending over!
NWS? Here’s a nice forecast. NWS has Carter Count yunder a winter weather advisory. Forecast for tonight is 50% chance of rain, sleet, mix, or whatever…with no mention of accumulation. I think this could be a little off..it doesn’t seem that hard to get a little more accurate when the radar is covering everything blue and pink. Thanks Chris for giving the real deal, that’s the good thing about having a LOCAL guy that likes what he does. He may not always be right, but you can gaurantee of being well informed.
With Chris working so hard to keep us informed on this wonderful snow, I sure hope he is going to get some too. I know he loves it as much as the rest of us do. Here’s hoping Chris gets a Foot of snow!!! Pouring the snow here right now, almost white out conditions. I’m loving this!!!
absolutely..!
you wait to the very last minute to issue anything, knowing full well that people commute 30-50 miles… NWS is pathetic..!
…
It is snowing heavily in Corbin at this time. Roads are slick and very slushy. Please be careful driving. I’m so giddy I can’t stand it. Sorry to those who are not seeing snow, but the kid in me has come out.
SwVafan…man I feel your pain. thats got to be the sharpest cut off of precip I have ever seen…goes from snow to no. in a matter of 20 or 30 miles…come on over tomorrow, I’ll let ya sled on my hill…If that precip in the knoxville area would consolodate with this snow you would get in on it to you may get in on it later on as it all rotates around…
Considering some of the reports… snowfall rates of nearly an inch an hour are possible in a few spots.
Tapering just a bit still huge flakes
looks like its breaking up and se ky has not got anything…not fair!
Snow still coming down hard! About of inch of snow at my house!
Hey Chris…great call as usual.
Doubtfull, we’re under the snow dome too here in Winchester…have about 10 flakes on the ground.
Southeastern Kentucky HAS GOTTEN SNOW. jUST COME UP TO cORBIN AND lONDON BROTHER …. IT’S HERE.
I’m so giddy right now. I’m not used to seeing so much snow at once…HAHAHA!! 😀 😀 😀
Freaksters anyone?
must be nice…sniffle..sniffle
The ground is already covered with snow here in Isom (Letcher County). From flooding to snow…what a day.
Hey this Saturday the Mizer brothers show comes on ABC family. I guess the Heat mizer is steaming right now!!!!
well, this is what this ol’ gal is gonna do…I’m getting away from this blog, I’m not looking out the door every 5 minutes, and I might crash on the couch w/ “Stephen King”…if I don’t expect it or worry with it, I might wake up in the morning to a nice little surprise!
There’s plenty of snow in Clay Co! It took my friend over an hour to get here from London (usually about a 25 minute drive for her). Be careful out there!!!
I love the white stuff Chris! I showed my students at school your forecast today. They’ll be faithful Chris Bailey fans after this! 🙂
jus settin here watchin the radar as the snow band dwindles away before se ky gets anything 🙁 🙁 virginia ky boarder counties aint gettin nuttin reminds me of a snog i aint gettin no snow at all im really really down lol
Either the snow in Corbin is that heavy, or something else came before, but my cherry tree that has stood for at least 16 years, is now broken a laying on my neighbors fence. Roads still in bad condition.
Hey Chuck, NWS really hit the nail on the head with Carter County… snow is coming down right now with no sign of stopping, little or no accumulation doesn’t even seem like a guess, it’s like they want people to get out on the roads and get hurt… ridiculous! Keep up the good work Chris, we appreciate it!
Well, I just went out to start my truck in preparation for my trip back to Manchester. There is two inches of snow on ground in McKee and it is POURING.
Snowing HEAVY here on Lakeville in Salyersville…..
Finally, getting ground covered here in Paintsville.
I just drove back from hamburg to masterson station area. Dry, roads were dried off as well. However, the salt trucks were out dumping salt.
got that “George Jones kinda snow” here in central Pike County. A big “NO SHOW” grrr
We have about an inch here in Jeffersonville.
Chris I’m trying to send some pic it is pouring my christmas inflable are on the ground it knock mt tv out going out to sweep my dish it is coming down
I just spent the better part of an hour making a 30 minute drive from Paintsville to Morgan Co. The roads are horrible! I passed numerous accidents on the way and slid several times on the slush under the snow. It is really pouring out there. Be careful people! Thanks Chris for the heads up!
We now have 2″ of snow here in East Bernstadt… wow! Still plenty of fat flakes flying. 🙂
Reports of 3.5″ of snow in Lee county.
Mountain Parkway near the Magoffin/Morgan line at least partically closed because of an 18 wheeler accident.
I get the scoop from my Magoffin county peeps! 😉
Snow as tapered to a few flurries here about a mile north of KY 80 in Somerset. Looks like we got about 1/2 inch to 1 inch.
…and what does blue mean anyway?? LOL
mj is right the dry air did come in quick and ate up the back edge of snow i was looking forward to hardly a flake in versailles. enjoy the snow we may have a reversal early next week!
Yep… radar returns are clearing up quick from West to East! Wow! So close but no go for the Lexington area! Oh well… off to the slopes in the mornin’!
The snow is so heavy its knock my tv out and its pouring….
Derrick..yeah NWS needs to get a clue sometimes. I won’t be able to sleep now wondering how much we’re going to get. Several schools already out including Carter.
and now,,,,,, the end is near,,,
i must face the final curtain,,,
love the elvis tune.
that describes the snow, here off in clay co snow tappered off now.
ty CB for a good evening of weather, I was wrong I too just need some real snow falling from sky.
Sooooo, you think Richmond will miss out on the action?
CoffeeLady, of all people I am tickled to death to see you get some snow. You have been one of the nicest, most polite people on this blog consistently,(and I’m including the old Chris blog with KYT as well). Woodford County/Versailles continues to hold the title of ground zero and the epicenter of the snow dome. We now have 3 flakes on the ground as of 10:15. MJ your comment about the dry air west makes perfect sense. The radar all night has looked like we should be seeing something but so far all I have counted is 3 flakes. Bummer but it is still early in the season. Kudos to Chris on the call, despite the fact we are not seeing the snow in Versailles, a lot of people in the lexington tv viewing area are and our local stations are almost in denial.
Radar shows that we are getting snow…but I just came inside and there is no snow and the temp has actually increased to 33 degrees here in Flemingsburg. The ice that was on the trees earlier has already melted. Looks like the kiddos may have to go to school anyhow. Does anyone who has any insight whatsoever think Fleming will get any snow, or does it look like this systems song and dance is over?
the dry air is working fast towards the east…Looks on radar like Somerset is getting it good…but the dry air has worked in.
FLOOD WARNING continues until 4:15 am early Friday morning fo Letcher County. Reports of 6-8 inches of standing water on roads near Jenkins…With the floods and the snow, stay off the roads unless if it is absolutely necessary. Stay safe.
yea the storm is dying happy for those who got a goodin feel like cryin but oh well im ready to watch for the next one this storm was just a sign f big things to come … i hope lol
3 inches + in Southern Jackson Co. with steady snow still flying. Numerous wrecks and roads shut down around the county. The snow is extremely wet and heavy and some of the county is now without electricity. Quite an unexpected turn of events if you listened to most other weather outlets.
We’ve got about an inch and a half in Corbin .. still snowing , though.
We just lost a big pine tree in the back yard….I’ll be it didn’t miss the power lines more than a few inches!
I guess we still need to give kuddos to Chris…He alone was calling for this heavy snow band…and even though it didn’t hit here in Flemingsburg, it did hit in some places. Makes you kinda wonder what the ppl at the NWS is looking at?
Wow… JKL out with a winter storm warning…upgraded the winter weather adisory
Ok now I am wondering. Where is the snow for Bell Co? We are just now starting to see a mix here on my end of the county. Temp is finally down to 34. I am afraid the moisture will be out before it gets cold enough for the white stuff. Could that mean some wicked ice over here?
My poor christmas inflables…..
However, the WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY continues for the Virginia/Tennessee border counties and NE Kentucky counties.
The radar shows snow on Harrison Co., but there’s nothing at my house so far. Just some sleet earlier. I do think the western dry air is giving us a big squeeze! All of you that have snow, please enjoy and be safe!
UPDATE:
It is finally snowing here!! YIPPEE!
Reversal..??
How so Mitch..?
WINTER WEATHER ADV. REPLACED BY WINTER STORM WARNING FOR SEVERAL COUNTIES FOR 3-5 inches
http://www.crh.noaa.gov/jkl/
WINTER STORM WARNINGS !!!!!
Christy…if you aren’t getting anything in Harrison Co., I guess I really don’t have any reason to think we’ll get anything here in Fleming Co. We are under the Winter Weather Advisory, but I believe the dry air has won. Trying to get my son to go to bed..but he still is hoping for no school…I don’t think it is going to happen.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN JACKSON HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM

THE WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.
A ZONE OF HEAVY SNOW HAS DEVELOPED ACROSS THE MIDDLE OF EASTERN
KENTUCKY. TOTAL SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS FROM 3 TO 5 INCHES ARE
EXPECTED BEFORE THE SNOW TAPERS OFF BY 6 AM FRIDAY
Magoffin County and surround counties are now under a winter storm warning according to Jim Caldwell at WYMT. Also said that Beattyville in Lee County had upwards of 5 inches of snow already!
Does anyone know how long it has been since we have had a WINTER STORM WARNING
issued? It seems like years!
Is anyone seeing or expecting anything for Lexington? I haven’t seen snow here yet.
MJ, you know NWS in jackson did get caught with there pants down. the roads here in morgan co is awful if not for Chris this storm would have been caught off guard for a lot of folks. And the bad part is there is not a lot of people out there get the internet or Chris Bailey. But folks it not just NWS service what about our local weather all of them got caught with there pants down too not just the NWS. what is it that Chris can get a handle on these storm and all you other guys can’t what’s going on there? I’m just thankful for Chris.
Nothing here in scott county, still below freezing. Still hoping to squeez out some snow out of this event…….not even a dusting on the ground.
I’m baffled as to why the NWS is just now issuing WSW for our area (Laurel Co). The back edge of the snow is in Pulaski co, and will probably be through here in the next hour to hour and a half. I’m guessing we have, on average, 2″ on the ground…with possibly up to another inch on the way.
O.K. Now I’m officially sad 🙁 What started out looking great dwindled fast. We have hardly anything outside. The grass isn’t even covered. Just the porch furniture. Is it almost over? I know that the advisories are until 7 a.m. Am I going to be one of the losers with this storm? My little ones will be SO disappointed in the morning.
I think Jackson has jumped the gun here in Pulaski County. Although it was snowing heavily earlier it has already ended here just north of Somerset. Unless something else develops our snow here is done.
I’m officially sad 🙁 It started out great and dwindled fast. Only the porch furniture is covered. Not even the grass. Is it over or is there more to come? The advisories are out until 7 a.m. I feel like such a loser. My little ones will be disappointed if they have to go to school 🙁
I was just wondering the same thing Russ. It doesn’t make any sense to me either. By the way what part of Laurel County are you in? I’m in the western part of the county.
I want to hear the excuses from all the meoteroligists (Can’t spell, YIKES!) tomorrow.
5″ of snow in Lee County!!!!
man lexington is either to far southeast or to far northwest here you just CANNOT WIN
Agreed…. Once they issued it I was stunned… just been snowshowers and flurries for an hour or so… Nothing else should be coming tonight except for flurries
I just did a snow dance for Scott and Fayette County……now to wait and see if we can get anything.
Vinny I agree how pathetic putting out winter storm now don’t you suppose to put them out like 24 hour before we get the storm
We live about 2 miles south of London, off KY 363. We have a decent snow cover..maybe 2″ This next snow band may give us 3″ total….pretty awesome considering it looked like we were going to miss another snowfall.
Hey Guys!! Have you all looked at the national radar? It looks like we have some precip for tom coming from the plains. Will it be snow? If anyone has any info please let me know. I want snow so bad and I got nothing out of this.
I guess my Winter Storm Threat verified! 🙂
It is POURING the snow. I have no clue as to why era ren’t under a winter storm warning because if this isn’t ine then i have no clue what it. Its unbelieveable here!!! The wind is blowing really hard & the flakes are huge & its snowing so hard that u can’t even see out my back door. We got a couple of pics & im emailing them to chris. I wish i could take pics of how fast & hard its coming down. We opened the back door & got BLASTED with snow. I feel for people that has to be out driving in this cause theres no way I could. Roads & visibility are extremley bad here. We have an ince, almost 2 at my house.
Chris you want a job at the NWS?????
For some people 🙁
Sorry can’t spell tonight, just really excited to see the snow. Its so pretty. Its def a winter wonderland tonight. Good call on calling school off already!
This has got to be the nuttiest storm I ever witnessed. No snow in LEx. 5″ in Lee co. 2″ in Laurel co. and a slush puppy in my yard in whitley co..
Megan, where you at in Carter County… I’m in Grayson
Tim,
I’m here in Corbin and we’ve got close to two inches.
Houston we have snow!!!!!!! I cant believe Pikeville is seeing snow finally.I went to bed pouting and my husband woke me and told me to look out i said if you are messing with me i will die.
Yep, you are the best Chris!!!! When was our last WINTER STORM WARNING? I’m looking forward to next weeks weather adventures too.
Yes, it did. I’m happy for my fellow bloggers who have gotten snow.
just off the double a, iron hill
nothing like that here just a slushy dusting on elevated surfaces
I’m here at the office and it’s pouring snow again and close to two inches. The roads are slushy, but it’s around two inches.
We live about 8 miles out off HWY 192 in Cold Hill. So you live close to the new school? Am I thinking right? And it’s pouring the snow here again. Maybe that’s why we are under the WSW. I don’t know.
Huge Flakes coming down now here in Regina…I figured the snow would ever get here..!
Beautiful!!! Finally we have big beautiful snowflakes in Central Pike County….yayyy
Here is a video clip of me and slyvester in our living room right now
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kyYPu0uSjtA&feature=related
I’m thrilled for you!!! I know you were wanting it just as bad as the rest of us. Let it snow Let it snow Let it snow LOL
numerous chances for overrunning frz rain and snow right up to christmas, with the best chances in the north and west vs the south and east.
better chances north and west next week.
That’s the funniest snow dance I’ve seen yet!!! LOL And so very happy Sylvester is feeling better now.
Thanks Vicki how much snow do you have? Marsha and Tim and Rolo are hoging it all
YIKES!
We’re getting HUGE snow flakes in Corbin right now. And, getting more snow, by the way:P
Chris do you have those parachute pants on to give us a live video clip lol
YOU LUCKY DOG!! TAlk about a sharp cut off . MAN the accumulating snow was a sharp cut off…
Anytime next week would be nice….. 🙂
I’m just guessing here. But I would guess two inches anyways. And it’s pouring the snow right now too. Our roads have been covered since around seven this evening. I’m in Laurel County. What County are you from Crystal?
not me crystal, Les..and Marsha got all the snow and Chas up in london…I just ended up with a slushy mess…lol..that will probably be melted by in the morning…
Hey Tim,
Are you sure you’re not getting any snow. It’s pouring downtown Corbin?
Its not over till Chris puts those parachute pants on and sings lol
I just looked out the office window and the downtown roads are WHITE.
LES…you stinkin snow hog!!! its not doing anything here… I think you need to get away from that printing ink. at the office it making you see things that arent there…LOL..LOL..
Do you guys see that clipper coming from St. Louis … will that bring some snow showers?
I left McKee at 10:20. At that time, there was nearly 4″ on the ground and the highway 421 was horrendous. I just made it home to Manchester.
Hey everyone… I will be updating AGAIN later tonight. I will post some pics and look ahead to the weekend and next week.
Clipper snow showers and flurries will be with us later today. Windy and cold friday in store.
After a mild Sunday and Monday… get ready for one amazing pattern to take shape for the middle and end of next week into Christmas week. 100 degree temp difference across the country means watch out for overruning snow and ice… even here. 😉
Crystal I’m sorry I would sent you some if I could……
it just started snowing again not hard but big flakes
I dont think I can take another one of these types of storms right now..LOL..
Well, the Snowdome is centered precisely over the Lexington Metro area. We got exactly NOTHING, not even a single snowflake at my house. I have decided that no matter what the radar may say, no matter how much it may snow east, west, north or south of here, that we will NEVER get another decent snow around here again! Forget the “Big One” the most we will ever get again is 4″ from any storm, no matter how huge it may be, no matter what its history, it will find a way to stiff us EVERY SINGLE TIME!!! >(

Neil,
I’ve been in your position before. We just got lucky in Corbin.
well one last gasp of moderate snow moving through before it ends..maybe it will at least make my grass white..lol
FOR SALE:
One barely used 11 year-old snow shovel.
Almost like new, but it does have some dust and cobwebs on it. Need to make room in my garage for something more useful, actually anything would be more useful than a snow shovel in Jessamine County.
$.50 OBO
well im getting one last gasp of moderate to heavy snow moving through, actually i think its snowing harder than it has all night . well anyway maybe it’ll be enough to whiten up my grass…lol
We got more snow tonight in Somerset (little over 1″ at my house) than we had combined all last winter….LOL… The winter before that we may have squeezed out 2″ for the entire winter… So we were due a little snow down here…sad part is..we may not see any again for a while..that boundry setting up next week will likely be across central Ky putting us in the warm sector
I know Marsha it is till coming down the last I look and it looks like we still have some snow to go
I feel your pain, I live just north of the metro in Scott County. Looks like 2,000 or so kids are going to be unhappy come tomorrow morning……unless that clipper can give us some snow here.
Les,
We haven’t been lucky in Jessamine in a solid 8 years, which was the last time we got anything approaching what I would consider significant (i.e. 6″ or more), and we have only had two storms that approached that level at all since 1998! Both were 6″, one in 2000, and one in 2002. It has been longer now since we have had a major snow here in Wilmore than any state in the entire country except Florida. It is just nothing short of AMAZING how it simply will not snow here anymore!
Pike
well its really coming down out there right now, you were right les.. it just had’nt got here yet…Its actually snowing harder than it has all night long and maybe a good 1/4″ of snow in just a matter of 20 or 30 min. or so..
You are most certainly entitled to your opinion…but those of us that appreciate your lack of intelligence, would relish your silence.
I would tend to agree with that. The tropical convection over Indonesia is what will determine the mass field over the pacific…in other words, this will help keep the trough in the west and much of the Ohio Valley in a southwest flow.
The 00Z GFS seems to be backing off the freezing rain event. Given that its been so consistent over the past few days with this…I am not buying into its solution at the moment. Nor am I buying that huge spin up low and arctic front thing around Christmas. The teleconnections do not support that kind of amplified upper level pattern.
I didnt see a single flake! I am completely BUMMED!
Chris…….the snow showers are flurries you are eluding to, is that for eastern KY only or us in Central too?
hey guys take a peak out to the west could be something intresting in here later tonight 😉
The snow is coming down again.I was going outside to watch it snow and this cat came up to my door and now it wont leave.People sit pets out here all the time since we are so close to that animal shelter.I would keep them all if i could but i dried it off and put a rug out now it really wont leave. my husband will kill me and slyvester was hissing at it thru the door it had some kind of collar not a name tag but a flea collar or something hopefully i can find its owner.
It is pouring the snow now in Pikeville and good night.
I am in utter shock lol 🙂 we have about 5 1/2 inches here in lee county.. it is the best snow i have seen in ages
